Fun fact, Bob Woodward spent upwards of 15 hours a day wearing a pizza costume, the traditional uniform of investigative journalism. He'd just shake his head if you tried showing up in a hot dog suit though. Just more proof that games "journalism" has a long way to go.

So is that like when the guy put on black face in order to write about what it was like to be black in the early 20th century?

I watched it before I posted. It just didn't look as interesting as their other SR3 videos they showed. Shooting dozens of enemies in close quarters doesn't seem like what people are looking for in this game.

Except that's only 1 out of 4 activities in the DLC, despite Ryan saying otherwise.
Genkibowl VII isn't great, but this Quick Look did short change it pretty badly.

I'm disappointed with Genkibowl, it barely adds anything to the game. The "missions" are just two activities and the whole thing is very short. I'm glad I got the season pass for basically nothing, otherwise I would be pretty pissed.

Oh ok. The quick look still sucks though.

One of the worst quick looks I've seen on the site. Not really surprised given the knowledge of what Genki is from playing through the game. However learning that there is a different activity in the DLC besides genkibowl is a pretty glaring omission for a quick look so short.

Yeah, there's 4 new activities:

The one in the quicklook, a skydiving one, crushing everything in your path with a giant ball of yarn, and one where you drive professor Genki around in a car with flamethrowers.

You also get some new homies and vehicles and such.

It's short, but not bad IMO.

Sounds like more of the boring shit that I only touched when I was forced to by the games terrible introduction sequence.

kind of disappointed robbie's character model isnt just Rob Van Dam.

I just hope THQ can stay around long enough to finish and release the gangsters in space DLC.

I don't think THQ will go anywhere this year yet. And even if they do, it most likely won't effect the upcoming DLC.

Well they already sold the season passes, so one would hope they finish all the DLC. :lol

But yeah, lame QL. Showing another of the activities would've probably salvaged it.

Watched the quick look, not terribly surprised. At a glance, it looks like it follows the Saints Row 3 model of setting up a wacky and funny situation, which I like, but then immediately jumping into mechanically mediocre and unfun gameplay, which I don't. Give me an expansion that's just their brand of funny cutscenes so I don't have to play the bad game underneath and I'd bite.

Positively surprised they dismissed this pos dlc as fast as they did considering how taken Brad and Ryan were with the full game.

The DLC is shit, they dismissed it in a fair amount of time. They already knew vaguely what it was since they mentioned the ball of wool.

They took the shitty side missions from the main game, changed them slightly, and charged £5 for it, and it was on the disc. It's everything that's shitty about DLC.

It's not on the disc, it's a couple hundred meg download.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't for me.

EDIT: It's 1751KB.

Are you on PS3? I know they tend to put DLC like that in patches on PS3 (since there's no size limit on updates) so that those playing multiplayer can still see it in game. That's what they did with Mortal Kombat for example. That'd explain why your download was smaller than mine, as I'm on 360.

real cool stuff. shattered horizon was real cool too, I suspect futuremark is a straight up real cool developer. Hope this does better for them than shattered horizon. :(

They announced another game along side unstoppable gorg, no? prolly gonna be real cool.

Indeed. Definitely going to pick this up.

I am, but I didn't download a patch this week.

Never heard of this game outside this quick look, but I can already tell Ryan is playing it wrong. The towers appear to still shoot at the saucers while you rotate it, so you should probably be moving the towers to keep up with the saucers as they fly by. Of course this does lead to the tower getting more damage taken from the saucers, but thats a small price to pay.

You could probably use that technique to get through the first wave of enemies with only one offensive tower, allowing you to to open with money generator - offensive tower - money generator. It seems to pay for itself incredibly quick so you should probably try to get away with as many money generators as possible before needing the slot open to get something to shoot stuff. Considering how fast they pay for themselves you can be pretty generous with those things. Even if you have to sell it 10 seconds later you arent losing money, and it delays that next tower or tower upgrade only 10 seconds.

I enjoyed everything but the escort one honestly. Driving the little shit around trying to stay on the fucking sidewalk to slaughter pedestrians without destroying the car was a PITA.

The bottom line is it's not worth paying extra for more activities. The DLC adds nothing but more activities to a base game already overstuffed with them, and the activities are arguably the weakest part of the game. It's not so much that they are all bad (though I passionately disliked as many as I loved), and the game would undoubtedly be a weaker package without them, but it's that the game is at its best when you're doing totally random open world stuff, mass murdering rival gang operations and buying up property, and interspersing it with the mostly brilliant missions.

how do I slip unnoticed out of a gloryhole booth?
Damn, that looks dope. It's like the parts of MvC that I like(which isn't a lot) and the parts of SF4 that I like(which is a lot)

how do you feel about mad amounts of powerful, gameplay affecting dlc? :3

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!

Looks interesting, but the gem system seems overly complicated. Or maybe it was poorly explained. Sifting through that menu and equipping various gem properties that activate based on specific situations or challenges? Sounds like it is over-complicating the game. Probably not in reality, but again, not described well in that vid.

Funny how the discussion veered off into whom would be viable on the roster for a SF vs. Tekken game. Mike Haggar couldn't make it in because he's Final Fight...yet here is Cole from Infamous and those two Sony cat mascots in Japan. Fucking hell.

Yeah, but I'm sure there's money involved there. If you did Mike Haggar, Namco would say 'well put in Knightmare' or something

True, the semantics argument is just weird to listen to. I mostly imagine Mike wouldn't make the cut based on him never being an actual SF character. Thus they would literally be creating a new fighter from scratch, kind of the rub against the point of the game, which is pitting two franchises that people are already familiar against each other...kinda. In a way that is vastly different from either property has played in the past.

Fuck it, they should have just tossed Haggar and Knightmare in there.

I think it looks gorgeous. The backgrounds might be the best I've ever seen out of Capcom with all the crazy shit going on back there.

Yeah, the stages are some fantastic stuff, with the different tiers and background cameos and such. My favourite thing is probably how well the Tekken characters have been realised in the SF style, though- it's surprising how well core Tekken characters like Paul, Kazuya and Nina fit in with the SF lot.

It's a unique look, and it paid off well.

They also forgot that Poison was in the game, and didn't know about Pac-Man and Megaman.

To be fair, they aren't confirmed, and there's no guarantee they'll have watched the new trailer. But yeah, I wanted to see some Poison gameplay too :(

Meanwhile, that golf QLEX is just fascinatinzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
