Thought GAFman could use some SDF:

The Sony Defense Force is a private military company led by former WW2 German officer Kaiser Hans, and it's one of the three main factions trying to bring console war into Neo GAF.

Kaiser Hans can rely on an endless supply of clones, in which his consciousness and memories are automatically injected every time he's killed in action. With every transmigration, he gains a new identity (notable ones include General Snah and Private Hoffman) and being able to change his body so often allows him to stay perpetually young. His current identity is unknown, but GAFman knows it's only a matter of time before Hans shows up again.

The Xbox Defense Force needs, I mean NEEDS to all be wearing grey blazers with green hoodies underneath. Either that or they are all just ghostly silhouettes that are black and green with undulating points of light and spikes coming out of them, like the IR video feed from the Kinect camera.

Maybe the two forces can be engaged in a brutal ongoing gang-war over the Xbots' attempts to seize control of the SDF's ultimate weapon, the 'Solid Metal Patriot Gun V4.0.'

What about Kenser Hans?

The Xbots are timetravelling cyborgs coming from the future, to prevent their faction from losing the Great Console War (that's about to start). The older models are prone to overheating, but the newer ones solved the problem and got slimmer as well.

The origin story should involve the First Troll - Futami, in some fashion.

Wow... I haven't heard that name uttered since the GAF days of old. I thought he had passed out of all knowledge among today's GAFers.

He was basically the serpent in the Garden of Eden, which all trolling evil originated from.

I still think GAFman and Master Race should be brothers.

GAFman's name could be Dick Race.

Having the two be friends and not brothers was only because I didn't want GAFman to also have the same last name as Master Race.

If GAFman's last name becomes defined by his relationship to Master Race, I think that gives too much focus to Master Race and not to GAFman himself. GAFman is the real star here, so his name shouldn't be defined by his relationship to the main villain.

But at the same time, I agree that the two being brothers would be more compelling than them being friends. It's a hard choice for sure.

they where both created by the higher ups. They are Brothers but do not share a name.

Hrm. That's something that could be considered. Brothers not in the literal sense, but in sort of a symbolic sense.

Did you read the origin story I wrote up? I kind of like the idea that they were ordinary netizens that were given power by Bish, and that Master Race was corruptible somehow. That either his power was unintentional or a mistake of some kind.

yeah thats what i mean not the literal sense. it can still work into your story. When they where reborn/given their powers they became "brothers"

a good way to think about it is like charles xavier and magneto. Not real brothers but they have a close bond.

A few pages back, someone mentioned that Gafman should have a Commissioner Gordon type ally. I was thinking that ally could be Moderator Sharp Knees. I think her being female and an ally could create some fun sexual tension. Moderators are the police force of Neo Gaf. They also have special unit moderator forces like the Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft Defense Forces.

I started writing a script for a concept comic that follows this idea. Nothing official (afterall, what is official at this point), but it will allow us to see how things may work in Gafman's world.

Also, do you think that trolls should be actual trolls or ninja-like? I was thinking about stealth trolls, and that made me think of ninja. I wonder which one would be more fun to see Gafman fight...

And one more thing, this is random, but I was watching the Super Mario Bros. movie. And while I know it is hated, I'd imagine that Neogaf would function like the Mushroom Kingdom does in that movie; dark, but over-the-top with all kinds of mutant-like people.

Is there going to be any reference to Zero Punctuation in Master Race's origin?
Not that it needs to, just asking.

How could there be more of a reference than there already is? The flowing hair, the manly chest, and yellow skin is already pretty much ripped directly from Yahtzee's drawings. I think going any further like name dropping feels a bit forced. Maybe he could have some little imp minions but I wouldn't like going any further.

GAFman has to be terrible with the ladies. In much the same way that Francesca Friendzone is the unobtainable object of GAFman's desire, any Sharp Knees characters should work the other way around. Sharp Knees should be madly in love with GAFman, but he's totally disinterested because of her knees.

One of GAFman's chief villains could be "The Angry Bird".

Agreed. Also, Sharp Knees should be insanely hot.

Origin story time!

We've thrown out a few ideas. I've sort of come up with a way to condense all the good ones, and even incorporate Master Race into it all. Let me know what you guys think.

