Test Drive Unlimited 2 annouced (360/PS3/PC)

I loved how the delivery missions were constantly teasing you. Being given a really fast car early in the game and told to drive a long distance without hitting anything, it was always a fine balancing act. The temptation to floor it was immense, but then you risked hitting something and losing money, however if you drove slowly it would take an eternity to reach your destination.
Just like I felt! :lol I remember flooring it on straight roads, then nearly crashing into something when the first turn turned up or a oncoming car :lol

So we're all in agreement: More Delivery Missions. Good stuff. I thought I'd be the only one that enjoyed them. Nothing like driving 12 miles just to pull out without looking properly and then re-start because you know you deserved it. Always in cockpit view too. Makes overtaking a real rush.

Best part of delivery mission is when the guy in front of you decides to slam on his brakes for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON.

Way too close to real life IMO.

I also liked how an empty road in the opposite driving direction suddenly was filled with cars when you really started to put pedal to metal to try out a fast car.

For me TDU is one of those racing games that really makes you feel like you're on a driving holiday. I'd like to see more real life situations like queues, road accidents and maybe som random roadwork that forces you on a different route. Hell, you could even let the satnav redirect you away from heavy traffic! :D

Anyone else find the secret island from TDU1? Can't remember how you got there but it was pretty neat, like a little resort.
There's a little 'e' (the Eden logo) on the map over on the east side (if I remember rightly) roughly in line with the little island itself. It's off the beaten track, on top of a ridge.

There's not a lot to do on the extra island but it makes for some cool photos.

Man I loved TDU. Been less than a week since I last played it, it'll be less than a week before I play it again. I've deleted my save and completed the game three times now.

Nothing like taking the Aston out of the garage and taking it for a stroll.:D

100% Truth.

One time I couldn't hold back anymore, and floored the SLR I believe, and crashed with less than a mile to go.

WOW man the 1st half of that trailer is soooo good !!! Alas not so convinced with the offroad part. TDU may not have the best graphics or the most realistic physics on the market, but damn it has this charm that made me smile all the trailer long (what is the name of that song ? It need it)

adding more Sims stuff was really not the direction I wanted this to go in. It looks worse than Playstation Home.

I was expecting a Just Cause 2 leap in graphics and gameplay but it ain't looking that good. Car movement reminded me of matchbox cars.

Sigh, I just want the first game with driving mechanics that don't make you want to end yourself after 10 minutes.

Indeed. The sad thing is, they fixed that (well, different developer actually) in the PSP/PS2 versions.

Also, considering that most of the top DJs in the world have residencies in Ibiza, that's the best song they could come up with for the trailer?

It's like having a game set in 60s london and using a Herman's Hermits song in the trailer.

You guys from an alternate dimension or something? I played TDU1 for weeks on both 360 and PC, and I can't remember the handling being bad at all. The only annoyance was there wasn't any smooth curves on the road, just a bunch of very sudden bumps as you went uphill or downhill.

TDU2 will probably end up being my alltime favourite racer unless they mess it up somehow. Weather effects and night time were the 2 things I really wish were in TDU1. Having 2 islands is a huge bonus!

First part of that trailer is like The Sims Unlimited or something. :lol

I was just wondering if the off-road was in the game, like was shown in the leak what seems like years ago... and there it is.

Still wouldn't mind a new V-Rally, though. :D

Looking good but concerned the that cars seem to pivot in the middle rather than front.
Driving physics are supposed to be improved so hope this will change before release.

House decorating and dressing up aren't things I particularly care for in my racing games. At best it'll allow me to stack couches and make my douchey avatar look like an idiot. But they've made additions and improvements everywhere else as well, which is what matters in the end.

I didn't think TDU was bad in the physics area, but it could certainly be better. I'm hoping it'll feel more like PGR.

yeah, exactly. since there was so much road a lot of it was a little wonky. well and the crash physics were definitely a bit off

they might, but it's impossible to tell from that trailer, since the camera is set to the center of the cars there they would rotate that way no matter what

My hype is on standby mode. Show me cop chases. If they are in there, then I am in too. Otherwise, I'm skipping.

Just catching up on the trailer that got released. The game looks awesome. TDU 1 was the evolution of racing/driving games and this looks to capitalize on what the first one did. It doesn't have to be the prettiest game out there, it is just really different than any other driving experience available on the market. Thats why Blur and Split/Second got made because regular driving games have essentially peaked and fighting against GT and Forza is more or less pointless.

Looks like the game's releasing September 10th. Amazon is offering $10 and a Vantage as preorder bonuses.

Those awaiting the arrival of Test Drive Unlimited 2 shouldn't make any travel plans for the second week of September, because Atari's already booked you for a trip to Ibiza. The scenic racing game is due to be released on September 10, 2010 in North America, and pre-order campaigns will roll out beginning this week (May 28). As has become the norm, various retailers will feature unique bonuses in exchange for your solemn vow to purchase the game from them. Here's a quick rundown of what's being offered to pre-purchasers:
Amazon pre-order bonus: Aston Martin V12 Vantage Carbon Black special edition, in-game avatar apparel and Amazon video games store credit (amount TBA)
Atari.com: custom Nissan 370Z
Best Buy: Aston Martin DBS Carbon Black special edition
GameStop: TDU2: Casino Online bonus game (including poker, roulette and slots; playable with friends online) and two exclusive unlockable cars
Walmart: Inuit finish Audi Q7 V12 TDI Quattro, in-game avatar apparel and Walmart.com gift card (amount TBA).
We recently saw Test Drive Unlimited 2 in action and will have hands-on impressions of the game from E3.

Wario64

works for Gamestop (lol)
Going up against Halo Reach by a few days. Sent to die.

Weird date to be released though, 10th is a Friday

That close to Halo might not be a good idea, but what choice do they have this year I guess. I hope it sells if the reviews are strong.

Any earlier they hit Mafia 2 and Dead Rising 2. Then again EB games says Sept 21 and that makes a bit more sense. Oct is a bit of a wasteland.

If the reviews are solid I'll buy. Cover art looks awful though, as does the 'exotic life sim' aspect :p

You played the last game didn't you? The exotic life sim part was good. Felt like a millionaire simulator. This game needs more of that.

I still cannot wait for this. Picked up the original for $10AU about two years ago and it just felt like fun. Driving on gold courses was fucking awesome :lol I won't be disappointed if they don't model their cars as well as F3 or PGR4 if they just get the handling decent and the big-world feel like the first one.

I hate that the Walmart pre-order exclusive is the Veyron Super Sport. I don't even know if Walmart Canada is doing that promotion. If not, I'm basically screwed out of getting the best car in the game because I don't live in the good ol' US of A. What a stupid car to pick as an exclusive. They should be picking weird cars for that stuff.

I jump in it.

TDU 1 was awesome.

Not bothered by the Bugatti being exclusive. Didn't use a lot of the super fast cars in the first one(except the Saleen for grinding money).

Just cruised around online in the 250 GTO.
