Digging the atmosphere and characters. Graphics are simply spectacular though right now I really wish there was more horror in the game. Where are the beasties? E3?

Crappy video quality aside. It looks fucking amazing.
Not gonna bother reading the rest of this thread. Thanks for the warning. Same old shit by same old ppl.

Looks pretty.

But tragically boring and uncreative gameplay. Fucking shooters, fucking linear scripted bullshit, fucking waves of enemies popping out on a balcony, and fucking shooting sections intersected with calm "investigative" moments. Fucking video games industry.

But you agree that you were wrong about the generic comment? Those three factors alone make certain this is anything but a generic game. A generic game would be another alien fighting bald marine thing lol

As for gameplay, I honesty don't think they are trying to differentiate it too much. I think they are going for a solid TPS in which the weapons, destructibility, and other smaller elements like QTE's set it apart from other TPS in the market. I do agree however they have done a bad job at showcasing some of these and sadly in this instance it seems to be an issue with Sony and not R@D. For example we haven't seen the investigation elements of the game in action.

Ideally we will see a long gameplay segment at E3

Well if we're taking the entire game into account (setting, story, characters, weapons etc..), then no, I don't think you can describe it as generic. But the post I was responding to was a GIF of a very good looking, but "seen it done may times before" set piece of the gameplay. So I assumed it was clear I was talking just about gameplay. Anyway, like you said, hopefully we can have a better look at E3.

Don't worry man, it just works here like that. People shit on games if they don't appear to go the way they want it to go. I think the biggest beef is that this game is a coverbased TPS and people are super salty about that. Ykev kinda did a rather brilliant parody post before this gameplay trailer which kinda sums up this sentiment.

If you guys want a laugh, just look to the TLoU reveal.

eheh, awesome, you are so right !

Sony's marketing for that title is abysmal.
How in the name of fuck can you promote a game with such shitty gameplay videos??? This is a B-side footage god dammit which should be released only after a proper trailer blows everything alive out of the water.
I'm puzzled of what I'm looking at here because their marketing for DriveClub isn't nearly as bad. Currently they are giving the impression that the game sucks because that's the best that they can show from it. Which is hardly true.
C'mon Sony, get yourself together.

Seems like they actively want to keep the game under wraps. it's been a year now, and we havent seen much outside of shooting traditional enemies.

the guns look promising though, hope they explore the old setting+futuristic tech angle more in the game.

I found myself unimpressed. I'm getting more depressed about this game every time I see and hear more about it. There was zero destructibility in the video despite using grenade launcher. None of the supernatural elements or showings of the soft body physics beyond what we've already seen. The graphics looked like they're probably pretty great, and I like the setting, but I feel more and more like its a game I can hold off on, which would have shocked the version of me who saw that E3 trailer back in 2013.

It looks exactly like this ancient screenshot that Andrea wasn't proud to even post on their website. They took it down when it was brought to his attention. I won't be surprised if the build is exactly the same as the one the press had seen almost a year ago.
Yep. 10 months old build apparently. Can't wait for the E3 stage demo, when we'll hopefully catch another glimpse of the monsters!

This is stuttering for me as well. As I just posted they all are. It is bizarre.

They're all just captures of the twitch stream, which was choppy. You're not going to find a good quality one unless Sony uploads it separately. People saying they have non-choppy versions must love playing at 15fps.

Graphics are excellent but I'm just tired of these kind of linear cinematic shooters now. I already get enough of that with yearly CoD's and Battlefields. Too generic gameplay.

Priceless. Something tells me RAD could show anything at E3 and you would still not be impressed.

Haha I understand that I may sound like this, but that's really not the case.
I truly don't understand what gets people excited here. It's strange because I liked their last game (GOW GOS) so I thought their next big thing would appeal to me.

Oh and sorry for the buildings, I didn't explain it well.
I just said that what we see is generic, I'm not saying that you can't have generic buildings in your game, I just don't understand why that's all they're showing about the game. And if the whole game is like this, I think it's ugly. That's my right, right ?

Maybe my disappointment is too harshly described, I'm sorry if you feel like I'm just some random Xbox fan here to shit on the game. I'm just a gamer who owns the 5 new gen consoles and who is disappointed when seeing games with so much potential (developer, background) being in fact some random grey shooters.
Many will disagree and enjoy it and I'm happy for them !

Now give me my Uncharted ! :)

This was my concern before I saw any videos of this game and it is now my concern going forward. The writing is just plain bad. Everything else about this game is fantastic though. Can't fault the graphics. Can't fault the action. Can't fault the gameplay. Can't fault the performance acting. Can't fault the mocap.

Non stuttering version, also 1080p

Damn, the more and more I look at the media for this game, the more I like it. It looks amazing....no doubt. I am getting hyped up now.

I hope they don't screw it up between now and release date.

Are people forgetting that we haven't even seen the beasts yet? We have no idea what it will be like to encounter them and the extent to which horror will be introduced. We'll no doubt see all of that at E3, so are people really that impatient or is this just more shit posting by trolls?

Lol at the idiots hating on a game for 3 minutes of gameplay where it does exactly what it promised to do - be a solid cinematic tps. If you don't like the genre, don't comment in this thread.