---

Since the beginning, there have been watchers. A group of mythical men and women sworn to protect and maintain order. These powerful beings are known only as "The Moderators". These "Mods" (I like how this rhymes with "gods"), hold great powers. And each holds sway over their own lands in the world. One protects the land of Cinema. One protects the land of Automobiles. One even protects the chaotic and debaucherous land of Pornography. And of course, one protects the land of Gaming. The Mod of Gaming is known only as "Bish". His full name is shrouded in mystery.

But the powers of the Mods have begun to weaken. More netizens enter the world every day, and it has become tiresome and difficult for the Mods to address every problem that arises. As such, many Mods have begun to endow many mortal netizens with grand powers of their own, so that they may assist the Mods in maintaining order.

Bish resisted the idea of creating heroes initially. But the land of Gaming was beginning to fall apart. The Cataclysm of 1983 had severely drained Bish of his powers, and he was struggling to maintain order during the Great Nintendo-Sega War. He needed heroes of his own. And so he scouted the land of Gaming in order to find heroes.

His search brought him to the land of GAF. There, he found the young teens [GAFman's real name here] and Phillip Constantine Race. The two were great friends. And both were exceptionally good at gaming. The young GAFman enjoyed playing all sorts of games, but his friend P.C. always turned up his nose at any the console games that the adolescent GAFman played.

Bish saw great potential in the young GAFman. And for good reason. GAFman held records in many games, and he was the first player in the world to break 999,999,950 in Super Mario Brothers. But he was concerned about P.C. For P.C. was often arrogant and divisive. He often fought with the young GAFman about the superiority of computer gaming. Bish saw the threat of corruption in his eyes.

And then the day came where Bish decided to make the teenage GAFman one of his heroes. And when GAfman slept, Bish communicated to him through a dream.

"Son, I come to you because I have chosen you to be a great hero. You must find The Controller. It is a hammer of enormous power. I have given you the IP address. Go now, and go alone."

When GAFman awoke, he was bewildered. But he remembered every word and image of the dream perfectly. And somehow, he knew the exact IP address of where The Controller could be found. Confused and perplexed, he nonetheless found the courage to follow the strange vision.

But he was not alone. P.C. saw his friend leave his home and found his behavior suspicious. And so he followed him.

GAFman found the underground cave where The Controller was held. And he still did not realize that his friend P.C. was not far behind, following him. He saw the hammer, glistening and shining with great light on a raised pedestal. Both GAFman and P.C. instantly knew that the hammer contained great power. GAFman knew that weilding the great hammer meant he would carry the responsibility of protecting the city of GAF. He slowly approached the mighty hammer.

And then P.C. made his move. He wanted that power for himself. He bolted towards GAFman and The Controller. GAFman, surprised at P.C.'s sudden appearance, immediately grabbed the hammer, and a great explosion of light and energy followed.

When the dust cleared, GAFman felt the energy coursing through him. He felt the hammer's power and his newfound strength. His body glowed, until he was able to contain the energy. And then he looked over at P.C., who was lying on the ground. There, he saw P.C. was also glowing. It seemed he too obtained the power of a hero.

P.C. stood up. And he laughed.

"My MOD! Friend, do you see what has happened to us!? This feeling! This strength!"

Of course he saw. But unlike P.C., he had also seen the vision of Bish in his dream, and knew exactly what this power meant.

"I see, P.C. But this power is not a toy. We must use our new strength to protect GAF. The city is always under attack from different threats. These powers give us the ability to finally do something about it. To protect our homes and our families. To let us do something without relying on the Mods."

"No. This goes beyond GAF! With this power, I can finally spread the word of the greatness of computer gaming! I will create an empire! A paradise! Join me! We will create this new paradise together!"

"You're insane! You've let your love of computer gaming blind you yet again!"

"It seems you will never change. You've still yet to truly grasp the power of computer gaming. Fine. Protect your pitiful fiefdom. But you will be left behind when my paradise is complete."

P.C. began to walk away, but turned his head back to leave one last message.

"And know this. My old name is ill-fitting to my greatness. I am no longer Phillip Constantine Race. You shall address me as MASTER Race now!"

