Watch the Deleted Scene "You're a long way from earth" and you will see how truly badass Lang is.CaptYamato said:Lang is a badass in the movie. One of the best villians ever.
The packaging is very pretty, but a pain in the ass to get to the discs easily. Funny how it uses more packaging material than a plastic case with a small flap.Dead said:I love the packaging personally. Only downside is that it is fingerprint heaven :lol
I think Fox would care.TacticalFox88 said:Would anyone mind if I uploaded the entire making of, to Youtube? May take a good while (a week or so), but it can be done.
Dead said:Yep, my final opinion = Cameron should have never cut the Earth opening.
It works too damn well. The cut from the opening Pandora flyover sequence to Jake on the street is absolutely perfect. The music is excellent, love the intensity in Worthingtons eyes in the opening shot and I don't feel that the pacing suffers at all.
We also get an awesome extension to the spaceship takeoff, so thats a great bonus.
Get those two. If you have to pick one, get the former. Both superb, with minimal overlap.Binabik15 said:I need some help. I want to get my mom an Avatar book with lots of pics/sketches of the designs and the movie, technical stuff isn´t as important.
Now, there´s
Avatar: the making of at almost 300 pages
Avatar artbook at 100p
The super-duper Collector´s Edition from Amazon.de has a 44 page book included (and one pic from the film reel!!!1!), but it´s TWICE the price of the regular CE.
Which one hast the most prettiest pics?

Any additional use of the word 'unobtainium' is a poor addition.CaptYamato said:Realized something. In the extended cutthey explained the floating mountains.
Only scene that I felt wasn't needed at all. Cameron didn't need to give in to the whiners (BU-BU HOW DO DEY FLOAT?!?!)CaptYamato said:Realized something. In the extended cutthey explained the floating mountains.

Neytiris sister subplot is only the Extended cutStuBurns said:So what else is different between the two longer cuts? I'm really looking forward to seeing the rerelease version, it's the one I haven't seen, and I imagine, the best. Assuming Neytiri's sister's subplot is in that version, that was the best addition from the original cut I believe.
Okay, never mind, longest is king.Dead said:Neytiris sister subplot is only the Extended cut
Watching some of that stuff was pretty incredible. There is some I wouldn't want to see restored, but there is actually some beautiful writing in there, better than anything that made it in the movie that got cut. Stuff I wish they had retro fitted into other scenes somehow. The line about the Na'vi for lie for example, that was really great.Dead said:Still not long enough lol
Theres almost 20 minutes of the deleted scenes that I'd love to see finished and included in an extended cut. :lol
What?:lolNappuccino said:Did they explain how thewaterfalls kept working?
The dreamhunt is the biggest loss I believe. It's hippie shit that would have got the film more crap for being tree hugging, but the context is great, seeing him walk out into the bit of the film that made it "The Na'vi say every person is born twice" or words to that effect, I got chills, it had far greater impact knowing he actually had a real final challenge to face not a essentially ceremonial party.Dead said:Oh yeah the Duel.
That scene had some great stuff that shouldn't have been cut AT ALL, like the extended part where Neytiri makes clear she wants to stay with Jake, but the Duel itself seems like it kinda goes on for a bit too long.
Maybe id have a different opinion of it if I saw it fully rendered, dunno.
But yeah, the Dreamhunt scene is really a big loss imo. Great character building for Jake, incredible visuals, and I think it makes the predictability of the whole Toruk Makto thing go down a little better as with the scene it becomes more of a running subplot rather than something that should be "surprising"

I assumed it was the same way they they work here.

There's a lot more material I'd rather see gone than that. The film is so front loaded. I'd have removed everything between his first and second time using the Avatar. He meets Avatar' Grace, next shot they're flying into the jungle where he'll get separated from the group. Speed that first act right up.Dead said:lol, the movie would be called "tree hugging" no matter what.
But the scene would have never fit in the theatrical cut for the simple reason that just by having it in the movie, the movie ends up longer than the IMAX limit.
TacticalFox88 said:Holy Fucking SHIT at this Making of Documentary. They actually got trainers to teach the actors how walk like a Navi?! Learning the actual language!? Why can't other film makers be like Cameron?
This shit is fucking incredible
That word was used before this movie came out though. It's just a generic name for a do all element.StuBurns said:Any additional use of the word 'unobtainium' is a poor addition.
A cool thing I learned from the new release is that all Na'vi are left handed.
It's actually a joke name used for something hard to get. That doesn't stop it being moronic though.CaptYamato said:That word was used before this movie came out though. It's just a generic name for a do all element.
Solo, the making of will make you shit bricks. Pretty damn awesome.Solo said:Holy shit, I just unpacked the thing to put it in the cabinet with my other BDs, and goddamn is it ever a classy looking set. Love the glossy outer hardcover sleeve, and the interior hardcover book format is beautiful. Totally doesn't fit at all with the rest of the spines in my collection though :lol Its taller than everything else by about half an inch. But I guess when you're the highest grossing movie of all time, you're allowed to fuck up the aesthetics of Solo's collection
Probably gonna be another week or two until I have a free afternoon to dive into this I don't wanna do this shit piecemeal - I won't touch it until I have the time to watch the extended cut and all the extras in one go.
Disc one and two together are literally like six hours.Solo said:Holy shit, I just unpacked the thing to put it in the cabinet with my other BDs, and goddamn is it ever a classy looking set.