I actually think this preview was better than the last one. I find it intriguing that at least at this point in the game, the player is essentially fighting on the "wrong" side. If I was a betting man I'd say that changes at some point. Another complete guess is that the older knight end up being an antagonist at some point.

I loved it, I wish we would see more variety but i guess that will be saved for E3 or something, The sounds and visuals were astounding, Loved the knee shot, The blue laser was awesome, Also im digging the mini gun. All in all i was impressed and really hope it doesnt get delayed.

I don't understand why everyone's acting incredulous or posting meaningless spam gifs at Sepp's post. I had the same thought; for a steampunk science fiction shooter set in 1886, there's a long and constant stream of remarkably modern and generic (GASP SHOCK I USED THE NO NO WORD) milspeak, which is odd and off putting and hopefully not representative of the full game.

What's so bizarre about every video stuttering when they are all captured from a stuttering Twitch stream?
Well now I know that when I did not know that prior.
Do you see how the poster right above you informed me of this fact in a civil manner, and not with a condescending tone that how on earth could someone not have known this fact in a 40 page thread holier than thou attitude?

Thanks to the poster above you for the clarification. And even more important for having basic manners.

I still think it looks excellent. Really like the art direction. I hope it FEELS different to play. Everything they've shown is kind of derivative. I reckon they're counting on their story to really make them stand out, but there does need to be a gameplay hook in here. It's a new IP, show us why we should care so much.

P.S 1st post on Gaf, pls don't kill me! Haha.

From my understanding the thermite rifle is flame thing.
What did the laser gun do? I saw it bend a little, but it didn't have any impact?

You know, these types of posts are annoying as fuck. Maybe he actually feels that way about those game. He shared his opinion, and you may not like or agree with it but it is his own. I don't know that poster, I don't know his posting history and I don't give a shit enough to check.

What I do know however is that he said he isn't impressed with what he's seen. He didn't say Sony is garbage. He didn't say the game is shit. He merely said that Sony's first party fails to impress him. I feel that way about Nintendo. Am I a troll because I am not impressed by their offerings as a publisher? No, I'm not.

People are so fucking quick to deride any discussion and call it trolling because it doesn't sit well with them. You know what trolling is? Trolling is a guy like Wotta who writes about games for a living coming in here and saying xbots must be jealous because people didn't like what they've seen here. Or how about that amazing post by Sepp. Those are obvious troll comments. I certainly didn't fake anything. Fuck you for accusing me of doing so, and keep me out of bizarre narratives you wish to twist about those that disagree with you.

Imagine if I treated you the same way. You have a Killzone avatar and an infamous beanie. Must be a Sony shill right? I should lambaste you everytime you're critical of a game that isn't made by Sony, because you must be a troll, correct? No I shouldn't and I won't because that isn't how meaningful discussions happen. But this is NeoGAF dude or whatever other excuse is to be made about the fact that people can't talk games without being labeled as a troll or having some 20ft hard-on for companies that don't really care about them, just their spending power.

I really need to stay in the WrassleGAF thread.

Damn well said and exactly my thoughts as well. We'll never have meaningful discussion if every other post is calling someone out for trolling because their opinion doesn't jive with yours.

I have to admit it is pretty remarkable that someone could write that down and think "Yeah, that's good, I'm gonna pay same people thousands of dollars to say these lines!"

In third person shooters isn't the number one gameplay mechanic the shooting and the feel and function of the guns? I would say this is what we need to look forward to the most, and what will likely set this game apart from other tps. I mean look at that electircy arc gun and the phosphorus/incendiary rounds. You can all say it looks generic and what not but I bet playing the game and killing things with those guns will tell a different story.

Concern trolls are rampant in this thread. I guess now that DriveClub is looking up, The Order will takes it's place as the game to constantly talk shit about no matter what.

Looking good. I'm sure things will change up a bit when the werewolves (assuming from the reveal trailer) are introduced and we see more weapons.

Wow. That was really boring. It was just 45 seconds of him shooting two rockets, 30 seconds of on-rail pistol shooting, then the rest was cutscene. I mean, usually devs choose the most exciting stuff to show off so this really doesn't give me a good impression. Plus, you'd think they would've been wiser after the complaints from the last video...

Good for anyone who likes this stuff I guess, but its just not for me.

Since I'm a fan of TPSs, I've been looking forward to this game ever since it was announced. I was a little worried about it because Ready At Dawn is unproven with a game of this scale and genre.

I think the game looks great. The style is something I dig. I'm still worried about the gameplay though, because I still don't know of anything that's going to set it apart from other shooters. I'm definitely interested and hopeful. The setting is too unique to pass up.

When are they going to show the part where voluntary player input actually matters?

After two "gameplay" reveals I'm getting the distinct impression this is an on-rails action movie simulator inspired by Uncharted and Call of Duty.

Why on earth did they even show this footage? It's not exciting enough to get anybody hyped, and it doesn't really show any of the interesting things they've talked about regarding the game.

I'm curious, considering Sunset Overdrive was basically a copy of Dead Rising 3 mixed with Ratchet and Clank : Tool of Destruction / Crack in Time rail grinding and weaponry, it was shit all over right? For not being innovative? Not being original? Not advancing the industry or advancing the * shoot millions of enemies with different weapons * genre? Right??

hmmm .. weird.

Other than sitting ducks, which is a massively more modern idiom, nothing seems strange to me.
