That makes no sense at all. The 360 wireless controller has always-on LEDs and crazy-long battery life.
I love my PS4, but this is some bullshit.
Anyone saying "just turn the controller off", well, no. Obviously that doesn't work for games, but even with Netflix I might want to quickly pause the show for a whole bunch of reasons.
I don't even care about the light bars impact on battery, I just don't want my controller glowing. Ever.
Well, this is just great. Another piece of home electronics that I have to put fucking tape over. Thanks a lot.
So much for a new Sony, one month in and back to their old ways.

Presumably because the pros of the system outweighed this con. You can still enjoy a system while being annoyed by certain features/quirks. It's a reasonable thing to whine about, particularly when you know they could do something about it without any hardware changes. You knew it was going to be an issue when you bought it, why buy it then whine about it?
Maybe some third party controllers will come out that don't have the always on LED.
Yes, it's a tracking reference for the camera, the same principle as the Move. In this case they're also using it in place of the red dots of the DS3 to show when the controller is on, and which player/controller you are for local multiplayer. It has to be pretty bright for consistent tracking, but when the game isn't making use of that (which is most of them), it could be dimmed for everything else. What's the use for the light bar? Is it a sensor like the one of the Move?
This "feature", all by itself, prevents me from ever playing my PS3 when my SO is sleeping.
Speaking of annoyances, does the PS4 insist on emitting a high-pitched beep when you turn it on?

So Shu recognizes that there's a problem but refuses to to fix it?that tweet thread actually ends on a more positive note than is implied by the OP and CVG article IMO:
Plasmas have a superior picture compared to LCD/LED TVs. When you by a TV you look at the quality among other things such as size/price/etc. but you never keep in mind that someday some company may just create a device that has a LED build into their remote that will reflect of the TV.You knew it was going to be an issue when you bought it, why buy it then whine about it?

Then turn the controller sideways 180 degreesYou don't have a PS4 do you? When turning the controller off in Netflix the video pauses.
isn't the source for this article gaf? lol
What does that have to do with anything?
Glass reflects, surely that would have factored into your decision. Sony didn't make you buy a Plasma so now you have to deal with the issues that arise from having a glass screen.
Suck it up or don't play on the console, problem solved. Sony aren't going to spend time and money to "fix" something so trivial.
Why would you live there- level of delusion.
It's an asinine design choice, on Sony's part, that is easily fixable (by them), get over it.
Goddammit. Can we at least get an option to dim it? Fucker clearly shines through the tape I put over it and reflects in my TV.
So according to you I should settle for a screen with a worse picture because Sony doesn't want to give us the option to turn of their useless LED on the controller? A LED that has absolutely zero reason to be on when there's no PS EYE connected. Resulting in a LED that uses too much of the already low battery life of the DS4.What does that have to do with anything?

Good god just fucking deal with it, its a light it's not the end of the world. There are plenty of other things that need fixing or improving before enabling users to dim a fucking LED in a controller, get a sense of perspective. If it's such a ridiculous, world ending problem then take the controller apart and remove the LED.So according to you I should settle for a screen with a worse picture because Sony doesn't want to give us the option to turn of their useless LED on the controller? Your sounding an awful lot like Adam Orth right now.
So you're saying everyone who has a problem with it should just buy two controllers?Don't care. It's actually a neat feature! Battery? I have 2 controllers so that's no issue for me.
Again with the Adam Orth syle. So because I don't want a controller with a useless function enabled that significantly lowers the battery life(10h with LED vs 28h without LED) and gives a nasty reflection I'm acting entitled?Good god just fucking deal with it, its a light it's not the end of the world. When did gamers get so fucking whiny and entitled.

Since when became people corporate apologist?
Whenever I end up getting a PS4, I'll remember to pick up some electrical tape at the same time to tape over the light bar.
Pretty weird that they wouldn't let you turn it off when it's not needed.
So you're saying everyone who has a problem with it should just buy two controllers?
Then turn the controller sideways 180 degrees
It's used to differentiate which player is which like the numbered LED in DS3.

I guess you will need one in the future anyway for some local mp action.
How funny that the argument "you knew it before you bought it" goes other "problems" with the system as well. You knew it before you bought it and you bought it anyway and are now whining about it, deal with it or remove the LED, don't expect Sony to bow at your feet and give you the ability forthwith.
I'm not an apologist I'm just sick of people whining about inconsequential little things when there are actual things that could be added and improved.
Buy some electrical tape, remove the LED, sell the console, stop whining, I don't give a shit just do one of them.
COD local mp supports 16 bots in split. Glorious chaos and fun as hell.
And yes, one blue and one red light is not all that fun to watch on the screen.
