Watch Dogs [Leaked Footage]

Does anyone know if it's possible to avoid police like you can in GTA5? Like, even though they are in your general area, if you are out of line of sight for long enough, they scram? Guess I haven't seen that situation yet in any footage. Someone is usually hacking or shooting their way out.

I think you can sort of. In one of the vids, the police radio came through his phone or profiler then he got a yellow circle round him, then he had to hack cameras I think to stop them tracking him and get out the area, if you failed then the police were able to track you and then pursue.

I don't know about that man, I'm not seeing a single car repeated twelve times in different colors at one intersection

I've seen this one video where this guy is running from a bunch of cops, causes a black out, climbs in a car, and then the option "press B to hide in car" comes up. He sort of slides down and the cops lose him.

In one of the first trailers, Aiden while he's in a vehicle, finds a little nook to hide his car in (after opening and closing the gate behind him) and the police just keep driving.

I guess those options are alright. I loved how GTA finally evolved with that option. Hope all these games keep giving plenty more ways to avoid detection.

I'm still playing GTA V SP and this is the most annoying thing in the game. It is than GTA IV. At least you could pick up the car in the color you want!

Watch_Dogs |OT| Aiden's smartphone is higher res.

On a serious note, I generally think reviews are written for a majority of target audience so I can see this scoring 7-8 which from what I've seen seems a little harsh. No one can judge the campaign yet but what I've been impressed with from the footage is the multiplayer aspect.

The 1 v 1 invasion is very interesting. In bitesize chunks, and the objective is not twitch shooting. It looks like you can accept or ignore invasion contracts. Not too sure if there is a time limit on invasions though - like if you get invaded, do you get a respite period of say 30 minutes where you can't be invaded again? Would be interesting to get an answer on that actually.

The decrypt mode looks fun and I think the small teams will actually encourage teamwork as well. I actually think the MP on it looks really well thought out and delivered. Not too sure on the interfaces and HUDS from screen caps though. Smartphone looks too big and cluttered and the gun HUD just looks confusing. I hope it's not another ACIII HUD disgrace.

I still can't decide between PS4 and PC.

Despite the meltdowns and the hyperboles in this thread, I'm sure the PS4 version will run just fine, I love my PS4 and the whole ecosystem, the streaming/sharing, the trophies, the remote play. But then again, the PC version will run noticeably smoother, and it'll be easier to keep playing if my gf wants to watch TV or something (remote play is cool, but I'm still choosing my PC over my Vita).

I'm torn :(

If you're sick of the game after a week or two, trading in your physical PS4 disc will give you most (if not all in some cases) of your money back. It's definitely the safer choice.

That has always been a thing in GTA games. I don't know what determines it now, but back in the GTA3 days it was based on what car you were driving. It is a way of saving on RAM. I remember using the tank trick to clear a city entirely. Since tanks used so much RAM you could use a cheat code to drop a tank into the world, and after around 5-10 tanks other cars would stop spawning on the road because the PS2 didn't have the RAM to handle it all.

I'd go PC personally if your system is capable of running it better than the PS4. I also share the same fate as you where gf hogs the TV so PC is a plus there lol. Then again if the game sucks you can always sell the PS4 version

I know. I loved those cones of sight in GTA V, even though it always seemed like they knew where you were.

So one for PS4 and one for PC. THANK YOU FOR NOTHING GUYS.

It wasn't nearly as noticeable to me in previous GTAs. In V I wouldn't even be in a car and all I would see on the road is the same sedan and coupe (literally just those models). It would happen randomly and last for I don't know how long but it was annoying as hell.

You kinda had to get lucky for this, but you could even hide in shrubbery with them right there. I loved having stars on me and being on the highway, seeing a cop coming in the opposite direction and then just adjusting my speed to stay out of sight behind a semi. Cop would just keep going. Or hopping a couple fences and hiding in a back yard. Escaping giant radius zones is a thing of the past, thank god.

It's not always clear how they detect you. At least in WD you see (and hear) people calling 911...and you can stop them, you can stop the surveillance and hide.
The GTA V AI system is pretty impressive though, it's always fun to run away from cops. Your first tries are difficult (especially with >3 stars) but you learn the tricks to disappear pretty easily. And you know how to make it lose control (e.g. going on a train with 3 stars, followed by 2 helicopters who can't turn around when you killed the first sniper)

I also like how in that one leaked footage, the silenced pistol actually worked like a silenced pistol and didn't alert the police like the freaking omnipresent ones in GTA V

How did Watch Dogs become such a pariah? Did the "downgradeaton" really cause that much angst amongst Gaffers?

More like a bandwagon of hate for cynical people to jump on because they can't see the good in anything.

"Huuuuuuuuuuuurrrr that low quality three second gif doesn't look as good as the reveal! Time to flip my shit!"

High!

Simply said they would ship BY friday, so you could get it friday or saturday from them.

Tesco said they would also ship on Friday, so you would get it saturday.

A lot of stores will be getting shipments on the 22nd, so having simply say they will ship on the 22nd or 23rd makes sense.

Where did Simply say they'd ship by Friday? :)

Buy on PS4 for $60, play for 10 days, trade in for $50. Wait for a Steam sale and get it on PC for $35.

I used that to my advantage to make money in GTAO. Specific cars were the best to sell to the auto shop, but you could only sell 1 each hour or so. Darn Free 2 Play games done wrong, Rockstar starved players for cash offering the cash cards at a real price.

? We've seen this

Yeah there was a 1080p video of it posted on a file share site a few days ago. I have them* on my PC.

This looks meh as hell. Game is far too overhyped. Still gonna give it a fair chance but wow this looks average and generic. It doesn't help that the person playing is an idiot.

Even very awesome games like GTA V or Red Dead Redemption can look bad when the player isn't doing anything interesting. That in itself shouldn't reflect on the game; it's the player who has chosen to play that way. Daylight gameplay has some nice visual effects judging from the video, even if it isn't nearly as flashy as nighttime with all the lights and atmospherics. It still looks pretty good, I think. I also like the environments, they seem decently populated and designed. I'm also liking the police AI. They seem damn aggressive, but at the same time they seem realistic in their capabilities. There's a part later in the video where the player unexpectedly makes his way over a wall and onto a highway, then he jacks some guy's van. Due to the nature of what transpired, and how hard a proper pursuit would have been given the current situation, I was impressed that it more or less stayed true to what I expected. Getting over that wall and onto the highway should have greatly increased his odds of escaping, making the job of the cops much more difficult considering were most of the action was concentrated, and it did. I liked seeing that.

It's a small sample size, but normally even if the situation is greatly in favor of the player, cops would still more or less spawn out of nowhere and be in locations that, based on what was going on, shouldn't make sense and so I enjoyed how that situation played out. It implies there's greater room for more creative ways of losing the cops if you take advantage of and know your surroundings.
