New Destiny Gameplay

A beta is definitely going to be necessary for me to make up my mind.

Yeah yeah, I can echo the comparisons that already have been a million times but what bothers me more than anything is the slow-ish pace. Is there a beta date other than summer yet?

Gotta say, this is one thing I'm exceedingly happy about. Love the fact that I get a chance to try it out before dropping $60.

Remove the armor abilities (how did they not learned from Reach?), exchange plasma guns for guns with bullets, increase difficulty, add pvp and release for PC

game fixed

I think they have a marketing problem with this game. People still don't have a clear picture what its suppose to be. Not only is it evident in this thread but also in some of the previews I've read and watched. I know Bungie likes to be coy about their games but it was a mistake this time.
It's still months away. They got time.

Really underwhelming...especially with the switch from 1st person to 3rd for certain abilities. Very jarring.

As others have pointed out, it's like Borderlands with another paint job. If they're gonna have dedicated servers, I don't there'll be dedicated Aus servers. I'm not gonna pay for a 2-300+ ms FPS. Nor do I have the intention to ever pay for Sony's online services either.

I had to laugh at the good ol' "need time to unlock this, hold them off!" generic FPS nonsense.

Wow, lol a tough crowd in here for some reason.
Looks like Halo + Borderlands, which to me is awesome because I adored those games.
Looking forward to trying the beta on PS4.

Man who plays like that? Slowly panning the camera around and stuff. It makes it look incredibly dull.

Jesus Christ, it's obvious they're trying to showcase the game.
You want footage that looks like they're playing CoD on 10 sensitivity?

This bit of the Eurogamer preview seems promising:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-04-28-getting-to-play-destiny-better-than-halo

I also find the Borderlands comparisons a bit lazy. That game lacks the scale, the MMO elements and the competitive gameplay of this game.

Agreed, It sounds like it's going to be a game thats fun for SP type gamers and the MMO experiences should be done well enough for console gamers who arent used to MMO's.....I never played Borderlands so the comparisons go way over my head. Seems some folk are hating it based on a 9min vid.

I really hope we get a Vidoc before E3. If the next major info drop isn't until then, that'll be a little frustrating.

Does it matter? Trust Bungie to know what's technically best for their game. Depending on what they want to deliver with the gameplay, it could be 30 or 60.

Yes it mattes, it' s a twitch based shooter. I want an as responsive, low latency as possible.
I've got to say that halo had a pretty impressive response time for a 30fps game but still, it would have been a lot better to control at 60.

Negative articles and comments? Seems worrying for a preview.

Negative articles?

It's as if they're trying to show off the graphics and art direction...shame on them.

We live in a hyperactive CoD/Titanfall world, and this sentiment is the result.

Like others already said, a lot gameplay wise looks like Borderlands (2) without the art style. Needless to say, I'm not sold. Not sold at all. It looks fun, though. But not hype worthy for me.

But whatever floats your boat, man.

This game still screams Halo meets Borderlands, and not even in that of a good way. Something about these gameplay clips that makes it seem quite boring.

To all those of you who feels it looks boring. Why?

Is it because A) The shooting feels dull? B) You're seeing your favorite exclusive developer go multiplatform C) You've already seen this stuff in past Halo games

It makes it look smoother and lets you take in the environments better . Moving it too fast would make it appear jittery and less cinematic and you'd miss all the details.

It is annoying to watch though

that was really.....boring! wasn't exciting at all, didn't help with the main character just bobbing around all the time, never having to take cover or sprint!

also whats with the lack of ambient sound, no grunts or shouts...Music didn't quite seem right either for the genre, would have felt more in place in a medieval theme game.

Visuals looked good though

Okay since we are talking about this game...lets talk about Bungie and the problems that one can see even from this trailer.

Instead of hiring talented voice actors, they instead have hired peter dinklage and the black dude from fringe. Very, very, very recognizable voices take you out of the game...instead of being in the world of destiny you say "oh thats that dude". And why would Bungie make these decisions..because we haz so much monies. The studio is 500 deep and they are making these choices. And the voice acting in the trailer sounds like ass.

Seriously this kind of game isn't even AAA anymore its AAAA. And if it doesn't do well......

This video doesn't look particularly great I have to say. I'm looking forward to the game but this vertical slice seems pretty run of the mill

I agree.

I'll undoubtedly be picking up the game...but it does look somewhat bland.

The main thing I don't get is, why show the same location that we've seen in the past? There was nothing new. Sure it was to give press hands on but has that not happened before?

We've seen the classes and some of their moves. We've seen bits of Old Russia, we've seen some unique guns and such. We've seen the Fallen too.

What was the point in showing more of the same? I understand they'll be saving the good stuff for E3 but surely something a bit different or new wouldn't have hurt?

I really want to like this but every video I get a little less excited. I wonder if the competitive aspect can save this game for me because this just looks dull to me. The camera going 3rd person was an awful idea I think as well. Really messes up the flow of combat in that video.

Maybe a solid vehicle element will change my mind.

Despite all my misgivings, the game looks fun. But I think Bungie is doing a really bad job of showing the game off, especially compared to the mastery with which they conducted the hype trains for Halo 2, Halo 3, and Reach. With Destiny, it feels like they're showing the same stuff over and over, while talking (in incrementally less vague terms) about the details that really make the game unique. They billed these new previews as "time to stop talking and start showing," but as many others have noted, the previews showed what amounts to very standard FPS fare. It looks solid and even great, but they're still just talking about all the things that make the game really special. I was hoping the incremental drips of new info would have come to a flooding with these new previews. They really need to blow the lid off of this game and connect the dots for us.

But again: I'm setting my hype levels at "Borderlands 3". Which is enough to get me very excited.

Gameplay still not doing much for me. Maybe it's just the way they are showing it, but it seems to lack urgency. The weapon sounds are also lacking. And Ghost's VA is... not very good?

Art is fantastic though.

I'm honestly shocked at all the "boring" comments. It looks really polished and seems to have much better gunplay than other loot based shooters.

I would hope the gunplay would stand on it's own, loot based shooter or not.

Expectations are high for this game. That's why you are seeing these reactions. A lot of people are hoping and even expecting this game to be amazing rather than just good.

I don't like when it brings you out of first person to do magic attacks or whatever. Didn't like it in Halo, don't like it here.

My eyes glazed over 5 mins in. A protect the objective while streams of enemies attack? This is what they choose to showcase?

Come on Bungie show us more of this world I thought this game had actual exploration that didn't start and end with players running and jumping all over the place like an idiot letting off lead or plasma.

Er...um...what? You don't use recognizable voice actors from other shows/movies because it takes you out of the experience?

Do you watch a lot of movies and TV shows?

That looked incredible. Coop will be a blast.

I really can't give Bungie's artist enough praise, the game is gorgeous aesthetically. The gameplay seems fantastic, from the gunplay and Halo-ish elements, to making every bullet you or hit you land feel satisfying. The music was probably the most underwhelming part for me.

This is one of the few shooters I can bring myself to be excited for.
