Can I steal pillows?

Seriously, can I?

This is important.

While pillows seem strange fixation, this man has a point?

Will me stealing a spoon in an abandoned room alert the guards all over tamaril that i'm a criminal?? or is it back to morrowind esque line of sight and sound?

I simply want to bring back my favorite character from Morrowind. Oblivion made it impossible for me to play as him - which seriously pissed me off. So yes, pillows may appear an odd fixation, but they are his, damn it.

Read about half the previews and not sure I can read the rest. Rabid desire, etc.

The design on that spider and the undead in the OP are fantastic, and the race comparison shots someone posted borderline absurd. The art direction to Skyrim is very strong, and a marked step up from Oblivion.

Well there's no co op but to clarify, I meant NO as in "holy christ god help us keep that shit away from my single player rpgs" and not NO as in "for fucks' sake pay attention no there is no co op".

Sorry if I came across as an asshole previously.
I wouldn't mind some 2 player adventuring actually. But yes, any more than that or deathmatch or whatever would be disastrous!

Not really Dwarves, were they? Just another Elven race which behaved similarly to what we expect of Dwarves (probably the reason why you used quotes).

The Dwemer were absolutely referred to as dwarves all throughout Morrowind.

So, dwarves.

Dwemer are mountain elves. I mean yeah, humans call them dwarves in-game, but to call them dwarves out of context brings to mind the wrong kind of mental image.

If they would give us an example of like... 2 or 3 perks, I think it would paint a better idea of what we are getting into. I honestly did feel that the stat system in oblivion had it's share of... frivolity. It didn't feel like it mattered all that much, and when I took time to really look into it and understand it, it felt a bit exhausting. That with the class archetypes just gave the game a weird customization system. I don't necessarily want something more 'streamlined' - but something more transparent would be ideal. For example, if anyone has tried the darkspore beta - you can see how the attributes on weapons not only effect your base attack and whatnot, but you can see how it effects your abilities - which is useful. The other day I was trying to decided between two different bits of armor, and I wasn't sure if, for example, one that 'increased damage done by area effect spells by 11%" would be better than another one that increased my Mind by 9 - I tried them both on, and very clearly it showed me how it would effect my attacks.

That sort of transparency is ideal, you could keep the attributes from before, heck you could add some, if you made it as straight forward as that.

That being said, this comes out on my 25th birthday. I think it's a sign.

They have. I remember reading a while back that one of the axe perks causes bleed damage and a mace perk would bypass enemy armor.

Not trying to be an asshole, but is it me but does it resembles to DEMONS SOULS? with all the soul eating and some of the images reminds of Demons Souls
Only if you think absorbing souls as currency in Devil May Cry and any game with platemail armor reeks of Demons Souls.

Looking at the screenshots again, I honestly have no clue where you see a connection.

All I want to do in this game is steal things from random houses.

Bring that back.
Hopefully it dosen't lead to this.

"Stop there! You're under arrest for stealing that spoon, never mind that you killed people to get it, you're a thief!".

Never mind the fact that I stole the thing all the way on the other side of the region.

If people are going batshit insane about a bit of sideboob in Mass Effect, how do you think they'll react if you can violently squash children in Skyrim?

Haha. A comrade-in-arms.

Hell, I'd be fine if they kept the irrational acknowledgment of my crimes miles away if it meant I could steal pillows once more.

Ahhh... pillows...

Yeah, this is what I meant, thanks.

I am slightly prepared for this, just need to see the recommended specs. Looks amazing and they seemed to kick this version up a huge notch. The comparison pics are down right funny.

And a dagger perk that gives a bonus to stealth attacks.

They'll sing Kumbaya in front of Bethesda's offices?

To add to the list, one of the articles in the OP (not sure which, I read several in sequence) mentions an archer perk that slows time a bit while aiming, for more precise shots.

wow, it just looks outright gorgeous and makes oblivion look like a bitch. I can't even attempt to go back and play it anymore. Skyrim has ruined me.

