Can you go into more detail on the 'auction' tournament format? Sounds interesting.

- you have to stick with that character for the whole tournament
- potentially means top-tier characters are excluded if 16 players enter before those characters are pulled out the hat

I feel the same way altho I just have a wiiU, I do plan to buy a 3DS to make sure im gonna get it, but all I can think aobut is that I wish the U version was coming out sooner.

Thanks! Five minutes in and already digging this. I love watching high level tournaments, but it's nice to see a tournament with such a fun and silly amtosphere.

Thanks for the link. Watching the first match on Stadium 2, who the hell picks the custom music? They picked the worst possible remix of G/S Rival ever.
That would be amazing.
Now that Toon Link, Lucario, Ike, and to an extent Charizard, the characters that were "most likely to be cut," have been revealed, I'm hoping Ice Climbers, Lucas, and Wolf are revealed ASAP. They seem to be the characters people are most worried about being cut at this point.
#NoCuts except when necessary, meaning Ivysaur/Squirtle and possibly Snake.

Do people really expect Ice Climbers to get cut? I can see Lucas and Wolf, but ICs have been in since Melee, are the only reps from their series, and we've seen the Polar Bears in Smash Run. No way they're getting cut.

They balanced it out with the amazing SSF2THDR version of Ken's Theme on Pokemon Stadium 1.
They're obviously not getting cut but there's so many pessimists who think the 3DS version can't handle them.

I feel like characters who have been in at least two games are safe. At this point, the only characters in any sort of "danger" are Lucas, Squirtle, Ivysaur, Wolf, and Snake. Everyone else is definitely coming back.

Even though the 3DS can clearly handle Rosalina & Luma. People just aren't thinking.
I'm with Ryce: anyone who's been in more than one game are a lock. People who say Jigglypuff is getting cut are crazy.

That Young Justice kid is adorable and really good!
Minor nitpick regarding Pit
His old Up B definitely wasn't overpowered. Pit couldn't recover after being hit in the midst of it, and there was a delay before he could travel.
His new one looks significantly better.

I'm surprised so many people thought Ike was going to get cut. He has a completely unique moveset. I'll admit I was a little worried because so many people kept saying Ike was so likely to get cut.
I still fully expect a FE:A character. Chrom, Lucina, or Robin are my bets.

Out of curiosity, are there any commentators that are clear favorites for the Invitational? My guess would be that Prog and Wife are both high on the list, but I'm really not too familiar with the commentating scene (outside of the more popular ones).

That'd be a great choice. I wonder what the odds are of actually getting pro smash commentators and not something like that horrendous announcer during Sakurai's match last year. I'm sure they won't do that again...but it still haunts me.

Haha, I can't imagine any Smash player worth their salt was able to watch that unmuted.
Well, imagine four Ice Climbers players with four Double Cherries. You would either have 12 or 16 characters on screen depending on how the cherries worked.