And Master Race walked away, chuckling to himself.

And GAFman knew that from that time forward, that not only would he have to protect his beloved hometown, but he would have to stop his friend. To prevent his "paradise" from happening.

Can he do it?

Believe.

Holy shit, I just read that with Transformers OST in the background with Optimus Prime as the voiceover. Gave me goosebumps...

I was thinking about this story that takes place in another universe.

THE EA's "ORIGIN" ARC

The Electronic Avengers (EA) are under a new leader (Origin) and he is changing several policies in a way that now shorten the range in which the heroes can perform their world saving duties. The daily life activities of the inhabitants of this realm affect in great measure the natural state of our hero's world. The strongest repercussions have occurred in Master-Race's region (or home if he lives now in Neo Gaf as i understand from other posters). Gaf-man travels to the mercantile universe where this super heroes reside by mere tourism, but soon he will discover that an angered Master-Race is breaking havoc in order to force the avenger to expand their reach.

Who are these Avengers?

CAPTAIN SPORT
(ea sports) male/ (like cap. America)
Strategist and leader on the battlefield. He always does his duty no matter what. As a master of all sports and the ideal athlete he possesses super strength, speed and reflexes.

Origin / ELECTRONIC AVENGER
(the NEW ea games) male/ like Harry Osborn?
He likes fast cars (with QTE sections) and social gatherings. Mysterious, manipulative, super smart.

THE MARKER
(visceral games) male
And obscure individual capable of summoning and controlling supernatural forces.

BIOWARE
(Bioware) female / (like Thor)
Daughter of the previous Bioware, this redhead beauty is not someone to be taken lightly. She inherited most of her father's power (though she is still young to handle the d20 gem of power like her father did before her) and is probably the strongest of the group. However, some say her head is currently more focused on flirting with guys [and girls] than in battle.

MAXIS MAN
(maxis) male/ scientist (like ant-man)
Brilliant scientist that created a machine that allows him to change size at will. On the battlefield he becomes a giant capable of playing with cities as if these were toys.

DIGITAL ILLUSION
(DICE) male /
The master of light and shadow. With his powers DICE can manipulate reality, by controlling photons he can make you see whatever he desires. And by condensing them he can generate powerful beams of light capable of cutting through anything(*).

----
CRYO-MAN
(Crytek) male / like iron man
Not an actual member of The EA, he is more of an outsider for the group and even has a couple of contracts with the military. He does not have superpowers but technology is his tool. He build himself a powerful suit that allows him to fly and fire beams that freeze anything they touch (he froze a whole tropical island once). However, he is one of the cockiest heroes there, sometimes saying things he will not be able to deliver.

Great idea, but just an addition/slight change, I think we could base Captain Sport on Peter Moore and he could be a more complex character. Willing to help GAF-Man, but Origin dictates that he introduce EA passes etc... which he does because he is honour bound by EA Origin.

What if Peter Moore is Captain-Sport's mentor, a man who was his coach when he was just an athlete but to this day still possesses great influence over Cap. Sport, maybe too much influence. So Cap.sport is the muscle and Peter Moore is the brain. (This will mean that when Moore was not part of EA, there was another Cap. sport that is now retired).

Eeeeeerily similar to a video I made a year or two ago...

Jack Tretton should make an appearance as a slightly nervous-if-earnest prophet. Don Mattrick should show up, and when GAF-Man fights him, is revealed to be composed of just plastic and hot air.

And as for Reggie Fils-Aime... is his body ready for GAF-Man? He is nigh-indestructible, and whatever lies beneath his face/mask is... well, who knows?

I mean, that line "My body is ready." That just screams villain or determinator or heroic sacrifice or something.

Grabbed this from the E3 Gifs thread:

Something like this would be amazing. So much drama.

Can't believe I never saw this thread! I feel so late to the party, but it's been fun catching up on everything at once.

It's funny but I do keep thinking about Master Race more than The Gaf Man, but that's likely due to my own allegiance. What keeps popping up in my head is a very Flash/Zoom (Zolomon) relationship between them.