I really hope to see the damage models and gore that fallout had. Why not include that in Skyrim?

Probably not that bad. Boobs are more offensive than mass murder to Americans.

I'm loving the look, the art is fantastic. It's not quite as striking as Morrowind was, but it has an otherworldly feel to it, much more so than Oblivion. The monster design is just as awesome as the environments, dat spider, and that was another area where Oblivion was lacking. I'm waiting on some pics of best race aka the Dark Elf. I also roll Dark Elf, fuck the rest.

I don't object to the removal of athletics, since it is kind of lame to be super slow in a game that involves a lot of treking, but I will miss being able to pump my athletics and acrobatics so high that I can jump over buildings and shit. It was fun to experiment with that stuff in Morrowind, since you could crank acrobatics so high that you could jump across the entire map, would have been cool to do that again.

great stuff, I'm so hyped and so glad I got a nice PC to play this on...I think I need a cold shower <3

I'm still hesitant about the overall design of the game. It looks like Oblivion on crack and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

The lighting has that oh-so-annoying "everything is covered in saran wrap" look that this generation has become synonymous with (mostly thanks to UE3), but it's still to early to tell.

I want to see pictures of the Dunmer.

Look into Oblivion mods that add lots of content, improve graphics, character designs, and tweak the gameplay by a large margin to make it worth playing still even to hold you off until Skyrim.

Still reading through the articles in the OP. It's not making time go any faster. This made me laugh pretty hard:

Select Map and the camera zooms out to show you a 3D representation of Skyrim from above. You can move around freely, examining fast-travel points and other places you have visited.

That's pretty cool, but the best bit is what happens when you hit the up direction to choose Skills. At this point you look to the stars and your perk trees appear as constellations. The lines in the stars show you routes of progression between specialisms, and the stars themselves represent the variations you unlock.

I strongly believe that if you have ever played a western RPG for longer than 10 hours and do not find that concept sexually exciting, you should close your web browser and rethink your life.
But yea, that is some damn sexy UI work, and something I did not expect after the relative clunkiness of Fallout 3 and Oblivion.

This game...so mystical

I'd love for them to build in a consequence system for stealing instead of relying on magical guards.

- Steal a spoon, if no one sees you nothing happens.
- Steal enough stuff from a house without anyone seeing you and, by the next day, the door is locked or the lock is replaced and becomes increasingly more difficult to open every time you break in and steal. Maybe to the point of the owner going crazy and simply staying inside the house all day long so you can't steal without being caught.
- Steal a spoon, the the owner sees you they simply ask for the spoon back - you have a chance to return (drop it) for no damage to your reputation - refuse and they will then demand the spoon at which point you can return it, still lose rep but not get in a fight or alert the guards - if you refuse that, depending on the character, the owner will either fight you or go grab a guard increasing your bounty.

Yeah thieving in a lot of games is not done well, but the ES games never get it quite right, and sometimes it can be downright awful.

I'm guessing since the controls seem to be focusing on the 360 version right now that the PC version will allow for controller compatibility?

Personally I hope so...I just hope Bethesda is more decisive in general. It seems like they compromised in both versions in Oblivion just so they didn't have to change much with either. Mouse vs. controller is pretty drastically different; lets make menu navigation/spell selection reflect that.

I was there during the presentation, and the killing of children was specifically asked about during the Q&A with director Todd Howard. Fun times!

Same guy asked if there would be dismemberment. It's something they're thinking of, apparently!

Oh, and couple of bow perks: Zoom, Hold breath and Slow-mo while aiming!

It better. There's no excuse for a multiplatform game to not have the option nowadays. Even Witcher 2 has controller support and that's PC only.

I'm hoping Bethesda doesn't make this mistake. It could be the difference between me buying the pc or 360 version.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas both have native control support, and Bioware isn't involved, so I would be very surprised if Skyrim didn't have pad support.

but it will, trust me

Imagine if the mod system allowed for fan created animations for characters through kinect.
Because I don't really think Bethesda will nail it this time.
