Day Z the MOD was only released jnthe Spring.. No studio is starting a full game from scratch and releasing it a few months later.
I believe I'll be there day one as well. Night gameplay sold me on it. Can't wait to be a sneaky snake
From what I understand they started development a long time ago but only until DayZ got popular did they switch to it actually being a zombie survival game. That's why peeple are "nitpicking".I'm amazed that people still think this is a cash in on Day Z. Obviously there was a rush to get it finished due to the popularity of the MOD, but it's been in development for quite some time. Day Z the MOD was only released jnthe Spring.. No studio is starting a full game from scratch and releasing it a few months later.
But people want to nitpick for the sake of nitpicking. Don't like it? Don't play it.

He's secretly an employee of whatever company is making this game.Dubq is really coming off as a paid shill in these last couple pages...
Um I applied for the Beta and instead of being able to test it out, I have to pay to play it? The fuk.
Looks like a rush job. From what I gather, this game was originally made from WarInc.(the companies other online game) After WarInc they started work on a huge open world player vs player fps. When it was finally officially announced it suddenly was filled with zombies and called WarZ...
I don't see why pointing out where this game came from is such a bad thing.......
If it's good I will get it, if it's bad I will skip it. Currently it looks terrible to me.
Yeah I'm totally a paid shill man. Totally! I'm just rolling in dough for getting hyped about a game I'm interested in. Really, you should see my bank account and all the deposits from Hammerpoint.Dubq is really coming off as a paid shill in these last couple pages...
...and what lie would that be?Yeah, if you call somebody on bald-faced lies it is just nitpicking, I get it.
The lie about this title being developed as a zombie game in advance of Day Z....and what lie would that be?
Honestly? I don't care. Those sceenshots say nothing to me about whether or not th game was originally intended to revolve around zombies. And really, know one knows that but the devs.
To me, that's like ripping on Yakuza Dead Souls for repurposing assets from the previous Yakuza games. If they can repurpose, then why not? Especially if it makes a better gaming experience.
I dobt mean to aound defensive, but I'm just a little sick and tired of people shitting on this game and who try to make those of us who are legit hyped about it out to be idiots. It's a video game for christ sake.
The lie about this title being developed as a zombie game in advance of Day Z.
Repurposing a game that's already in development and pivoting to capitalize on the new hotness isn't necessarily a bad thing.
What's shady is acting like you were doing it along. Ye Olde Internet will dig up the truth whether you like it or not.

If they can do it better than Day Z then more power to them, and I am more than happy to give it a chance. I like/d Day Z but in all honesty it was a buggy and clunky mess.To be honest, I feel that people are a bit hostile to WarZ because it feels like a quick cash-in on the DayZ phenomenon. I just cannot be hyped for a product that exists mostly on paper and from a company that has no history beyond a pretty bad third person shooter. It doesn't help that they are heavily reusing assets and animations from WarInc.
I'll wait for a beta or some actual user feedback instead of promises and grand tales from the developer.

You missed the part where I stated: "Repurposing a game that's already in development and pivoting to capitalize on the new hotness isn't necessarily a bad thing."?Honestly? I don't care. It's a cash grab, but it's understandable that they will re-use assets. They wanted to do a zombie game to get a piece of that pie, and this was obviously the most efficient way to do it. It's not dissimilar from DayZ re-using ARMA2 assets actually.
Repurposing a game that's already in development and pivoting to capitalize on the new hotness isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Dear dubq:
I have played Dayz a lot. It wasn't "a buggy mess", the ratio between playing fine and weird stuff happening was pretty low for me, maybe I was lucky. But the game made me feel tension and fear in a way I haven't felt in more than 25 years in gaming so yes, it's something special. And you can't deny that the game exploded, making people buy the hell out of arma 2. So I kinda grew attached to it and I wanted(and still want) the game to be better. Way better. While I'm here waiting for the Dayz standalone version, this game comes out of "nowhere" surounded by some shady stuff and for me, having played Dayz, it feels like a cash in. Nothing bad with it being a cash in as long as it's good, but so far there's nothing that suggests it's good. Remember, I have played Dayz, I loved the game, I know what I'm looking for. Of course I'm going to be a bit bias about a game I liked. And there's A LOT of things that I see and read that I don't like about WarZ. So this "new" game is obviously made for people that liked Dayz, but when people like me(supposedly the target right?) speak out our minds, saying what we don't like, we are ignored, shrugged off or just outright lied to. And when someone that has not even played the game is "defending it" like his life depended on it(in a sloppy fashion I must say), it's hard to not become suspicious of your motives. I sincerely hope you're being paid for this. The alternative is too scary for me.
What the...?
I wrote some sloppy stuff but I don't think it's worth it so I'm just going to say:
To me, this game has a Transmorphers vibe(trying to badly cash in on people wanting to rent transformers).

