What is GOG? 100% DRM free games of the past and present available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Pay a few bucks, download an installer and play!
Thread info pt 1: Above: Links to GOG.com, GOG's forums, Recommended games by GAF members, MRORANGE's thread of PC gaming threads.
Thread info pt 2: Below: GOG's recent releases (current/past month), followed by a section of quotes for any of the recommended recent releases.
Past yearly threads: 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010

With the introduction of DRM-free movies and Amiga emulation behind us, hopefully GOG Galaxy makes an appearence this month. Quite a few of the releases from
last month are still in review for the recommended games list, so there'll be a few more golden thumbnails to go with all the releases below. Wasteland 2 sneaks in the
banner above, ahead of its official debut for the list. Despite numerous bugs, it captures that classic GOG essence, and opened the door for similar projects to follow.

Still deciding on whether I get Wasteland 2 and Divinity: Original Sin for GOG or Steam, may end up coming down to deals unless one has something the other doesn't. Not buying them now as I still need to beat Baldur's Gate and Dark Souls 2.

Those DROD comments actually belong to Trails in the Sky, I believe.

Thanks, felt like something went wrong when removing the older recommendations from two months ago, that was it!

Wasteland 2 I'm not sure about, but D:OS is supposed to have some GOG Galaxy enhancements, that should keep the features in check. Time will tell, I guess.

I for one hope GOG team just reverse engineers the Steamworks API, so that devs have an easy way to add achievements to GOG versions.
Otherwise, I don't expect to see that many games having them.

Mitsurugi's not my thing, but everyone should get Vangers soon. Vanilla or sale price, it's an excellently weird premise for a game, and I've not much reason to dislike it aside from tedium.

Three more games for the list this week, a bit of catching up left to do still.

Wasteland 2 is up first, a generally worthy sequel to Wasteland (albeit with some gameplay changes from the original), that has that special something(s) to it which will keep you going back for more. Even though there's a large number of bugs (which should hopefully get better as time goes on), people still love the game, and finish it. Definitely one to try if you enjoy RPGs that venture a bit off the beaten path.

Speaking of different, Hatoful Boyfriend is next, and there's a good chance it's quite different than anything else you've ever played... well being a game (or more precisely, visual novel) about pigeons. All the usual trappings (multiple paths, endings, etc) of the genre, mixed in with a story that manages to impress and pleasantly surprise most everyone who tries it.

Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition is last for this week, an enhanced version of the original game, which had very favourable impressions. While the additions are a little mixed, they're generally seen as positive and since the original game is pretty short, a little extra doesn't hurt too much. The game delivers an enjoyable mix of platforming and combat, while not being a cakewalk.

All the prior week's release I didn't get around to yet, but here are my preliminary thoughts:
- Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae (might make it, |OT| had some pretty positive impressions, but I'm just not sure if there's enough)
- DROD: The Second Sky (probably will make it if 5 people wrote about it)
- Terraria (definitely going to make it, this game has tons of great impressions)

There's a button at the bottom of the list 'show owned games'.

no it's other way around, I can't see which ones I own on a sale list

edited: oh well, the site stopped working altogether, it seems

edit2: oh, I get it, it already shows only games I don't have? got confused

Ah, I see I have been quoted here on the Shadowgate section.

Seriously, if you haven't got it yet and like point & clicks, please consider it. Not only because it is rather awesome, but means that the studio may well continue and make even more goodness to play in future.

I'm really having a bad day or what? so I bought my 3 games, no mutations happened...
oh well
I probably shouldn't have went to checkout at once (><)

There's a way to peek at what Mutator games you have before checking out. See this thread.

Lucky me - rolled Trine, Hotline Miami, and Fist Puncher. o_0

Will try again later to see if the games reset (retrying checkout immediately didn't reset games).

Can never seem to get the good stuff in these promos - same with that Pot of Gold one from March.

Din's Curse is out and on sale for 50% off. Looks interesting, has anyone played the game?

From what I read when GOG released one of Soldak's earlier games, Depths of Peril, it was said Depths was made sorta obsolete by Din's Curse, and if not for Din's Curse, Depths would be a good game, but because Din's Curse is just so much better, Depths was harder for people to recommend. So I expect Din's Curse to be very good based on that.

I think you would be better off with Torchlight 2 and steamworks. I enjoyed the short time I played but I'm not sure if its worth the $5 (more for expansion).

Din's Curse is out and on sale for 50% off. Looks interesting, has anyone played the game?

It's got very dated graphics and clunky gameplay, but I find it to be a very engaging and fun ARPG. The dynamic nature of the gameplay keeps things fresh for quite a while. It shines even more with the Demon War expansion, which is half off along with the game right now. Personally, my favourite part about Din's Curse is the ability to configure the game to your liking. Everything is configurable; game length, difficulty, challenge modes, - and not just for each map, but your character(s) as well.

The demo linked above should give you some idea whether it's up your alley or not.

This is a fair interpretation.

Oddly, I found the writing in Depths of Peril to be phenomenal - the short stories are worth hunting down, and I'd recommend the game for that alone... it's really memorable stuff.

I tried this mutator bundle thing, got three super cheap games because i'm cheap so the total was $12.

I got Divinity Original Sin as one of the mutators! :O I've never won anything as cool as this before...

I think that's as close to a jackpot as they're legally allowed to give.

Congratulations - it's a great game.

I did the mutator thing three times, got nothing I really wanted!

Trine Enchanted Edition
Back to the Future
Tzar (this looks interesting!)
Jack Keane (c'mon!)
Vertical Drop Heroes
Capitalism 2 (interesting!)
Sword of the Samurai
King of Dragon Pass (interesting!)
Luftrausers (great game, but I'll never play it on PC/Mac)

The games I selected were:

Hind
Omikron
Silent Service 1+2
Jagged Alliance
Shadow Warrior Classic Complete (I hope this is the original release on Dosbox)
Project Edegen
Cannon Fodder
Enclave
Soulbringer

I haven't bought anything in the mutator sale, which might explain why my mutators haven't changed. I was hoping for Blackwell Epiphany, Gods Will Be Watching, and/or Banished I try every couple hours and peek (view page source, check release dates of items) but they don't change. Oh well.
