Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

Re: Infinite Air Dodges

In the Dev Direct and in the Sakurai vs. Spectator match at E3, you could see that IADs were back and that in the latter, some form of cancelling tumbling state with the air dodge was in. It was a fuck load more muted in use than in Brawl though given that any time you were launched you could cancel momentum/hitstun but in the Smash 4 footage, it almost looked like you had to let hit stun play out before you could do any dodges.

I think a lot of that has changed though, especially after watching the Little Mac trailer.

that nintendo 64 rainbow road updated gives me good feels

holy fuck, WHAT? WHAAAAAAAAT?!

*runs to MK8 threads*

That's how I remember it too.

It was used to get out of that state where you're just free-falling and have to put an input to do something.

The only air dodge in the Little Mac trailer is the one by Wii Fit Trainer.

Why is Reuben Langdon saying he voiced Raiden in Super Smash Bros (right at the bottom of the page near the Raiden pic)? I can't remember Raiden being in Brawl?

Did a voice actor just leak something big here?

Who voiced gray fox in brawl?

Edit: Rob Paulsen did, and Raiden did not appear at all in Brawl I'd call this an honest to good leak

"Raiden was always a character that I had wanted to play. I did end up playing him on Super Smash Bros; so I did end up playing him eventually."

I would assume he meant PS All-Stars.

Edit: Or maybe not. I only see him as the voice actor for Ken in SF4 & Dante from DMC. Nobody has him listed for PS All-Stars. Perhaps he's a new assist trophy, should Snake return....or maybe appears in codec conversations, which would be awesome if those happened to return along with Snake.

Yeah Quinton Flynn plays him in PASBR, so I don't get what the heck Reuben is talking about. I hope this means Snake is in Smash 4.

Sakruai would never allow to include Raiden! He never appeared in a game for an Nintendo product. Unless you count his doppelganger in Metal Gear Soild 3.

I think, he means playing as him as in playing the game and not acting the character. Then he simply mistakes PASBR with SSBB or Snake in SSBB with Raiden.

If Raiden was actually playable, though, he'd be the only character in the Smash Bros. series who hasn't appeared in a game on a Nintendo console.

This probably indicates he's an assist trophy with snake playable as a vet. Were raiden playable he probably would have more lines even if they were just grunts and screams for attacks.

He probably confused Smash with PSABR.

He didn't voice Raiden in that game

I wouldn't make a thread yet... VA might be confused, said wrong series, transcript could be wrong... idk. Seems a bit thin.

"Raiden was always a character that I had wanted to play (acting). I did end up playing (actual playing the game) him on Super Smash Bros (he confuses the game with PSABR); so I did end up playing (acting) him eventually."

He played the new Raiden in PSABR, before he became his voice-actor in his game. The Cyborg Raiden was first time playable in PSABR and he wasn't the voice-actor in this game.

This has happened quiet a few times before though, we got confirmation of a localization for Kingdom Hearts re:coded from a comment roxas's va made, and vaan's va did something similar when dissidia 2 was announced. There was no reason for him to say he played Raiden in smash unless he played him in the upcoming smash 4.

Quinton Flynn voiced Raiden in PSABR you're wrong

No, it is the point! He played Cyborg Raiden as in playing a character in a videogame before he was playing Cyborg Raiden as in acting in Metal Gear Rising. This would be only possible, if he wasn't the voice-actor in PSABR. And he isn't! Quinton Flynn is. So it makes sense.

So I'm just gonna ask: do attacks we haven't just casually seen in character updates/ frequently appear in daily shots without a buff or extra info?

There's plenty of characters that have had all their specials revealed (Bowser, Pit, so some degree Fox, and so on); but I've noticed for a long time that quite a few characters outright have significant moves missing entirely from any daily shot exposure.

For Pikachu I don't think we've seen his thunder before today, right? Because Pikachu included, we can count the veterans that have had all 4 specials revealed on a single hand.

(Bowser, pikachu, mario, Marth, Pit; I think that's all of em)

It makes me wonder if the missing move for monst remaining characters has had a substantial update like pikachu's.

Pikachu uses Thunder in the very first trailer.

As other stated, it was in the first trailer, I believe it was Bowser as well being tossed around there too

Edit: Nope it was DK, my mistake

Regulus Tera

Romanes Eunt Domus
What's up with all the people in that thread being like "booo I don't want Snake back!"? Snake was the most fun character to play as in Brawl.

Odd question but, does anyone here know if a Japanese WiiU Pro Controller would work perfectly fine on a North American WiiU? Need to know before I import one in a few days for cheap. I would think it would but you never know

Edit: google search seems to indicate yes.

Pic of the day. Pikachu's Thunder now starts off with a thundercloud that deals a Meteor Smash! From left to right, you can see this combo starting with Pikachu throwing the opponent upward, Meteor Smashing with the lightning strike, and then directly attacking. Foes can dodge, of course, so the attack won't hit consistently, but when it does, it sure feels good!

Now that looks nice.

As a Pikachu main, I am quite skeptical. While the ability to attack directly out of Thunder will be...well, quite possibly OP as hell, the cloud doing a meteor smash kinda kills my beloved Thunder Spiking tactic.

... Who is saying that? I don't mind Snake, but considering the rights owner said he hadn't heard of any involvement, it's assumed he's out.

NWR: One more question here. Sonic was very popular in Smash Bros. for Wii. Is there any possibility of him making a return appearance in the next Smash Bros.?

TI: All we can say is that we also think it would be awesome if he was in the next Smash Bros. So yea, but that's more of a question for Nintendo than us.

We still haven't seen the boomerang on either version of link. I assumed it'd be beetle for adult link, but now it's an item, so i don't know!

No more KOs to enemies flying high? This sounds like another Sakurai nerf "Oh you threw me pretty high and then finish me off with thunder? well now the cloud spikes, so you cant do that anymore!"

I really dont know if this is good or bad, at best it will lead to tech chases when the enemies crash into the ground.

Did you make a gif of yourself rolling your eyes?

I had it laying around. Wasn't made for this specifically.

It effectively removes one of the more interesting dynamics of Pikachu's playstyle, so yeah it is a shame.

It remains to be seen if the ability to attack out of Thunder makes up for it or not, though.

Making it a combo-able move would be interesting, but it just felt broken before. If it is indeed no longer possible (which I actually doubt quite a lot), Smash will be better for it.

I, for one, agree wholeheartedly with this:

From the way Sakurai words the buff, I get the feeling it will be frame specific, or like when the opponent is at a certain height to the thundercloud after it just appeared. If the person is below the thundercloud it might just be like before, or if the person came into contact with it (in the air) after it started it wouldn't be a meteor smash.

That's my theory / interpretation at least.
