Persona 5/Dancing All Night (2015), Persona Q/P4AU (Fall 2014) for NA

What jRPG fan ran out or will be running out in a couple months to grab a PS4 for all of it's fantastic jRPG content? What fan would buy a PS4 for Persona 5 if it came out on it? I'm talking American fans at this point.

This isn't a AAA bombshell exclusive. It's still a niche title.

This makes sense to me.

It would be a start to revitalized a dead genre

I suspect the reason Persona 5 is not coming to 360 is because of the decision to create a brand new engine for the game. It's obviously had development issues and was even rumored to be on PS4 at one point, but it seems like all hands are on deck to get the game working on PS3 so other consoles went out the door when they made the decision to start from scratch instead of piggybacking off Catherine and Gamebryo.

Wasn't the desicion to use their own engine instead of Gamebryo for Persona 5 made from the start? That's what I remember but I could easily be wrong.
What you said could easily be the reason for the exclusivity, though.

I would say there's 0% chance I'll play a PS3 (or Xbox 360) game in 2015 personally. Maybe there will be a Person 5 Golden one day!

I don't remember that.
Its initial sales were around one million copies, but much like Earthbound it has since gained a huge cult following.

In all likelihood it will get a PS4 port, but it might be 2020 before that happens.

The only one I'll buy is the rhythm game, if it ends up good and somewhat challenging. Need my Theatrhythm fix and I dun got no 3DS no mo.

Atlus is nuts for thinking PS3 will be viable outside Japan in 2015. Better be developing a PS4 port along side.

So, for us Europeans:

Persona 5: 2016
Persona 4 Dancing: Late 2015-2016
Persona 4 Ultimax: 20XX
Persona Q: lol (if we go by SMT IV)

Hopefully I'm wrong :(

Man, I'm just alight with wanting to know about this damn game.

What about that PS Now service? Couldn't it end up on there?

Maybe? PS Now hasn't gained much traction yet, but in a few years it could be a viable option.

Also Persona 5 continues to kind of be a ball of mystery, it would be nice to see some actual previews of what it's supposed to play like.

Hopefully Social Links will be less stupid.

I'll play good games wherever they come out, whenever they come out

I hate waiting so much, but my PS3 will be ready. Can't really understand tho, those how says they won't get it only 'cause is a on a last-gen console.

Persona is my favorite series, so I'll play this on PS3, even if it's the only game I play on that system in 2015. That said, I really wish that the japanese version came with english subs. The English dubs actually aren't that bad in themselves. BUT, if I could play it at the same time as the Japanese release, would be godsend.

2015 going to be a hard wait.

As much as some people might want to reinforce the fact that Persona was originally a spin-off, it has grown large enough to now be its own series with its own "spin-offs."

And look where that has led it, a dancing game and a game that will likely bury EO as a series.

Super hyped. Only one thing: Like always give me dual audio where it maters - Persona 5 - and not only for dancing all night.

Assuming Sony sorts out helping Logitech get their Harmony remotes supported I may not even have the PS3 hooked up come 2015. Better universal remote support for media playback and the Kingdom Hearts HD releases are the only reason the thing is still in my entertainment center right now.

So much port begging. It's not like it wasn't already known that it would be a PS3 game for months now, nor is it a surprise to see Atlus not jumping head-first into developing for a next-gen console again (P3 and P4 were released late into the PS2's life while PS3 was readily available, so of course they're doing the same thing with P5 on PS3 now that PS4 has been released).
P4 came out on the PS2 in 2008, 2 years after the PS3 came out. This isn't new.
Exactly right.

I don't know that it's fair to call it a big exclusive. This game won't move anywhere near the numbers of a big console exclusive like uncharted. If I remember the sales for 4 outside of Japan were lower than anticipated.

Even if Persona games don't move big numbers Persona is a big and appreciated name in the jrpg genre, a big jrpg name releasing in 2015 on PS3 instead of PS4 could be a bad thing for many reasons imo, but i guess that a big installed base was one of the most important factors.

Where's the port begging? Certainly not from me, I never explicitly asked for a port. I also think it's a bit silly to compare this to the PS2/PS3 situation when last generation has lasted for way too long as it is.

These. Guys, just be happy we're getting it. And honestly while I'd be glad for a 360 or PS4 version I don't expect them.

Personally I'm pissed because I can't play the goddamned thing. Stupid lack of backwards compatibility...

I hope the Persona series completely blows up in the upcoming years. Obviously relatively low-budget, but it doesn't seem to be hindered by it. I would love to see games like these to become powerhouses.
