They haven't released a retail game since then, so I don't see your point. Portal 2 wasn't a decade ago, it was two years ago, a lot of studios don't put out games more frequently than that.
Half-Life 3 will be a retail game, and it will be on PS4, and it will make a lot of money.
My point was their earners are hats, and DOTA.
It probably isn't financially imperative to release physical copies of Half Life 3. They probably don't even need to come to consoles. We're not even sure Half Life 3 will be a game that could be released physically.
Perhaps it's a Walking Dead type episodic jobby? Pay incrementally? Might be f2p. And then on top of that, what is the value of having that highly anticipated game, exclusively on Steam?
I was just pointing out that it ISN'T a given, that it will be packaged, or that it will come to consoles. Especially as they're edging closer to stepping on each other's toes.
