Don't know what world you're living in.

The majority of women get riled up about five seconds into a porno cause they looked at some pictures of Jessica Simpson and wanted to shoot one off? Doubt it. Some do, sure. Some don't, sure. But (ANCEDOTAL INFORMATION INCOMING) almost every girl I've talked to said that what helps them get stimulated are: 1) non-sexual attention (a good date with no emphasis on sex; walk in the park; etc) and 2) their guy actually not acting like a complete chowder head. I asked my wife about female arousal years ago and she said it was something akin to a warm bath. When she's really, really relaxed, she can be aroused, but if the slightest bit of stress crosses her path, it's likely that won't happen. Her and previous girlfriends and female friends have also told me that pure physical stimulation is more of a turn off without the other elements in place than a way to get turned on.

OK, potentially dangerous post, but I've been lurking here long enough, so here goes...

as someone with a bit more than passing experience with these sorts of things (that is, the psyches of so-called 'alternative lifestyles') there is actually a strong basis for Van Owen's observation.

First, of course there are women who want to get some wiener inside them* and there are some women who are the PG butter-melting types. However, it is the latter that gets far more exposure through media, advertisements, literature, and art, and has become a strong identifier for the gender as a whole.

Now, in the case of TGs, when they initially seek answers to what the opposite gender is all about (after feeling wrong in their own) the first things they encounter are sugar, spice, and everything nice. It is these identifiers that become relate-able, and give definition to what could otherwise be a potentially subtle difference between the sexes. In this case, in simplest terms, the concept of Passion over Lust becomes an anchor.
I'm really not saying any of this is intentional, or that it even exists as primary focii, but these gender definers surround us constantly and, as such, can shape the development of any woman, whether or not they were born XX.

This means that what Jamie and Lexi feel is easily genuine. It is also very easy to understand why, when confronted with a different physical experience (their New Sexual Body™ - now with less testosterone and fortified with estrogen!) their psyches relate it to the PG butter-melt thing. Again, this is not a conscious thing, or even something that one can really be that aware of. It's more of a tracing of why different people can explain things nearly identically...like grey aliens...or alligator gars...there's a parallel there, I swear! :)....

I hope this made some sense...and didn't come of as presumptuous.

Well, then I'm glad I've experienced women that are actually horny and need that itch to be scratched rather than ones that want non-sexual attention and a warm bath. :lol

You're aware that the majority of women masturbate, aren't you? They aren't doing it out of emotional stimulation either.

Really? The "majority"? Where'd you get that? Last time I checked, "most" women haven't had an orgasm before, and this includes masturbation.
The only numbers I've seen is that a great number of women don't experience the orgasm until they are in their 30s. The following is the masturbation numbers, and even there the majority is smaller than one might think:

Different studies have found that masturbation is frequent in humans. Alfred Kinsey's 1950's studies on US population have shown that 92% of men and 62% of women have masturbated during their lifespan.[16] Similar results have been found in a 2007 British national probability survey. It was found that, between individuals aged 16 to 44, 95% of men and 71% of women masturbated at some point in their lives. 73% of men and 37% of women reported masturbating in the four weeks before their interview, while 53% of men and 18% of women reported masturbating in the previous seven days.[25]

I'll try to find some statistics on how many have orgasms.

Maybe not every day, but often. There's also a week period every month where many women aren't feeling especially sexually stimulated, which probably puts a slight dent in the stats... :lol

I didn't think that was dangerous at all - I thought it was plausible and well-argued. I do think though I've been exposed to a lot of women and examples of women in my life, including in the media, who are very much about treating sex like a physical activity, and who get itches and scratch them, so I don't know whether your theory holds water. Madonna in the 90s and Samantha from Sex in the City are two obvious examples in the media, and I had a friend who was an actress in uni who's group of friends all talked VERY openly, and most of the girls in that group admitted to doing stuff by themselves. Anyway it doesn't need to be *explained* why I feel this way myself, and it's not necessarily because I'm trans. It's enough to say that people are different. I think I have *A* feminine way of relating to sex, not *THE* feminine way. It's not surprising to me that some guys have encountered similar girls to me. I have known a few myself.

Changing your voice so it sounds female seems pretty tough. I've been told the way you do it is by lowering your face so that your throat isn't as big, creating a high-pitched or softer voice. Even if you guys try to speak like you did when you were male, the voice wouldn't be the same, which is pretty fascinating.

I've never heard of this method before - what if you're at McDonalds and are giving your order while reading off the menu board above the cashier? :lol

Key word: Reported. Most women don't even want to admit that they fart, much less admit to having masturbated. Personally, I think denying either makes you a liar and a little bit pathetic. There is nothing wrong or embarrassing about just being human.

