It's a bummer that this was a one-off joke with no actual impact on the game/scripting.

We reached out to the game's publisher, Ubisoft, who had no official statement but confirmed that it's just a joke. It doesn't affect combat difficulty or any other aspect of gameplay difficulty. The slider changes skin tone, but it's purely cosmetic.

Man, that's a bummer. But considering the cast of the original series is predominantly white, I should've known better to expect more ethnic hairstyles.

Plus, with Token and Nichole being the only black families in the series, art assets for dreads probably don't exist.

It was also reported that it would affect other gameplay aspects:

Installed FlyVPN, connected to the free Japan server, launched uplay and then SP was unlocked. Not sure why it would ask for a CD key.. hope you guys get it worked out.

It affects the amount of money you make from battles.

I remember them saying this from the get go of the joke's existance being revealed.

Honestly, it makes more sense than people for some reason hitting you harder, making smarter moves because you are black.
