"Judges Week" attendees are saying not to expect too much from this year's E3.

Dont most games make at least 2 appearances at e3?

Year one video or announcement.
Year two playable then fall release then delay to following year.

Unless it's an annual franchise which wouldn't be much of a surprise anyway.

I wasn't really expecting any major surprises for this year release wise. It's always the stuff for the following year that tends to be the most impressive despite their limited showing.

And as Jason said, it's hardly the whole picture. People should always tame their hype, but I wouldn't throw it out the window yet.

I think most people are expecting the big news to be from games that won't be playable. So they wouldn't have been shown at Judges Week in the first place.

I've seen plenty of people suggesting Sony or Microsoft will announce games at E3 that ship this fall. It sounds like there won't be much of that happening.

Judges would only see playable stuff though, right?

Most of the megaton announcements are the stuff we get reveals for, but no playable demo, surely?

Yes. There could still be plenty of megatons. The point of this thread is in regards to games that are shipping this fall.

Ok. Haven't seen that one before. That's pretty good.

Still gettin' hyped for E3! I don't care what's coming to PS4/Xbox One as I'm not investing in either of those systems this year, and I've got enough on my plate (and what's coming up for Fall) to play anyways. I'm actually more excited to see what's coming in 2015, as that's when the release schedules will be in full swing.

Bring on E3!

I'm expecting lots of reveals for 2015/2016 games, but we've been warned for a while now not to expect all that much for 2014 outside of what we already know.

What was the last "game of the show" that came out the same calendar year? Uncharted 2? I expect big reveals and surprises... I just do not expect to play any of them this year.

When are playable games on the E3 floor ever overwhelmingly surprises that are revealed at E3? I don't see why this should tame hype for the main takeaways: the conferences.

They only show playable games at Judge's Week right?

I'm guessing most of the bombs won't actually be playable at E3.

Pretty much this. Sure I want some good games this year, since that will make me buy the console this year but its what they have planned for the next year and beyond that interests me more.

I'm fine with 2014 as it is. People really think fall is empty? Destiny, Alien: Isolation, Batman, Assassin's Creed, Dragon Age - those are all day 1 for me. Not too mention Teh Order 1886 (if it stays in), Far Cry 4 and Xbox One games like Sunset Overdrive. Plenty to be excited about. A lot better than last generations first full year anyway.

I'm really afraid that Sony and MSFT are going to coast through this year with mostly stuff like Last of Us HD and Halo 2 Anniversary with the real big next gen stuff not coming until Holiday 2015. I hope I'm wrong.

ZeldaU being announced and not playable is still uber hype for me and would not have been at judges week.

SO I'M STILL ON THE HYPE TRAIN!!!!

Meh so they only saw games that will have playable demos?

Because from what I remember most big announcements (during conferences) are not playable during the event

I've been assuming that this will be a pretty barren fall so I'm not going to get too excited, anyway.

Alien: Isolation, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Driveclub, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Batman: Arkham Knight, Far Cry 4, the usual AC and CoD games, Destiny, The Order: 1886, SSB, Civilization: Beyond Earth plus whatever is announced for fall at E3.

The fall doesn't look barren to me.

Lots of big game publishers skipped Judge's Week -- Nintendo, Ubisoft, Square Enix, etc. -- and the ones that do go don't often show the stuff they're going to announce on stage at a presser.

Show saved. The megatons will make people cry.

Meh I don't get that excited by announcements regarding one clip of a game likely to be running on ultra settings on a 5000$ pc release date 2017.

This really doesn't say much tbh. What does it take to make some of the judges impressed? For me, a game with a cool concept and deep gameplay mechanics (mostly fighting/action games) will impress me. We all know how un-popular these genres are.

Thanks for the information!
