Love the art deco thing, the cape isn't really working too well with the silhouette, though.

Maybe i should do a subtle highlight of his legs so it doesnt look like he's in a dress or popping out of a mountain lol.

Cape should definitely be more "angular"

Hmmm

Astroturfers are a race of alien parasites sent to our planet by the Corporation to pave the way for their upcoming invasion. They hide inside the bodies of human hosts, and use them to spread propaganda and console war with the ultimate purpose of getting humans to trust the Corporation. Astroturfers are extremely vulnerable to the vibrations produced by the Banhammer, but once they fuse with a human body there's no way to vanquish them without killing the host as well.

Holy cow at how many great ideas have come out of this thread. We should start narrowing down the ideas for a first issue and decide on the number of pages. As a start, we should start distilling the most important themes, and the first villain GAFman faces.

Shouldn't Astroturfers have like, Beyblades or something?

Gafman, Master Race, and Bell Eve/Sharp Knees/some woman for the sake of having a woman. You can also see an outline for Neo Gaf City which will just be a black silhouette.

It's a work in progress, so feel free to unload some constructive criticisms, but before you attack Gafman's face, which I did take liberties on, I want to stress that I redrew his face about 20 times. Without a mouth, his face lacks character, so I added one over the mask, and I couldn't get it to look right. So I thought "fuck it" and I just gave him a Batman/Wolverine type cowl.

well i don't know if we're able to use the name anyway.

somebody from pony-gaf came in and said "OT Gaf, get your own name" so... at the moment, there's no pony representation in any of this.

If there's Steam coming out from somewhere while he's doing that, it should be just the right amount of awesome.

He could have a steam powered super expensive robot that needs upgrading/is upgraded every time he and GAFman meet?

Sounds good to me. Honestly MasterRace has way too much potential. He completely eclipses the other villains and even GAFman.

Even a PC Gamer with the strongest rig can't prevent himself from being banned from a website (unless they successfully ban evade, which is a different story all together.)

Maybe how Gafman outsmarts Master Race in the comic is he gets him with a technicality, which unlocks Gafman's greatest weapon: The Ban Hammer.

Like, Master Race has something up on a screen showing a defeated Gafman his plan (or something like that), but he accidentally hosts it with imageshack.us, and thus the sight of the golden frog gives Gafman the power he needs to ban Master Race. Obviously, there is a more creative way to do this, but that would be funny and typical of a comic hero facing his rival.

OH OH OH

Gafman should have an issue called "Gafman and the mysterious Alt-Account" Like, a new mysterious villain is shitting up NeoGAF, and GAFman must discover which one of his banned enemies is the real identity.

I think it's fitting and humorous (then again everybody thinks my sense of humor is bad).

That and it's undeniable that there are a bunch of pony avatars (or there used to be), so it's a part of history.

Because we've been moved to Community during the off-season time.

We're preparing for the Glorious Return to OT when Season 2 rolls around.

Shouldn't the junior's one power be to multiply himself?
Junior's real power is forgetting the rules (of the universe) and somehow avoiding a ban. How else would a propeller beanie hold his weight? He's on thin ice ignoring those physical laws.

So's there no way to get Junior to "work" for GAF? Or is he destined to languish in back of the issue letter sections?

Here he is without the various attachments:

edit: I'll go through and make most of the other pictures I posted hyperlinks if they're taking up too much room.

Oh, okay. So the thread is still active after all.

So, is this comic going to be actually made by someone? Who is working on it?

Yes i know i cant draw. I invisioned GayGafman to be a Anti Gafman in a sense he's a rugged guy a big burly build but when not powered he is a skinny twinky guy. Maybe someone can take this general design and so..something with it?

Nice work!

But on the bolded; I want GAFman to have a full mask since he is the physical embodiment of the forums and shouldn't be represented by a race. Also, Deadpool displays plenty of character and he has a full mask.

Perhaps the shadows on the mask could define his mouth without actually drawing it, like in MYE's drawing earlier in the thread:

One question I have, that all great comic book heroes deal with, is what is his relationship like with the regular populace, the police force, and government/military of this city/world?

Oh man... Dr. M, devoted to shutting down Master Race at all costs- just as myopic and stubborn, but his lunacy comes from a completely different angle. He sets up twisted, constrictive psychological experiments that prey on Master Race's prejudices, preconceptions, and loopholes in his philosophy... making him feel so powerless as to finally, time and time again, call on GAFMan as a last resort to help him out of the bind. As soon as he's free he goes back to resenting GAFMan and his sympathy for the common peasant.

Dr. M is a shadowy figure that Master Race turned to in his failed attempt to combat what is only known as The Torrent:

Foik1.jpg

A seemingly endless horde of small, blind, uncaring creatures - little more than mouths and grasping little hands - that seek nothing more than to consume and 'seed'. They have always existed and didn't care who they victimized, but Master Race found himself more vulnerable than most to their predations, and felt the need to strike back.

In a moment of weakness, Master Race turned to Dr. M, who offered a 'final solution' to the Torrent. After some initial successes, Master Race began to realize that Dr. M's 'solution' was worse than the problem and ultimately useless in combating the implacable Torrent.