The point has been made and there is no sense in arguing with it. Cashing in on DayZ success is not the problem. Stating that it was their intention all along is a full on, out in out LIE.If they can do it better than Day Z then more power to them, and I am more than happy to give it a chance. I like/d Day Z but in all honesty it was a buggy and clunky mess.
It gets tiring reading that "DayZ is a buggy mess!". It's an alpha. Again, it's an alpha.
Was WarZ likely a cash grab after DayZ? Probably. Still I think there is plenty of market for both of them to exist. Both games also look to have a different feel to it, with DayZ keeping it's "Sim" feel to combat and such, where WarZ has a less of a sim approach to it. Though if I had to pick one game it would be DayZ, mostly for the fact that I prefer the minecraft model approach they say they will be following as opposed to WarZ's f2p model.
Anyway I'll follow this game with interest and maybe jump in on the beta if it gets good impressions.
WarZ isn't f2p. https://account.thewarz.com/preorder/preorder.html

It isOops, my mistake, I could of sworn it was.
Anyone else see that pvp video? Can't help but shake the 'staged' vibe from it. Two of the four buddies get shot, the other two act like nothing is going on? Firing a loud ass gun, even saying it's loud, and no one hears it except what... two zombies!?
Wrong
It is

Is the game free to play or is there a subscription model?
Neither. The game will be available at launch as a single-purchase download with no payments required to play after that. No subscriptions or hidden fees. You'll be able to spend money in the game for items of convenience or to rent game servers.
He says it isn't free to play right in your quote.

I haven't played DayZ ( don't have ARMA2 so I'm waiting for standalone) but this looks decent to me. I'm most likely going to try out both but this game seems to be getting some flak for the asset reusing (I don't mind this) and the fact that they switched the game to match DayZ earlier this year (which could be problematic). What I want is an unforgiving zombie survival game. I want anything good to be rare and I want it to be difficult. That is why I liked Dark Souls and I'm interested in DayZ.
Even the name "WarZ" rubs me the COMPLETELY wrong way.
And it wasn't even pvp, it was "You can be as big a dick in War Z as you were in Day Z!"
But yeah, if it hadn't been staged, those other people wouldn't have gotten caught out like that.
It gets tiring reading that "DayZ is a buggy mess!". It's an alpha. Again, it's an alpha.
In other words no monthly fees like some MMOs have
I think part of the problem is right there: you haven't played DayZ. You don't know what they are ripping off and how, since you want the things DayZ delivered. I also see that maybe my transmorphers/transformers analogy went right through your head. Let's try again. Please take a look at this:
Which one is conveniently released very close to the other's release date? Which one is conveniently trying to mimic the other's advertising, even with a similar name? Which one is a ripoff?
I wasn't asking for clarification on your analogy I was asking what have you read/seen that you don't like about The War Z.
I thought f2p meant FREE TO PLAY, like "you don't have to pay a thing to be able to play it" free, not like "you have to pay full price once so you can download it" free.
Are there still people out there who believe that WarZ (in it's current iteration) was in development before DayZ hit it big?
I went ahead and Preordered this game last night. It sounds amazing. I'll probably also pick up dayz when it comes out too, but i think this game has a little more promise.
