this is maybe the worst day of my life.
Contender for OT thread title?
this is maybe the worst day of my life.
This system better function with a dead (or removed) battery when plugged into an outlet. Still irks me the 3DS went a step back in that regard and, unlike the DS Lite, needs a battery in the console to function when plugged into a power source.
This is how batteries work. What exactly is hard to understand about the decision? There really wasn't one.
The charge time will be longer than the play time.
The small print to the small print to the small print. How many limitations related news in less than 24 hours?
4310mah is actually normal for the screen size, if not higher than compared to the average phone with the same screen size and most phones with a similar screen size are 1080p
I think people are looking at this in context with all the other questionable Switch decisions and the fact you could replace your DS batteries.
The charge time will be longer than the play time.
no it actually is going to replace 3ds and it is going to have revisions just like 3dsThe thing about Switch being a hybrid system means you always hear justifications that skew towards the side other than the one the discussion is about depending on how it suits the person. For instance:
1) When there is a concern about Switch's power especially for its price and year of launch, the justification is "It's a console that goes portable and the difference between it and 3DS is huge". Also implying that it's fine for it to be like that because it provides a big jump from 3DS.
2) When there is a concern about its portability such as this thread, the justification becomes something along the lines of "It was never meant to be a portable console that replaces 3DS".
Smh
Going by the games, these aren't games designed for mobile and mobile power. Obviously they are gonna demand a lot from the battery.
Better battery life would be awesome, don't get me wrong, but I think all this was to be expected. Battery life is shit in general and something like this I expected to be, pretty much right what it is.
I'll wait for more information, but I'd guess that it could play and charge just fine, but again with the power it must demand to process these games... I dunno seems right in line.
Maybe you all have fantastic mobile devices, but all of mine, if I do anything at all taxing with them, battery and charging goes to shit. Just the nature of the beast.
Can demand amazing things from hardware, but if you expected this to have amazing battery life and be super mobile and a pure mobile device... well I dunno.
To me its always seemed clear, you play this at home, but hey if you wanna go on the train for an hour or to the park, you can do that for a bit.
Not TAKE IT ON THE 8 HOUR TRAIN RIDE!!! GONNA BE FINE!
A 12" retina MacBook has a 5297 mAh battery.
The PS Vita-2000 has a 2210 mAh battery.
The N3DS has a 1400mAh battery.
Not sure what you're getting at?
Ok?Lol have you guys own a Dyson cordless vacuum?
That thing's charging time is 3.5 hrs and you can only use it for 20 mins.

Jesus. Christ.
They never tried to sell it as a portable replacement. In fact after the reveal trailer, they came out and outright said that it's a home console and shouldn't be looked at as a portable. You can take it out, but it's not the new DS, like some members want to believe.
this is maybe the worst day of my life.
Welcome to the world of electric razors.

maybe the revision will be worth picking up... idk
The charge time will be longer than the play time.
I'm feeling that SoC nVidia offered is.. while very reasonable price wise, as for battery life it is simply not competitive at all.

oh for god sakes.. so much hyperbole in here..
It uses USB-C get a bettery pack. it's what i did for my Wii U game pad and what i have for my 3DS i never run out of power.
Basically it's a home console, with the added cost and drawbacks of being portable, but is actually a pretty awful portable?

I don't see how it couldn't have Quick Charge that's basically the whole point of USBC

not removable? what if it dies? rip device?
that's not good at all.
As long as you can also charge your phone at the same time to not lose party chat.oh for god sakes.. so much hyperbole in here..

Ok?
A vacuum is not a game console, so I don't get the comparison. Besides, vacuums use a fuck of a lot more power than a console.
The macbooks cost over a grand and run very efficient skylake CPUs, and the other two examples are not powering 6.2 inch screens with games much more intensive at 720p
I'm getting at 4310 mAh is shit for what the Switchs USP is. It is not hard.
ive been trying to stay positive today despite the barrage of terrible news, but this... this is when the tears started welling up. its almost difficult to breathe like im having a panic attack or something. i hate nintendo so goddamn much. they're ruining everything the rumors and my imagination had made up.
