Opposite, not in time , that is non existent. opposite in that I don't have time for multiplayer games.
I my youth (20s ) I played a ton of Quake 2/3, unreal tournament ,ut2004, Battlefield Vietnam, bf2, cod4, mw2, waw, TF, TF2, Everquest, Lotro, Vanguard, SW Galaxies. EQ2, Guild Wars, Rome /Medieval Total war, Rise of nations, doing lan or online multiplayer. Had a friend who had a dedicated gaming server room , one big Intel xeon server, and 10 desktop pcs setup and would have gaming nights. Smoking weed, drinking and fragging each other in Quake 3/UT (now called ut99)
Was a blast of a time. This lasted until he had a divorce and spent nights at the titty bar instead of hosting parties. Luckily online gaming was more of thing by then so didn't need the lan setup. Had upgraded my Pentium 3 w/voodoo card to a Athlon xp w/ geforce 3. Played games listed above for years. Never got into wow though, many friends did and that is all they played. I diversify my gaming interests.
I still had time for single player games. Espeically rpgs , city builders and strategy games like civ. Even getting married and with kids , had time to game., but here is where things stopped. I needed to be able to pause, and you can't do that in mp games. So i stuck playing single player games and very rarely mp. I used ds/psp -> 3ds / vita to circumvent time, by playing on the toilet or outside on the porch. The switch is all I ever wanted back then.
I am now 43 been divorced after a 10 year run, kids gone from home, and am recently engaged, 2nd time around. Still don't have time for multiplayer. I spend some time between calls and slow time at work (wfh) playing on the switch or civ/city skylines on the pc. Something again where I can pause and not require sound.
Then will play more switch on the toilet, and play some ps5 on my days off or here and there at night time.
I don't spend late night on consoles, as I would rather spend that with my girlfreind as Its something I regret about my first marriage. She comes first. I got plenty of time to game on days off or earlier in the night. Have a dedicated game room just for that.
So single player games are for me where it's at. I have tried multiplayer at friends request to play satisfactory, and risk for rain 2, which was fun but at the same time very very time consuming. Its fun here and there but takes a lot of dedication. It also makes some games not fun in that a lot of stuff you miss as someone else already did the stuff required. If you leave and come back another day you are lost or under leveled. I like my own pace. MP games back in the day didn't require commitment like now. Quake3/ut99 was fun for anyone . Sure you may get your ass handed to you but you still could try and have fun.
