Or damage control. :XMate, the hype around what this console has in it is real.
Just revealing the specs through DF shows a pleathora of confidence about it.
Probably no pricing either, right?
Just specs and maybe a tech demo?
At the same time though, as with any product exclusive review / preview etc, I expect a natural bias. So I'm always wary of how positive things can be / lack of criticism etc. On the other hand, its a show of confidence to get DF involved for a tech analysis, and seemingly the exact audience to put it in front of, who are concerned with console tech specs / perf between systems
Why Digital Foundry? That's kind of weird.
Hope no-one spoils it between now and the reveal, let's be fair to DF.
I was going to be like, why your glass so half-empty, but now you've filled me with doubt. That's how I feel too, but there is this little part of me that says they are using DF to show real results since maybe the hard specs won't convince people what the hardware can do.
Receipts please
Yeah, I think it's pretty clear that Sony dropped the ball when revealing the PS4 Pro. It just didn't work out - especially if you were at home streaming.
Is this a paid announcement?
Or are we gonna get impartial opinions from DF?
You're trying to hard. As usual towards anything Xbox related. So how can we expect digital foundry to stay unbiased once the Microsoft money starts rolling in?
Things change, maybe not on release but next year? Yeah things could change. No the fact that Spencer repeatedly mentioned that this was still going to be an Xbox One, playing Xbox One games. 'No man left behind!' Any of that ring a bell?
Try harder next timeSo how can we expect digital foundry to stay unbiased once the Microsoft money starts rolling in?
Yeah, I reckon they'll have their own event before E3 to unveil the box itself and announce a price.

So does anyone else take that post to mean that maybe XO games will see more of a boost than people might think?
Why Digital Foundry? That's kind of weird.

Microsoft wants a thorough review of the specs to show how powerful a console it is. Perhaps they'll have their own "8GB GDDR5" bombshell?
Things change, maybe not on release but next year? Yeah things could change.
Well, for one, it's been pretty much all you see Montresor posting about in any Scorpio threads I've looked at since I've been here.
Lol, this is of course an exclusive deal so it will be "positive" of course, but doubt beyond that.So how can we expect digital foundry to stay unbiased once the Microsoft money starts rolling in?
Really?
It seems like this case is MS giving DF the console to run tests/benchnarks or whatever to give people a good tech preview. It's no different from when a company gives media a review copy or review hardware.
Well considering the hate the X1 recieved due to it's specs, then mixing in that they're only revealing this through DF, you know it's quite something. It's a game console, why would they not be confident? Ya'll are treating this like a game review for some reason.
They are the go-to people for console games analysis, especially game enthusiast which this product is geared towards. Why Digital Foundry? That's kind of weird.
Not really. If DF say that it does good stuff then that speaks directly to consumers and the social media message that comes out of DF is easy to relate to.
GAF can go round and round talking about memory bandwidth and I get lost so I don't know what a pure spec reveal would do.
Because they are great at technical analysis.
I was going to be like, why your glass so half-empty, but now you've filled me with doubt.
Why derail me bro.
It's not gonna be light on specs. They specifically worked with DF on this for a reason and Phil has openly said E3 will be about software not the hardware of Scorpio.
I think they will save the price for E3 but I expect we will know a substantial amount about the hardware on Thursday
