I totally agree with you and I would most likely go for the same route.
He should have avoided that topic, his sources we're bad and he should apologize.
Well, I hope he does.

I wanted to give a clearer picture, that his intention was different.
His choice of words was also wrong, but as I said, he gave what he heard.

When was the last time an established games writer basically said in public that a certain person was fired because they weren't good enough, and had no proof to back up that statement?

This something that neogaf is much better at compare to gaming sites .
That someone has to take responsibility for what they say which is something that good about the fourm .
Something that gaming journalism does not have .

EDIT: Also, I only have so much sympathy for someone who puts them self out there giving information (true or not) in highly contentious fanboy waters. I currently have the tiniest piece of what could be technically considered insider information about a totally unrelated topic but I'm sure as hell not putting anything out there because my skin is way too thin.

Yeah I feel for the guy too. You can't deny that it is related, if not the sole reason for his tweet. I just don't understand why this needs to be the last straw. Just because a bunch of gaffers are asking for his head? I'm pretty sure Morty has been through a lot worse than that.

All he needs to do is sort this out with Col, make it public so that journalists pick that up as well and… problem solved! His tweet is an unnecessary distraction.

Unless you are a mind reader, you can't possibly know what his intentions were. It's generally seemed to me like his intentions were self-aggrandizement, at any cost.

Yeah, I wouldn't necessarily blame mort for possibly being fed bad info but you need to draw the line somewhere. It's possible to look at a development studio or company from a neutral perspective but when you start talking about individuals then you need to be careful with what you say.

He handled it like a jackass though.

I totally agree.
I guess the heat of the moment with all the speculation going on, he had enough of it.
He made a mistake and has to deal with it now.


However, it's nice to have someone here, who gave an explanation about the surroundings, because some speculations have gone to a point where the topics are unbearable.

I was gonna be all assy and say, "but we have the NHS over here, no ridiculous medical bills", then saw your spurs avatar, and realised you're a really nice guy and I'm an asshole.