If you're really interested in this stuff a lot of transwomen have made YouTube videos about it. It would take a novel to describe what I did.

He didn't say that. He said most, and I agree with him. Society creates this big stigma about females masturbating and I fully understand why a woman would deny it. Women (and men) also lie about the number of sexual partners they've had for the same reason.

I recognize some genuinely don't masturbate just as some men don't.

Hey Jamie,

Just read your story about transitioning while working. Im curious, did you do this all alone? Who else supported you in your personal life? How did your friends react?

I would talk to my parents every second day over the phone, and I had a best friend and my ex-partner's parents and his brother's family to lean on if I needed someone local, but honestly during that first month I didn't want to see anyone. I maintained a vlog and a blog (both gone now) to help me process things.

Missed part of the question: all my friends were supportive. One of them grilled me about whether it was the right thing for me before deciding that I should have done this years ago, one of them showed me how to put on basic makeup, one of them asked me if he could be the first one to feel me up :lol (turned out he was but only because he put me in a difficult position in NSMB Wii by jumping into a bubble during a tricky bit and then he went the grope while I was distracted). I only lost one friend due to my transition - my ex-partner. He just couldn't deal with seeing me become someone he didn't recognize.

I have yet to contact all my old school friends etc who I used to have on Facebook, reactions might be a bit more varied there. I'm waiting until after cosmetic surgery to do that.

I still need someone to teach me some things about hair, I'm awful with it.

Bit of an update, had dinner tonight with the extended family and it was like a total non-issue which I've decided I'm happy about, I was treated just like my sister was.

I'm staying the night at my mom's place, I'm planning to move in here in a few weeks and it's really nice getting close to my sister. (We're pictured below... obviously)

No, most women who say they have never masturbated are liars. Not everyone still masturbates, of course. Some people are in relationships of which they are completely satisfied.

Bam, mad cuties in this picture.

So, I have been playing with the idea of me as a girl. >_> It definitely has a certain appeal to me, and in some way it "clicks" with me on an emotional level. Emotionally, I'm supportive of the idea of me possibly transitioning into a woman, though on a logical level I'm naturally hesitant. I have been looking in the mirror a lot lately and trying to picture myself as a girl and even playing with my voice. :3

Some information about myself. I'm currently a straight, 19 year-old male, and a freshman in college. I'm most definitely not the most masculine of guys, and I've always been on the more emotional side. I think emotionally I identify more with females than males.
That might explain why I enjoyed the Twilight series so damn much. :\
I've never been the most comfortable with myself. I have issues with self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and social interaction. I'm not so fond of having a penis, to be honest. I resent my, I guess testosterone driven, sexual urges very much so. That has definitely been a source of internal conflict for me. Jamie's post the other day was very appealing to me. ^_^ I also love having long hair.

I just hope this isn't just some escape from life for me at the moment. I'm at a very confusing point of my life. College isn't going the way I hoped, and I'm having some other issues of the existential variety. I looked up Gender Identity Disorder, and I'm uncertain if I would meet all the criteria. I'm currently seeing a psychiatrist at my university, though I haven't mentioned this since it is a recent development.

So, yeah. I definitely look forward to possibly being a part of this lovely thread. ^_^

Thank you! I got an italicized 'very'. That's new. :)

I haven't really strayed outside of my natural mousy brown and the ashy blonde it is now. I would like to go blonder, like my sister's shade but I've never considered auburn, I'm not sure it would work.

So, my friend and his (new) girlfriend came over tonight. We got a little drunk, we talked about various things. Since I've been thinking A LOT about this thread and the subject it presents, I asked him how he would've reacted if he had found out that the girl (which he gets along with extremely well) used to be a man. The answer from both of them was very quick, I would even say automatic. I probably don't have to tell you what it was. I know that it mostly comes from misunderstanding of transgender people, hell, it may be not far away from how I felt before reading this thread. Still, it makes me sad about the way things are. I can't believe how ignorant I used to be, and while I'm happy to see how GAF and this thread made me a better person, I suddenly want people around me to fully accept transgender people. Yet, I think it cannot be forced onto them - they have to come to this by themselves. But, it's not a subject we have EVER talked about before and I don't know how I could help to come to the right conclusion. I feel so powerless.

/End of rant. Time to sober up.

More like: "the girl I had such a great connection to doesn't exist and I don't want to have anything to do with her/him, because it's a guy and I like ladies.". It's not even the reaction itself that made me sad, but how immediate it was. Not even a second of consideration.
