What's the worst game you've played to completion and why did you stick with it?

I'll probably get some hate for my pick, but Nier. Just not a well designed game, in my opinion. I can't really recall one moment of gameplay that I enjoyed, but I wanted to see how the story played out since people have praised it so much. It was worth it in the end. So, what's your pick?

Sonic 2006. I view it as a rite of passage, everyone should be forced to go through it at least once. Only then will you understand what a 'bad' game actually is.

I don't think it's a terrible game now...but while I was playing I was having a terrible time with it. I kept playing hoping the story was going to make sense at the end.

But I was still confused and angry. D<

Viking: Battle for Asgard - I got it for free and literally had nothing else to play at the time

Aliens:CM Because I loved it, in a weird way I really did love the multilayer too!

I usually abandon games I don't enjoy, but Project X Zone I finished for no reason I can adequately explain, despite being a repetitive, boring, time-consuming game with no actual tactical skill or strategy required.

I bought The Yakyuken Special for the novelty, and said novelty wears off long before you luck out and finally win a full set. I stuck with it until I won one anyway.

Don't Google that at work.

Knack... Me and my friend said we would complete it on that said day...
It was a very tedious 6-8 hours. Many times we thought about changing from hard to easy to just speed it up.

In recent years I would say Assassin's Creed. It was so boring seemingly doing the same missions in a rinse-and-repeat fashion.

Why did I complete it? Because back then if I started a game I had to finish it.
And achievements.

I am currently having the same type of issue with Penumbra Requiem. All I seem to be doing is moving boxes around.

First thing that comes to mind would be Deadly Premonition PS3/PC, because the game is so bad its good.
... or is it so good it's bad? No, bad definitely comes first but some how it is a strangely compelling game.

Rrevision: Eternal Sonata, takes the cake as the most terrible, regrettable game I ever slogged through, all because of its fun battle system. Ugh.

Alpha Protocol. Just a huge mess of a a game mechanically, with infuriating boss fights and early 00's level stealth and combat. Plus a really predictable and poorly told plot.
I stuck with it because I hate quitting on books/movies/games without making sure it didn't get interesting later on, and there was some fun snarky dialogue between Thornton and the other characters.

Brink. I wanted to get the achievements. I didn't get all of the achievements, but oh well, screw that game.

Drakan: The Ancients' Gates. I loved the first game in the series, I wanted to see the story to the end, and I was determined to finish it just because. It's a damn shame how they've run that IP into the ground.

Don't know if it's the worst but the one that comes to mind is Ninja Gaiden 3 RE. I don't even know why I beat it. I got to the point where I just wanted it to be over so I turned on the auto dodge. I didn't just quit because I was too far into the game to not see the end.

It's not a bad game per se, but hated almost everything about the Tomb Raider reboot. The characters, the story, the XP system, lack of puzzles and more.
I actually stopped playing for a while, but a buddy told me that I was close to the end, so I manned up and finished it.

Alice, Madness Returns. It's a very pretty game, but by god it gets boring and repetitive. I remember enjoying it a lot at the start, then gradually getting bored doing the same thing over and over again, then getting frustrated by the unfair difficulty spikes, then wondering how much longer it was going to go on, then just wanting it to end, then starting to actively hate it. It's the only game I've ever completed out of spite.

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

Ugh I liked Lloyd and the original cast too much.

Oh no, my roommates played through this whole game when it came out, they hated and loathed every moment of it. Seriously don't know how or why they finished it. It's inclusion is the only reason they never bought the ps3 rerelease

In a similar vain I feel for anybody who managed to do Last Rebellion to completion as it's also quite garbage....!!!! That also brings to mind I played through an awful rpg, Eternal Sonata! Awesome battle system. Garbage game though. Just rubbish.

I really found Assassin's Creed Revelations hard to finish. Hated every second of it but it was a gift so I felt obliged. I think that was more me being burnt out on Assassin's Creed at the time having just finished Brotherhood as opposed to it being an outright terrible game but ugh, one of the only times I've truly hated playing a game.

I didn't really enjoy playing Doom 3.

The first few hours were OK, but the game just went on and on without any change in the gameplay or the setting, and the cheap scares got really boring after a while.

I still finished it because I had spent my hard earned money on it, so I figured I'd at least see it through to the end.

This is me, it was just the opposite of everything I wanted in a Final Fantasy, I felt the need to be able to say I've at least completed all the offline FFs, though I still got some older ones missing.

A friend of mine finished DMC2, in one sitting, just because it was short and easy I suppose. :p

Technically haven't finished it yet, but in the process: MGS3. Not even trolling, I know how great it is as a stealth game but it's so damn hard. Clunky controls on Vita don't help. I can't go 30 secs without dying/being spotted on normal difficulty. I equally sucked at MGS2 but at least it had a radar.

The characters are so ridiculous and just have a B-movie quality. Having said that I don't mind the constant cutscenes, at least it's trying to tell a story with an interesting background.

I usually give up on bad games well before I get to the end, so a game can't be all that bad if I choose to stick with it. But if I had to pick one, Quantum Conundrum comes to mind. I enjoyed the puzzles throughout much of the game, and stuck through some more mediocre parts as I was hoping for some ingenious grand finale that never materialized. Looking back, I don't regret playing it as a whole, but I slightly regret sticking with it to the end.

Assassin's Creed 3. I knew it was bad when I stopped playing for a week. I had to finish and it felt like a chore. I let my friend borrow the game and just let him keep it.

Kane & Lynch. Even though it wasn't that long (I put 12 hours into it) it was pretty terrible. I finished it because I could, I guess.

Castlevania : Lords Of Shadows.

The only thing it's decent at is making you believe that the good bits are right around the next corner. Never again.

Killzone 3. It was the worst because I really liked KZ2. I played it to the end because I thought something was going to happen to redeem the game. There were a couple of good bits but overall it was a huge disappointment. At the end I was kind of angry.

A few games recently. 1 Was paper mario sticker star. Don't know why I kept playing. Everything about it was not fun.

I also dislike all of the PS3 naughty dog games, but I forced myself to beat them all. My brother let me borrow uncharted 1-3 and I also borrowed the last of us. I forced myself to beat every single one because everyone on the internet claims they're so great. I just really did not enjoy them. It was literally a chore to complete each one. I just had to see what the internet was talking about, and I see none of it :/ I admit they're well made games, but they just were not fun for me at all.

Same here. I kept getting excited to finally get in the castle, but it felt like it never happened. In my memory there are about 20 pre-castle levels and about 5 interior levels. Disappointing.
