is the difference of 900 and 1080p extremely noticeable? Like 720 to 1080? 900p is only missing 180 p to be 1080p
It doesn't quite work like that...
1600 x 900 = 1,440,000 pixels
1920 x 1080 = 2,073,000 pixels
That's a gulf of 633,000 pixels.

Why does anyone care it was 800p prepatch? it isnt when you actually play it
I want to know what the framerate is like if they improve it on ps4 but increased rez on xb1...

you realize PS4 had day one Res patches?
This shows that the dev may not be fully familiar with X1 tools. On the same hand I can see how this may be embarrassing but 900p is fine with me if the gameplay is great and the game still looks good.
This excuse is getting old. Do you think developers have any more experience with PS4 tools?you realize PS4 had day one Res patches?

To be fair devs have more experience with Xbone's API than PS4's API... most devs already works with DirectX.This excuse is getting old. Do you think developers have any more experience with PS4 tools?
Is that the only game to go below since launch?
Also it was "60fps"

Well that is my opinion using common sense but I can be wrong
I thought PS4 tools were pretty great while some devs thought the XO tools were....fucked? Or at least I remember forum blowback a while ago when a dev said that. "How can MS have worse tools? They were always so good in that department!" and all that jazz.
I seem to recall it's a combination of this and the fact that PS4 is easier to work with even if you're not too acquainted with the APIs and whatnot simply because the hardware is nice and quick, so it's easy to get performance out of.

ahh so the difference would be quite apparent. over half a million pixels. Why wouldn't microsoft care about hitting 1080p? Forza does it and Forza looks awesome, in that respect shouldn't trials be able to hit that?
My crazy thought is that maybe they can hit 1080p with some games but they want the game to release along side the ps4 version and further optimising with the esram would take more time but they are confident with 900p. I don't know just trying to make sense out of this confusion

Stuff like this and the couple resolution patches are why I wish the PS4 could download and install patches before booting the game up the first time. I hate starting a game just to immediately quit to make sure I get the patch up first.
I think it's weird that devs can't/aren't just grouping the file on the store as the patched version already. I mean, it's already digital.
Day 1 patches are a good thing. They let devs use the time after they go gold to improve the game before people play it.Why can't people just finish the games before they release them...
Then we won't need day one patches anymore.
How is it that Wolfenstein can run at 1080p60fps on Xbox, but super physics Excitebike can't? What is going on? Save us DX12!!

Devs alot of time patch in requested features and such its a good thing. You mean 'finish' the game, not 'improve' it.
900p seems so close to 1080p to me.. So strange. I am bothered to ask whyy
actually the building still looks like that .. both images are correct .. its just the lod you are showing .. which can be pretty jarring when turning corners or objects that appear from behind other objects.
if you look closely at the third building down in your "before" pic you see its similar to the others. it just hasn't lod in yet.
now did they up the lod distance to be closer in the final game? maybe.
People blame eSRAM because it was not enough to make up for the deficiencies...Forza has practically no anti-aliasing and a static pre-baked lighting system. It would not be running at 1080p if it had an actual dynamic lighting system and AA (like Trials does).
The ESRAM is not the issue here. It's the GPU with HALF the number of ROPs (raster units) as what AMD themselves recommend for 1080p gaming. It's the slow DDR3 memory that the ESRAM tries to make up for. It's the overall much weaker GPU that simply can't match what's in the PS4 no matter what optimizations devs make. Those same optimizations for the most part can be applied to the PS4 versions of games.
Please people. Stop blaming the ESRAM for these issues. The ESRAM is simply there to make up for the deficiencies in the rest of the system. Without the ESRAM the system would be MUCH more bandwidth starved. We could have much better discussions if people would actually educate themselves about the hardware.
And for the love of fuck if I see one more "Save us DX12!" post.... Ugh. It simply astounds me how people take what MS says at face value considering their recent history with technical discussion. A god damn API is not going to double the performance of the system. Devs in fact will be more inclined to code to the metal as the generation progresses which provides much better performance than when coding with an API.

I just watched the video, doesn't look like detail loads in.

Couldn't they use SMAA to also allow 1080p as well? They are having trouble to deal with 1080p because 32MB is little for a 1080p game with good AA processing... Forza dropped the AA for a 1080p framebuffer and added a lot of motion blur to try to hide these drops.
For example... if the eSRAM had 45MB or even 64MB then you won't see the resolution difference between the games.
Devs alot of time patch in requested features and such its a good thing.
I don't think so because Ryse couldn't get 1080p with SMAA 1TX.Couldn't they use SMAA to also allow 1080p as well?
Yeah, but those don't usually happen on day 1. The day 1 patches are mostly about "lets get this game to the resolution and framerate that it was supposed to be on originally." I can understand it for retail games, but digital-only games? Just don't release it til you're done.
I was wondering how long it would take before people stopped piling on the Xbox One and noticed it mentioned PS4 as well.

I'm guessing it wasn't quite 60fps. Wouldn't be the first game with a "locked 60fps" that didn't actually hit it.In that original post it says the patch improves the frame rate of the PS4 version, but if it is locked 60fps, what does this mean? Is it not locked on PS4?
All I see is downgraded spectators and a different time of day.
This is going to be a long generation of Xbone resolution issues.......
Look at the building geometry and the trees/foliage Major.
Maybe, maybe not. But it hasn't been out for a year yet.
Oh man that is really, really close.I don't think so because Ryse couldn't get 1080p with SMAA 1TX.
Edit - If I'm not wrong the render buffer was 24MB for 900p + SMAA 1TX in Ryse.
