Two things I learned from re-reading that classic today:

1) That guy is still a member. He posts rarely now but occasionally.

2) He doesn't have a tag! Maybe 2008 was before tags on GAF but I can't imagine how you could have one of the most infamous posts in the history of the forum and no have it as your tag.

I wonder what he thinks of the "Sony just shot themselves in the foot" post now. Like if he'd defend it or laugh at it.

That was back in the time when there were still emoticons. :lol was the shortcut for
lol.gif

There was one thread that had devolved into numerous iterations of the Antonio Banderas gif that had me rolling. Someone had even spliced that gif into a Rocky IV and I almost lost it at my desk.

I think my absolute favorite was the #4infinity thread- a 4-month teaser for a game that we'd all been waiting for (Zero Escape 3), only for the to end up as trash. Never felt that sense of unity and excitement and expectation I felt in that thread anywhere else online. That, and reading the reactions in the announcement thread still makes me tear up.

The Persona and Vita community threads are also precious <3.

Any Neiteio thread. I love how they are a celebration of gaming, instead of a beacon of negativity which runs rampant on the Internet.
He often takes a certain element from a game, like a creature in Bloodborne, and makes a well-thought out thread from it.

The guy who did it is a friend of mine and he has come out and admitted as much. I can corroborate what ShockingAlberto and 645 said because I was on the same forum at the time.

Also I think my favorite gaf thread is the one where the OP's friend wanted to eat a Ocarina of Time 3DS cartridge and went as far as to show him a diagram of the digestive system to explain how it would work

Does anyone remember a very old thread were a weird guy was posting his plans to bring back Dreamcast? He claimed he had money and was going to buy it from Sega and have new games. Elaborate plans for massive AAA titles, he knew what he wanted to do down to how many discs his GTA clone would be.

Also little self promotion but I have a soft spot in my heart for one of my first threads here.

It was relatively peaceful time in GAF, minus some Wii U murmur since it had just released. Then the PS4 reveal event was announced and kazification and positivity were abound for a short while.

And then Sony's marketing team or whoever decided to be a little cheeky and declare ''Oh, Yay, Another Mario Game.'' Step up to Playstation 2/20

It ended up being a total fanboy shitshow. Mods had to lock the thread due to fun stuff such as ''your parents wouldn't care if you were dead'' level of insults. I consider it the beginning of the new fanboy war that reached it's peak with Adam Orth and Xbox May event.
