Yeah, I've been trying to get good times on some of the shorter stages, got a few number one spots. Definitely means not many people are playing haha. I didn't think I would be into the speed running aspect of the game but it gets pretty addictive. Hope to see you on the boards!Anyone going for top times? Have you taken the top spot on any stages?
I'm rulingright now. I guess that means not many people are playing.Stage 8
Is young yumi the seasonal one?
I still think the price on this game is insanely stupid, but I have to support a good thing when it comes stateside.
Not sure when I'll actually play it because I'm knee-deep in like 50 other games, but uh... I did my part. I'm sure the game will be fantastic.
Curious to see how well this thing actually ends up doing.
Why does the OP bash Yoshi's Island? YI is a very fun, well designed game.
Yeah, something like that for me too. Watching this, though, makes me feel so bad: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm22794920
$30 for a digital product on Nintendo's platform is just something I can't get behind. I hate digital as it is and nobody does it worse than Nintendo. If this were available at retail I'd be all over it. :\

Yeah, really a bad way to do what is a (semi) OT for a small game that needs support.
I'll take New Yoshi over this game in a heartbeat anyways.
But the reality is it would have been a costly risk for Natsume to take going retail with it. This really boils down to either digital or not getting it at all. The same applies to what happened with Ace Attorney 5. I'm grateful that we get versus not getting it.
BTW, does anyone know how do I unlock Young Yumi? When I learned that you get the old OST with her, I wanted to use her and no one else.
That's the thing. I shelled out $60 for Umihara Kawase DS a couple years ago without a second thought. Felt like a good value then (feels like an even better value now, with the price increase and whatnot.) But you make it a digital game on Nintendo's platform, and suddenly, it feels like the game is worth $20 at the absolute most. Yet, I know if it was a $40 retail release, I'd plunk down the cash and beg for more. Shit, I'd have paid $80 or whatever for the Japanese release if that stupid region lock wasn't in place.
I dunno. It's weird how digital distorts perceived value so drastically.
There's a JP retail version available if anyone ever defeats the region lock on 3DS.
It hasn't been fixed. This is a 3D off game if you know what's good for your play experience. The difference in physics between the Super Famicom version and this one was throwing me off at first, but I'm becoming more used it now.Glad to hear that people are enjoying this. I got the DS compilation game when I arrived in Japan, and I picked this one up a few months ago, and, despite missing the sprite graphics a bit, I really do like this one the most of all the games. The physics are slightly different in each version, but they work well here, and the fact that you don't have to start over from the beginning each time you play helps, since I don't have the patience to replay every stage a million times. I don't know if it was fixed from the Japanese version, but if the framerate really sucks, turn off the 3D and it will play just fine. There were levels where it was almost unplayable with the 3D on, which is a pity, since I think it looks pretty good.
The actual in-game character models are about as far from the artwork as you could imagine.

It's easily worth it, this was a retail release in Japan after all. I've already put more hours into this than both of the 3DS Mario platformers, not to mention it is better than those$30? Game looks interesting and I really want to try it out.
But at that price? nooooooope.
These empty leaderboards are a little depressing, lol. Have seriously only three people beaten the 2nd crab boss?
not for lack of trying i assure you
I popped in the original SFC game today because I'm loving this 3DS game. I never beat the SFC game because I sucked, but the individual level gameplay in the 3DS game has given me enough practice to be decent. The original looks and feels way smoother and faster in comparison though, Is Yumi's not 60fps? I imagine it would be...
Yeah, I can definitely feel the difference, bummer. Still a great game though. It's only 30 fps and drops to around 15 in 3D. I assume the original was 60.
Ah yeah, I didn't notice that it was TA. Still, not having played the games in this series before, I'm still getting used to the controls in contracting and expanding the line. I hope that some day I can pull off the moves in that video or like this:Heh, you probably shouldn't feel too bad, 'cause that says it's tool assisted.
... Not to say there isn't some crazy human play out there.
I wonder if Giant Bomb will ignore this eShop release like they normally do, because I'd really appreciate a quick look.
$30 may seem steep, but chances are good you would have to pay at least double that for a used copy of the earlier versions on eBay.

Price is such a bummer. Honestly I thought it was gonna be 10 bucks, looks like an iOS game. :-/ but ill pick it up down the line.

That's honestly an insult to iOS games. This has to be the ugliest game I've seen this year. I'm not saying that the game doesn't look really fun or anything...
