Then we keep at it and if they don't, they're gone next year. Hell, this would be a good rallying cry. You aren't doing anything about the Nazis? Your ass is out.

Hell Cruz' seat is up for re-election this year. Would be a shame if he lost it...

He's not actually going to do anything about it, which is why he's going to keep his seat.

While a competent and good statement. Let's not forget him stanning for Trump in the election. GOP is complicit. All leaders, politicians, voters, and supporters.

Ted Cruz with a respectable statement:

Senator Ted Cruz @SenTedCruz

I urge the Department of Justice to immediately investigate and prosecute this grotesque act of domestic terrorism.

DHEplh-XoAEfYar

Can you imagine the President of the United States releasing such a poignant statement?

The Establishment is seeing the blood in the water here. The public is using the "T" word en masse. Any GOPer that still has a shred of sanity left in them can't risk going soft on this being on their record coming into 2018.

TBH, despite Cruz being an untrustworthy scumbag, I'm more than happy to have him as an ally against Nazism. We need to engage in some bipartisan stomping out of this scourge.

As if it wasn't blatantly obvious before today, he is not our President. He is theirs. They are the people that got him elected. Those are the only people that think he is doing a great job. Those are the only people that will vote for him in 2020.

It's unreal to me that even the most spineless slugs, who have made careers sucking at the bottom of the GOP's proverbial barrel, are actually able to give our fucking president a run for his money when it comes to condemning racism.

I don't trust the GOP, at all, but it is something they are putting out clear language on this.

I didn't expect it, but it's welcome.

He and his buddies in the GOP happily rode that white supremacy wave into control of the government in November.

If you think they actually care about stomping it out you're sadly mistaken.

What you're seeing is what happens when dog whistles become audible to the human ear... GOPers can't hide when everyone hears it.

Trump is too stupid to hear it.

This is not morality on display it's survival instinct.

republicans crassly putting distance between themselves and this trash when it suits them.

they've been courting these shits for years. this is what your rhetoric produces you fucking piles of human garbage.

Wow, when even Ted Cruz comes out strong over this, you know Trump messed up.

He didn't 'mess up' he knows exactly what he is doing. We need to get rid of this narrative that Trump is just someone who makes accidents. He is and always has been a white supremacist. If his treatment of black tenants in properties he owned didn't send red flags your way, or the fact that he has read through Hitler's autobiography and keeps a copy of it, or the fact that he refused to disavow any connection to David fucking Duke of the KKK, or his appointment of Steve Banon to his cabinet, then THIS should be what does it for you. The man is, has always been, and always will be a white supremacist.

We need to call him what he is, call out his administration, and really be honest with ourselves. He's not some misguided idiot, he genuinely holds dangerous beliefs and should be nowhere near the presidency of the united states.

The Republicans realize they can never openly side with Neo-Nazis and the KKK. It's like using the n-word, it crosses that line that makes you undeniably racist to your average middle class white. They can support extremely racist policies, use racist dog whistles, but they can only give the occasional wink to White Supremacists groups, with the understanding that sometimes, they are going to have to condemn them.

Trump on the other hand is a buffoon, that has no idea how badly refusing to condemn white supremacists looks. The rest of the GOP knows they rely on their support and they also know it's something that hurts them if they don't get out in front of it when they are in the news. Of course they also know there is no danger in condemning them, the nazi scumbags know the game.

Yes, and he is in good company with Bannon and Miller.

Which is super suspect

what do they gain from this? or is this just a fuck trump deal?

This is one of the things they can shit on Trump with and not get heat from the majority of their base. Crazies will be crazy, but when the President that's on your side is fucking everything up for your side, and he refuses to condemn Nazis, that's your fucking chance to pounce.

Of course the GOP is calling him on this writ large. This is about as safe a call as you can make.

The problem is that while their empowered by the GOP, it's Trump and his refusal to condemn them specifically that makes them feel so empowered to do this shit.

Yep. I'm giving no credit to them whatsoever.

They are doing it because they fear they'll be voted out or worse. It's super convenient.

Is it tho? Trump ran on this shit and this isn't trump first run in with the KKK

These Republicans are doing this to fuck Trump. They know that by sounding less mealy-mouthed they can make him look bad. Don't give them any credit unless some decent legislation comes out of it.

Nothing will happen to Trump because of this. Just like when he refused to denounce David Duke. Media might make a stink about it a day or two and then Trump will still be Trump and all gop will be behind him still. They could impeach the guy tomorrow if they wanted.

GOP denouncing is just for those closet racist to feel not racist today. They'll be yelling All Kive Matters and Blue Lives Matter the next time a black guy dies from the cops.

It's exactly this. They don't give any more of a shit than he does, they're just smart enough to join hands and shout down the most obvious examples of white supremacy and Naziism than he is.

All these condemning Republican statements don't mean shit until they impeach Trump. Fuck off.
Trump won the presidency dude. Tens of millions of people still support that fuck openly. God knows how many more support him from the shadows (like many stupid assholes who voted for him).

Impeaching him is not going to fix some of the problems we have.

I am not sure what the answer is or how we can move forwards again and back to sanity. I doubt it will easy or clean though.

This mother fucker might start World War 3. Impeaching him and Pence and anyone else involved with Russia might stop some bleeding.

True.

But on the other hand Pence (or even the next dude up) will actually be able to pass a ton of shit for the next 15 months.

We fucked either way. :(

Good on the GOP for having the balls to call out exactly what this is, but let's not kid ourselves here. They would rather this all be dressed up under a veneer of respectability. They don't want the covers to be suddenly cast off and for the monster they have been containing, unwittingly or not, to see the light of day like this. So with this monster uncaged all they can do now is try and save their own hides instead of a principled call to arms to actually do something.

But still, good on the members of the GOP who have had the balls to say it as it really is. Trump's so fucking stupid that I hope he just drops dead in the Oval Office whilst shitting himself.

Most of these racist fucks were conspiracy nuts who didn't trust the government regardless of party, they only came out for Trump because of his rhetoric. The GOP is only making sure they don't get caught up with blatant racists (they like their's to be opaque).
