Gamergate by far. An appalling and embarassing movement that put mainstream acceptance of gaming back years while silencing many strong voices within the industry and making others scared to pursue careers in the industry.

Honorable mention to Ubisoft's PR branch this year. It's like they were trying to emulate 2013 Microsoft.

EDIT: Changing my vote because I totally forgot Sonic Boom was a thing.

Yeah, I was expecting it to be bad from day 1, but it ended up being a comedy goldmine with that god damn jumping glitch, and how unfinished it ended up being. Just as the franchise is starting to recover it gets dragged right back down again.

Gamergate would be my pick. Yes, Ubi Soft released a few games much earlier than they should have, and yes, the Halo MCC is a non-stop parade of non-working hijinks, but Gamergate exposed a lot of fuckwads for who they are, and it exposed them to people who had no idea how bad things had gotten.

i didnt follow Gamergate closely enough, so my vote goes to Ubisoft.


The DLC practices, monetizing full priced games, churning out sequel after sequel, putting out unfinished game all to appease investors and shareholders, because they sure didnt do those things to please gamers.
