The Formula 1 2014 Season |OT2| Louder Than Formula E

What didn't they announce everything at once?

Are we to expect an announcement tomorrow?

What a mess.

At this point I'm surprised they haven't built an underground track so they can just flout the rules.

With how messed up they are, don't give them ideas.

LOL They (initially) spelled his name wrong. Damn.

They have the Janitor.

About that...

Chief Ferrari Janitor Steps Down

Efforts to clean house at Ferrari have suffered a setback, following the resignation of chief janitor Custo De Ingenere. The future of De Ingenere has been the subject of intense speculation in recent months, following a poor adaption to dual cyclone technology.

“Ferrari is without a doubt the most prestigious and well funded team in the paddock,” said Eddie Jordan, speaking to a cardboard cutout of Martin Brundle. “But while everything looks pristine on the surface, it is clear that sweeping reforms are needed.”

De Ingenere is likely to take a role elsewhere within the FCA Group, with paddock sources reporting that the number two cleaner will fill the vacuum.

Senior performance engineer. Was previously race engineer.

Neil Martin (strategist) also out of Ferrari. He was head of Operations Research at Ferrari.

Ferrari hired 60 people from Mercedes, Red Bull, McLaren and Renault Sport

Within the racing division at Ferrari, there have been 60 new hirings," added Perna, revealing that one of them is Mercedes hybrid specialist Wolf Zimmermann. And "Cedric Cornebois, an expert in combustion, also comes from Mercedes," Perna said.

Maybe they don't want to announce a mass sacking and are spreading them out?

Apparently quite a nice deal of those new people won't work only on F1 part of the team, but also on other sectors (road car, endurance, road engine development)

Jock Clear has been at Mercedes since they were Honda. I don't think you could credit him as the sole reason for Mercedes's success in recent years, but he's probably made as significant a contribution as anyone.

So, according to Bernie Mercedes is to blame for the financial troubles because their engine is too expensive. This is of course utterly moronic as:

-None of the really struggling teams (Caterham, Marussia, Sauber) are Mercedes customers.

-The Mercedes engine is by far the least expensive.

Also Bernie is saying Mercedes is the only engine manufacturer who would vote for keeping the current engines. This despite Honda joining at least in part because of the new engines and Renault being the ones who wanted to introduce them in the first place. It has also been very noticeable how Renault haven't said a word in support of Horner's public tirades against the current engines.

Good news - The Sauber C34 Chassis passed crash tests today and is FIA homologated. Rear crash test will follow in January, as usual

Ah. I tried looking it up but couldn't find anything. Is that number related to Nasr in any other way? Maybe by coincidence it was one of his numbers in an earlier series too.

Hmm, now that you asked, I made some research and found that he used the #12 when he won the european Formula BMW championship, back in 2009.

In 2014 he used the #40 as a reserve and test driver for Williams. Decided to change it.

Lotus say the move to Mercedes has given them 85BHP more and 18kg less in weight.

What was the gappage between the 2014 engine? 40-60bhp?

Gap was rumored between 40-60 bhp and could be that Mercedes tweaked their engine for 2015 even more, with new, lighter components.

Plenty of rumours said that they had gained another 70 out if the 2015 unit.

Are Lotus taking gearboxes too or just the PU? Mercs gearbox was snazzy too.

Horner about Vettel:

"He didn't like what F1 had become and was quite vocal about it - didn't like the engines, the noise, the way the car felt," Horner said.

"He was pretty upset about that at the beginning but once he realised that was it - it wasn't going to change - he started to get his head around it. He worked very hard, as he always has.

"But he got very frustrated the car wasn't doing what he wanted it to do and of course to compound that his team-mate is winning a couple of races and performing at the level he was."

"The rule changes were significant and the two guys who seem to have been affected most are Seb and Kimi and I think taking away the rear downforce has actually been a big factor for Sebastian," Horner said.

"How he generated his lap time was very much using the rear of the car on entry into the slower corners, which was much diminished this year, and that together with the brake-by-wire system had taken away some of the feeling of the braking that he is so dependent on.

"He is such a 'feel' driver that some of those feelings had been muted and it dumbed down some of his performance."

Vettel, EBD-kid. Without his toy Sebby is lost and Perez was absolutely spot on saying this 2 years ago:

"In terms of pure speed, Nico Rosberg is the fastest German," Perez is quoted as saying.

"But Sebastian is the more complete driver and a great champion,"
