The Evil Within 2 |OT| "Something not quite right"

I played like 1 hour now ave it looks really good . I can confirm that there is no Ps4 pro support neither 4k hdr support:-(

But it’s fun and very story driven which is good .

If you have questions about the game let me know

Hey bud, can you tell any difference with boost mode turned on or off since no Pro support?

Does that translate to tons of cutscenes and/or generally taking control away from the player?

As.car as PRO support is concerned, I simply don't believe any AAA release would skip it outright, especially when it supposedly has X1X support. That would be incredibly dumb. I believe it'll be there. Perhaps because Bethesda is chummy with MS, they decided to delay until the X1X launches. That would be bullshit, but I could see it. Regardless of how marginal or insignificant it might be, and regardless of how it takes for a patch to happen, I think the PRO support will be there.

Also wondering if it's a patch you have to download and it's not available yet. But it's weird we don't know anything about this.

Wrong info. CDkeys usually comes with preorder bonus, they just can't confirm until they get the boxes.

It was correct info at the time as cdkeys initially sent a reply that it would not come with DLC. That info was changed later from Cdkeys themselves.

Probably because of the idTech 5 engine and the bad optimization?
There will be a DF technical test I presume?
Yes, but keep in mind I'm talking about the original game NOT the second game.

I only have the PS4 version thus far and am beginning my tests which will go up on review day at some point, hopefully. Still need to get XO and PC.

  • Main char(Sebastian) and his wife(Myra) are both cops and have a kid called Lily
  • Lily dies in a house fire along with her babysitter.
  • Wife(Myra) eventually vanishes, she was sure some foul play was involved
  • One day Sebastian gets a call about some trouble at Beacon Mental Asylum
  • Him and his partner Joseph go to check it out along with a rookie called Juli
  • They hear a pitched sound before they arrive at Beacon
  • There they find everyone massacred and Seb goes to check the video feed
  • He's attacked by a strange figure and wakes up hanging upside down
  • Basically someone made a machine that can connect consciousnesses called STEM
  • One of them has to be the core or main consciousness
  • Shady organization wants the core gone and the machine for themselves
  • The strange pitched noise was a wireless signal that transported you into it
  • You have many wacky adventures but you manage to survive(not typing anything cuz of spoilers)
  • Juli was working for shady org called Mobius all along

This is just a short outline with info on the main antagonist other than shady org missing.

TEW2 starts out with a drunk and jobless Seb being approached by Kidman with the news that Lily is alive and being used as a core in a new STEM. You gotta find and save her because she went missing.
Can't read "Kidman" without hearing it in Seb's voice. KID-man.

I am waiting for used copies, everything about this game seems like a disappointment compare to the first game.

The first Evil Within is flawed, but at least it is a dark, intense and atmospheric experience, intriguing and creative in pretty much every aspect. The combat is well thought out too, there are many ways to deal with monsters than just shoot or stealth, you are often rewarded for being smart and creative.

Here's is one of my favorite ways to instant kill an enemy using one empty bottle:

giphy.gif

Find a bottle, throw it at someone's face, crouch immediately and then press the button once the stealth kill icon shows up. The game told you nothing about this, but it is a very common tactic among TEW players.

The Evil Within 2 on the other hand just seems like a open world The Last of Us clone with shallow combat system, they even removed the matches. Now it's all just pew pew pew and crafting.

Another thing, the first TEW is a very challenging game with very little ammo and resources, which makes pretty much every enemy scary. From what I have seen in TEW2 (watched more than 5 livestreams from Chapter 1 to 6 so far), the game generally seems forgiving and casual, facing an enemy no longer feels intense and scary.

I think you'll be surprised with the amount of options in this sequel

Yeah I figured that much.
I am confident that my setup will run this game flawlessly.
Looking forward to your tests,

Wait, they removed the black bars that were in the original? Damn, I liked them.

I'll play TEW II after Fire Emblem Warriors and Super Mario Odyssey, but I didn't enjoy the first game and wasn't pleased with the direction of the trailers. Looking forward to it, though.

Damn! All the stores around me say pick up on Friday. Won't the register just block it anyway?

Yeah, at Best Buy the register will block the sale and afaik, there is nothing they can do in store to bypass. Even if the site says items are ready for pick up, it will not work.

Can someone tell me where you are getting the cdkeys code? Is it emailed? On the site? I got nothing.

I didn't get a new email either. I found the email that was sent to me when I first pre-ordered, clicked on the Download link and followed the steps to get the codes.

I got an email overnight with my keys for the game. It was titled: Your codes for order (order number) are ready

Also if you still have our original email receipt from when you bought it, there's a link in that email that will take you to them also. that links updates automatically.

Where can I find info on PS4 pro support?
Also does this title have HDR or 4K checerboard for ps4 pro?

There isn't any information about Pro support yet. It appears that it isn't include at the moment but there could possibly be a Day 1 Patch for it. We just don't know.

We'll hopefully know more tomorrow once the embargo lifts

Ok, so I got this game totally unexpected today already. I won't properly start until Saturday but couldn't resist to take a small peak already. And coming directly from Evil Within 1, which I wrapped up just two days ago, I REALLY dig part 2. It seems like it's an improvement in every single way.

Just a few tidbits:

- Graphics are a HUGE step forward compared to one. It's not even funny. I can't confirm that it supports 4k but it looks extremely crisp on my 1080p TV which leads me to believe that it is downsampled. But take this with a grain of sault.
- Sebastian looks like Bruce Campbell and sounds weird thanks to the exchanged voice actors. But it's not that bad.
- Animation, while still a bit stiff, have clearly been improved. Controls feel much better in part 2.
- Storytelling has, thank god, been improved a lot. The introduction and the goal is clear. You know immediately what it's all about.

That's about it from my short park into the game. From the first 30 minutes alone I can already tell that I am going to like this game loads more than the messy first part. The weekend should be fun. Can't wait.

I said this when the first trailer came out and no one else seemed to agree. Glad I'm not crazy.