Currently Master Race isn't sure which is the greater threat to his existence, but both are surely his foes.

Since the beginning, there have been watchers. A group of mythical men and women sworn to protect and maintain order. These powerful beings are known only as "The Moderators". These "Mods" (I like how this rhymes with "gods"), hold great powers. And each holds sway over their own lands in the world. One protects the land of Cinema. One protects the land of Automobiles. One even protects the chaotic and debaucherous land of Pornography. And of course, one protects the land of Gaming. The Mod of Gaming is known only as "Bish". His full name is shrouded in mystery.

But the powers of the Mods have begun to weaken. More netizens enter the world every day, and it has become tiresome and difficult for the Mods to address every problem that arises. As such, many Mods have begun to endow many mortal netizens with grand powers of their own, so that they may assist the Mods in maintaining order.

Bish resisted the idea of creating heroes initially. But the land of Gaming was beginning to fall apart. The Cataclysm of 1983 had severely drained Bish of his powers, and he was struggling to maintain order during the Great Nintendo-Sega War. He needed heroes of his own. And so he scouted the land of Gaming in order to find heroes.

His search brought him to the land of GAF. There, he found the young teens [GAFman's real name here] and Phillip Constantine Race. The two were great friends. And both were exceptionally good at gaming. The young GAFman enjoyed playing all sorts of games, but his friend P.C. always turned up his nose at any the console games that the adolescent GAFman played.

Bish saw great potential in the young GAFman. And for good reason. GAFman held records in many games, and he was the first player in the world to break 999,999,950 in Super Mario Brothers. But he was concerned about P.C. For P.C. was often arrogant and divisive. He often fought with the young GAFman about the superiority of computer gaming. Bish saw the threat of corruption in his eyes.

And then the day came where Bish decided to make the teenage GAFman one of his heroes. And when GAfman slept, Bish communicated to him through a dream.

"Son, I come to you because I have chosen you to be a great hero. You must find The Controller. It is a hammer of enormous power. I have given you the IP address. Go now, and go alone."

When GAFman awoke, he was bewildered. But he remembered every word and image of the dream perfectly. And somehow, he knew the exact IP address of where The Controller could be found. Confused and perplexed, he nonetheless found the courage to follow the strange vision.

But he was not alone. P.C. saw his friend leave his home and found his behavior suspicious. And so he followed him.

GAFman found the underground cave where The Controller was held. And he still did not realize that his friend P.C. was not far behind, following him. He saw the hammer, glistening and shining with great light on a raised pedestal. Both GAFman and P.C. instantly knew that the hammer contained great power. GAFman knew that weilding the great hammer meant he would carry the responsibility of protecting the city of GAF. He slowly approached the mighty hammer.

And then P.C. made his move. He wanted that power for himself. He bolted towards GAFman and The Controller. GAFman, surprised at P.C.'s sudden appearance, immediately grabbed the hammer, and a great explosion of light and energy followed.

When the dust cleared, GAFman felt the energy coursing through him. He felt the hammer's power and his newfound strength. His body glowed, until he was able to contain the energy. And then he looked over at P.C., who was lying on the ground. There, he saw P.C. was also glowing. It seemed he too obtained the power of a hero.

P.C. stood up. And he laughed.

"My MOD! Friend, do you see what has happened to us!? This feeling! This strength!"

Of course he saw. But unlike P.C., he had also seen the vision of Bish in his dream, and knew exactly what this power meant.

"I see, P.C. But this power is not a toy. We must use our new strength to protect GAF. The city is always under attack from different threats. These powers give us the ability to finally do something about it. To protect our homes and our families. To let us do something without relying on the Mods."

"No. This goes beyond GAF! With this power, I can finally spread the word of the greatness of computer gaming! I will create an empire! A paradise! Join me! We will create this new paradise together!"

"You're insane! You've let your love of computer gaming blind you yet again!"

"It seems you will never change. You've still yet to truly grasp the power of computer gaming. Fine. Protect your pitiful fiefdom. But you will be left behind when my paradise is complete."

P.C. began to walk away, but turned his head back to leave one last message.

"And know this. My old name is ill-fitting to my greatness. I am no longer Phillip Constantine Race. You shall address me as MASTER Race now!"

And Master Race walked away, chuckling to himself.

And GAFman knew that from that time forward, that not only would he have to protect his beloved hometown, but he would have to stop his friend. To prevent his "paradise" from happening.

Can he do it?

Believe.

Thought GAFman could use some SDF:

The Sony Defense Force is a private military company led by former WW2 German officer Kaiser Hans, and it's one of the three main factions trying to bring console war into Neo GAF.

Kaiser Hans can rely on an endless supply of clones, in which his consciousness and memories are automatically injected every time he's killed in action. With every transmigration, he gains a new identity (notable ones include General Snah and Private Hoffman) and being able to change his body so often allows him to stay perpetually young. His current identity is unknown, but GAFman knows it's only a matter of time before Hans shows up again.

I think we also need to come up with a graphic representation of the Universe/planes,etc

For instance, this is from D&D
