Much has been said about the gift given to Trump by current Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau: A photo of Trump and Justin's father, former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau. What hasn't been discussed as much is where that photo came from and what Trudeau Sr. said. On Nov. 5th, 1981, when Pierre was given the gold medallion by the Society of the Family of Man, he delivered a speech that warned against anti-globalization, isolationist policies:

With all our assets, the siren song of isolationism — the belief that we were better off without the rest of the world — was a recurring melody on this continent, and a belief that nostalgia for its simple tune persists today
