Just read that Gilgamesh is in this game, and not only does he use attacks from FF7-9(Squall's Lionheart et al.), but you can also steal Loto's Legendary Sword from him(DQ1-3)!

I just downloaded the soundtrack, though; it's rad.

Balthier (AWESOME), Penelo, and Fran.

I really should've grabbed Ashe and Vaan when I had the chance, I don't see them anywhere anymore. Actually I don't see any of the posters anymore.
Don't get me wrong, in a genre full of mediocrity such as JRPGs, FFXII is quality. It's just that people disappointed by FFX's gameplay expecting to be blown away by FFXII are gonna be disappointed. FFX had a perfected version of turn based combat, and a decent character advancement system.
FFXII has a decent but unpolished new combat system that will benefit from future refinement, and a really crappy advancement system.
It's not bad by any stretch, it's just not gonna blow people's minds in the way they think it is.

Does this game have a world map system like the old FF's? like FFVII/VIII where you'd travel the world on foot/air/water and you can manually go to the destination that you want or is it like FFX where you have points on a map where you go directly without traveling?
thanks.

How was the LG crappy and the SG decent? LG is like a more customisable version of the Job Class system. It could have been implemented much better, but I wouldn't say it's crappy. The system itself actually helps you to spread your characters through the grid because of the Mist Knacks. With the huge variety of magic spells and equipment, you can make the characters very different from each other. It's only problem is late in the game, when you can learn every license. But even then, as long as you keep different gambits and equipments to each character, they still don't feel clones. The SG forces you to check the menu after every battle, and most of the time, the SG paths are very linear. It's like a manual leveling up system for most of the game, and near the end, you get around 20-99 S.Levels per battle and make your characters over-powered clone-gods in a couple of hours.Don't get me wrong, in a genre full of mediocrity such as JRPGs, FFXII is quality. The sphere grid's real interest comes not from the generic spheres, but the White Magic/Black Magic/Abililty/Friend/Move spheres that allow you to take basically set in stone characters (if you're playing on the standard grid) and really expand on them. The License Grid almost doesn this with the Mist Knacks but itGrivenger said:How was the LG crappy and the SG decent? LG is like a more customisable version of the Job Class system. Ah, no. See just because it's challenge does not make it more strategical. FFX had tons of strategy, which, if you followed helped ease the fights a lot. There were still pleanty of tough fights boss fights, though and random battles went fairly fast assuming you knew which strategies to use. FFXII's challenge really feels artificial in comparison, but I can't yet make a full remark on this because I've yet to be able to get through the game without giving up from boredom. Also, you forgot to mention that FFXII is actually challenging, unlike FFX (excluding the sub-bosses), thus it's much more strategical. The challenge is a huge factor in any gameplay. What's the point of having so many spells and abilities if you can kill every enemy in one hit and every strong enemy or strong boss with overdrives/limit breaks or other overpowered attacks? How cares if FFX's battle system is more polished if all you need to do in battle to win is to kill 90% of the enemies in one hit with the right character and kill most of the bosses by using overdrives, mainly the ones from Aeons?
That's all I can come up with too.Aeana said:I have heard that it is leather-bound/hardback, but I don't know if that's true or not.