Clearly Master Race thinks everyone would be better if they convert to his way of life, and feels no remorse in destroying the filthy peasants that don't see the light - they are after all, flawed and unworthy. But GAFMan is a special case. Master Race sees the potential in GAFMan to be even better than he is, perhaps even the greatest hero of all, one who could challenge the MODS themselves. But he has weakness, strength that can only be unlocked with greater challenges.

And since he's a complete sociopath, there's no method beyond consideration.

Perhaps his relationship with Friendzone only starts in an effort to get GAF-man to finally make a move out of jealousy? He wouldn't be above mistreating her or putting her into grave peril to spark a reaction. Or maybe, in his eyes, GAFMAN just doesn't need that kind of distraction in the way.

Anyway, just throwing ideas against the wall late at night.

What I'd love to see out of this thread is at least a full (yet short) comic issue. But it looks like people have been losing interest quickly
(not that I'm surprised, sadly)
:(

I was just thinking of another scenario.

GAF-Man is battling with Master Race who brings his ally Steam to ensure GAF-Man is defeated and console peasants are purged, but halfway through the battle SDF turns to help GAF-Man. Steam realises he can't fight SDF and betrays Master Race by joining forces with SDF, lured by the huge number of peasants on their network willing to spend money on Home items.

At the end we see Master Race talking to himself, trying to convince himself that Steam hasn't left him forever. The phone rings, it's Steam, saying that he would like to change their facebook relationship status from 'in a relationship' to 'in an open relationship'. The scene ends...

There should definetely be three fractions that resemble the fanboys.

Joc already made a pretty good start with the Sony Defense Force, pretty awesome, seriously. They are mortal enemies with both the Xbots and the Nintendian Empire.
Many of their spies work undercover in the Nintendian Empire and more often than not gather vital information from them.

The Xbots, as somebody said earlier, should be robots of course. There's no other way around it.
They I somehow picture them like a mix from the Cyborgs Cyrax, Sektor and Cyber Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat and the Terminator, but made out of green shiny metal. Also they NEED to have the power icon on their chests, complete with a RROD should they ever malfunction (which happens often with older robots).
They are mortal enemies to the Sony Defense Force and stand neutral bad to the Nintendian Empire.

The Nintendonian Empire, as ruled by Emperor Iwata, was founded by the late Emperor Yamauchi many hundreds of years ago. Prof. Miyamoto is one of the loyal citizens and the inventor of many useful devices like the Rumble Pak and also the Brain behind design choices, for example making things cube-shaped.
His late partner in science, Dr. Yokoi, died shortly after splitting away from the Nintendonian Empire, when unknown armed forces entered his home and assassinated him.
It was also around that time that the first SDF spies infiltrated the Nintendonian Empire. Because of this then-Emperor Yamauchi created a secret assassination troop who are only known as the Nintendo Ninjas (Nintenjas?).
Also Emperor Yamauchi was rumored to be a pedophile, but this has never been confirmed. Neither has it been denied.

I think that's as much as I can think of right now.
Oh please make it happen, guys!

I would really like to see a webcomic of this, something like a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly page of it. It would be really awesome. At least in my head it is.

Well I named it "Nintendian Empire" at first. But I wanted to work "Nintendo" completely into the name.
It's also meant to be more of a country, less of a group. The "Nintendos" would be a pretty good term for the denizens of the Empire.

But hey, whatever works better. I think everything sounds cool, so yeah :D

Maybe someone should create a new thread with every info on any characters and stories which came up so far.
Or maybe the OP in this thread should be updated with all this. Either way something like this needs to happen and quick. GAF-Man is just as awesome an idea as Dudebro was and still is. GAF-Man needs to exist in comic form!

This would only work if some people (perhaps Ryanardo, kage and Vulcano's assistant) took helm, decided what to keep as canon disregarding everything else, and started acting ASAP.
If I wasn't already hella busy with Dudebro, I'd love to help myself.

Their weapons are nigh-indestructible and have good costumer support but you have to take out the cartridges and blow into them to get them to work.

I do Believe that, If any character represents a company/game/hardware this must be and extra-planar entity. I don't intend the EA to have recurrent apparitions in Gafman's world.
