Does Capcom has something with Brazil that pisses people off? Blanka? Laura? Second Impact Sean?

GGs Flux, glad you finally decided to play one of your mains at the end there. But wowww, Balrog feels super good. Is his TAP invincible AND safe? Felt like everything you pressed was positive, and his dash in grab/hk mixup seems really good since the hk seems to come out really quickly for the CC. Not really sure what Alex can do in that matchup, if anything.

GGs. Haha, I wouldn't call Balrog one of my mains... maybe Guile. Next time, let me know if you want me to play a specific character. I gotta tell ya though, my Mika is probably two times better than my Balrog is.

TAP's frame advantage depends on the level. Level 1 is -2, level 2 is -1, level 3 is 0 and so on. One thing is that you need to interrupt when I dash in. He's not plus forever, and eventually he'll need to either jump towards you, walk or dash to continue the pressure. Those are the openings where you can do something. He's one of the characters where you need to know his frame data to know when you can and can't challenge him.

Yeah, I need more experience fighting him. Definitely wanna try your Guile and Mika next time.

GGs, Producer. This MU seems hard as hell for Birdie, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it. I did better than last time. Incorporating Bullhorns more was the primary change I made, but Chun-Li's j.HK still stuffed it out too many times for my liking, so I need to get better with my reactions.

I liked that round where I got you with the dolphin dive, like, 4 times.

GGs. Haha yeah i was mindfluxed man, and my reactions suck to top it off. Also that ex rush move during Vtrigger seems unpunishable, i know its not a new thing but yeah. I swear i was trying to punish all those sweeps with ex legs but it just wouldnt come out.

What's different now is that EX Bull Head is -2 instead of -7. So if you're going against someone who's prone to go nuts like me in that phase, yeah, don't press anything at all after you block it because you might be eating another EX Bull Head immediately following it. Heck, it's probably best to not push anything in any situation after it because the pushback means you probably won't be hitting Birdie with anything good anyways.

Didn't Big Boss say this about himself?

"Kaz...we're cunts without a flag".

Lobby matches can get wonky af too, I've played with local friends before and it wouldn't show a 5 bar connection but the game ran fine, then on the next FT5 it would lag like crazy for no reason, then we'd quit and go back to the FT5 and it'd be smooth. Servers are a joke.

more like Balgod

If there is anything you can take away from Bonchan and Nemo's FT10 it is that you NEVER jump in on Bonchan's Nash. In my experience most Nash players are free in that department. Only two or three matches in and you could tell Bonchan had made himself a dashing and teleporting air raid shelter.

Damn i didnt know about that change, before it seemed unpunishable even at -7. Definately not pressing any buttons after haha.

Yeah Bonchan's aa game is immaculate. Air to air, air throw, ground normals, he has it all. Still looking real solid with nash.

I liked that one part where he punished the full screen jump with vt - sycthe

4. St HP startup slowed down by one or two frames
Wow! Someone must have got some pretty hard reads on you with Urien if they made you think a 12 frames start up move is too fast and need to be slowed down. ;p

But yea, Urien is disgustingly strong right now.

IMO, it's not the startup but the recovery that needs to be nerfed.

If it's gonna be a button that has great range, is safe on block and is an easy as fuck CC fish than it should be slow as fuck to recover.

I think its main problem is the reward Urien get after it, more damage than a lot of CAs, good corner carry and give Urien a great mix up opportunity all without spending any resources, pure bullshit. S1 Chun's back.HP was faster, stays active forever, had better hitbx and is plus on block, but it didn't get spammed as much because it wasn't nearly as rewarding!

Even if it was made -3 or -4, that will only stops it from being used to crush throw techs at point blank, and Urien has a lot of great alternatives for that. Being punishable wouldn't stop it from being spammed in neutral as we've seen with Nicalli's S1 st.HK.

Seeing it get killed will be a sad day though, such fun button. :(

It's not that it is a fast move - it just needs to be a less effective button to constantly press. I'd say slowing down startup is the solution - making it much slower on recovery might be an idea instead.

Floe is exactly right that you can play Urien with just that button (and dash forward throw) and you have his neutral game pretty much down. :/

And yeah I do seriously think Urien does not need to have invincible wakeup. He has his way of getting back into the round via Aegis and currently he's the only character who gets an air reset off of their reversal - which is flat out silly.

They better not kill Urien's st.HP. Most satisfying button in the game.

I know right!

But something will have to be done about it eventually, in a prefect world, they'd just make the push back from CC st.HP more so that you don't get a dash > cr.HP after it unless used at a pretty close range.

I think they could make it so Urien doesn't get a full dash in and combo after st.hp CC. Like Karin's st.hk for example.

edit: Welp

Is there a method for consistently landing Urien's crHP > empty headbutt > crHP? It seems like I have to space it perfectly to pull it off, yet in all the videos I've seen most pros are able to get it every time regardless of spacing.

I don't get why this game has platform filtering, but not region filtering. Like, wtf even is that?
It shouldn't need region filtering because the ping filtering, if it worked as intended, would be a proxy for region filtering. If someone is too far away to have a playable match, it should be reflected in the ping test. Obviously this shit doesn't work right, but you can see the rationale for lack of region filtering in matchmaking.

Lobbies are a separate issue, though, and they should have a ton of filtering options that are presently missing, including region. It appears that the game has a lot of trouble acquiring the basic data the lobbies already include, so I'm not holding my breath for improvements.

Yeah, that does seem like the best compromise. The risk/reward ratio for throwing that button out there as it stands is just wack.

Regarding the Capcom silence/lack of communication thing, TheSpoiler said it best. They need a community specialist whose job is to organize hype for upcoming things through streams, blogposts, trailers etc and keep in touch with the community about what's happening. NetherRealm has a person just like this in the form of Tyler Lansdown and he's terrific. Always communicates well and even in situations where he can't share much info, always says so and just gives you a hint as to when we can expect some news.

The weird thing is that it seems that the game has to connect to the lobby owner in order to get their country flag. But that information is available server-side, and I can't think of any reason why it is not sent along with the list of open lounges.

They need a weekly blog that's active every single week, even if just to say "nothing to talk about this week.".

Yea because people wouldn't complain about that lol. I understand the frustration but Giants put some perspective on it. Just a month ago the release a huge update and Akuma.

Any lobbies going on? Does anybody want to play

It was a chore clearing the casual challenge today.
Not only it took a long time to find matches, 1 out of 3 were lagging and i stumbled upon the one guy that care about his casual consecutive wins and quit mid match...

I don't think there is a winning streak in casual.

I dunno, I don't think there should be communication for the sake of communication. If they have something concrete to present to us then that is fine but I don't want them to give false hope to people when they have nothing substantial to show. Last couple days we had a blog post and Haunts on Reddit, which is good, but I do think they need a community manager for this game like we do in Europe with Matt Edwards. He is really great at the Winner Stays On show which airs every week and gives us small hints when he can, which is why it's even more baffling when the US doesn't have a Community Manager for SFV considering this game is way more popular there than Europe.
