Resident Evil 4 - Ultimate HD Edition |OT| Welcome back, stranger!

Unlocking the framerate is probably out of the question but couldn't the game allow for higher framerates as long as they're multiples of 30? For example, 90fps, 120fps, and 150fps?

Seems like something worth implementing for the sake of 120/144hz LCD users and CRT users, even if it's just through some obscure config file.

What do you mean then by runs better? A game running at 60fps generally is considered to be running better than one at 30fps.

A game being capable of running at 60fps doesn't mean that if the same PC hardware was thrown at it, they would both be capable of rendering the games at the desired framerate.

Basically, If someone is for instance using a laptop, there is a possiblity that the older PC port could run better on their laptop (lets say ~25fps) than the new port which may run comparatively worse (lets say 20fps.)

So while the new port is absolutely capable of running better (and it looks like it very realistically may scale better as well) there's no guarantee that it will be better optimized to run well.

They actually said they're allowing exactly this. You can change the framerate to above 60fps but it's not oficially supported by them.

Probably just referring to optimization, which we won't be aware of until actual release. I do have high hopes as, overall, Capcom has been very solid in the past.

Was the original PC port dreadfully unoptimized?

Oh, well, I'm not about to worry about people with 2002 era hardware. I have a 5 (or 6?) year old PC, and am 99% sure it'll run at 60fps, and am 100% sure it will look better than the original PC release, so it's a weird question for me. :p

5 more hours on steam!

I played this game like ten times and bought almost every version (accept the PC version)!

Now why do I want this version?!

It's too good I guess!

Oh, neat. Pre-ordering now then. Can't wait to play this at 150fps. Hopefully things don't freak out too much.

Ugh, the Regenerators are easily one of the creepiest enemies I've seen in a game. That rattling breathing always freaks me out.

The last one you see in the game, in the room with the moving bag. Just turn left toward a cell and HOLY FUCK THERE IT IS. That room did something to me...despite being sandwiched between two finale-esque balls-to-the-wall action sequences :p

Yea man Regenerators always leave me uneasy when i know I'm about to approach them. But I come back for revenge with my Chicago typewriter and go hard on all them.....all of them!

Get those VPN's reved up boys

1) Europe / Japan / Aus / NZ / Rest-of-Asia
11:00pm 2/27 (Thu) GMT (that's 11pm for UK folks)
8:00am 2/28 (Fri) JST
10:00am 2/28 (Fri) Sydney time
12:00pm 2/28 (Fri) Christchurch time

2) Americas / Rest-of-world
9:00pm 2/27 (Thu) PST (or 0:00am midnight launch for East Coast folks! EDIT: to further clarify, that's late Thursday night for East Coasters.)

UPDATED (Feb. 27)
Europe launch is now combined with Japan/Asia/NZ/AUS launch. That's basically one hour earlier than what we originally announced. Just a simple logistics challenge on Valve's end so we had to combine the launch. Less than 3 hours from this post. :)

Americas and the Rest of world: no change here - the game will unlock in less than 9 hours from this updated post.

I hope I can get the rest of this preloaded by the time the game unlocks. It's going terribly slow.

No, I don't have anything better to do :(

It makes me laugh, I've played this game at least 10 times over the years, over various consoles/machines and even with new games like Thief, Lords Of Shadow 2 (which I'm genuinely enjoying) this week and South Park next week this is what I'm most excited about for the next week or two :p

Anyone know if this game supports 3D? Love me some 3D though my eyes don't feel the same :(

we don't know yet, but given that it's DX9, and given that RE:Revelations worked perfectly in 3D out of the box without any specific work (at least on Nvidia cards) odds are very good. I've got a birthday thing tonight that I'll have to leave for shortly after unlocking, but I'll do my best to test it before I have to go.

It's good for porn, too. After watching porn on BluRay in 60fps, it's hard for me to

Yeah, so Resident Evil 4 tonight, yay!

So excited for this. Must have beat it 6/7 times on the GCN years ago. I've never got a chance to play through the extra content that the PS2/HD versions got so that's another reason for me to buy again. One of my favorite games of all time.

Never for unlocking a game early.

Do not use VPNs with the intent of purchasing a game across regions.
Are you 100% sure about that first part? I'm really apprehensive about unlocking early via VPN so I think I'll just wait it out. I'd love to play as early as I can but I'd hate to get myself banned for something so insignificant.

And to take it one step further, if you were to get banned for doing something like that, what exactly happens? Do you suddenly have no more access to your library? That would be pretty crazy...
