Watch_Dogs |OT| PS4 would probably melt trying to do this

Someone posted this in a different thread. I hope that in Watch Dogs 2, the developers can add a lot more detail to their world. Watch Dogs looks better but the world isn't as detailed.

Different games focus on different things.

Watch dogs mostly prioritized dynamism and connectivity.

R* prioritizes details and diversity.

Also you know the sequel is going to look better. I have never seen a sequel that looks worse than its predecessor. Even yearly releases look better than the one that came before.

Saw this on reddit.

I would have been shocked if a mention wasn't in. Black Flag had mentions of ctOS. Hope there's more easter eggs throughout the city.

I just reenacted the scene from Person of Interest where Reese destroys a car's engine with a .50 Cal as it's driving towards him.

And it felt good.

You seem to love the game very much, Gaz. You and other people - namely Dennis, made me buy this game.

Can't wait.

Again, not only does it look much better, but the events in the trailer are highly scripted. I bet Ubisoft knew full well that what they were showing wouldn't actually happen in the final product.

What e3 demoes aren't scripted?

Most of the time people are just pretending to play the game as a video rolls bye. And even the ones that are played, they essentially have cheat codes on like god mode. An e3 demo is designed to do multiple things like showing of the premise and gameplay.

Example being the last of us demo, a lot of the things showcased in that demo aren't in the game. You can't wrestle away guns, enemies won't pounce on you, but for the most part a lot of things shown were still in the game.

The same can be said about watch dogs, sure it doesn't visually look like what was shown, but the gameplay is intact. The tone has changed, but after watching interviews, the team has stated they had the idea, before they had created a story. Also, watch dogs demo was in an odd place of it was them showing what they hoped they could do with next gen.

Games change and sometimes a dev team can't deliver everything they wanted. Just go into e3 and say this is what the game will probably be like, if what you are being shown is not linear, and has some degree of openess.

Battlefield, and I believe Infamous SS, does the same thing at times too. I mean on one of the Battlefield 4 maps, Operation Locker, in which the majority of the map is indoors there exist cabinets with glass. The glass cabinets have an impossible reflection of mountains and snow, Every time I see them I want to jump though the magical portal but alas i cannot. I think it's just an oversight. Attention to detail and all that. It could also possibly be resource allocation. I mean everything can't be unique. Not every studio can be a Rockstar when it comes to detail.

Open world games are still pretty new to a lot of developers so I usually give them the benefit of the doubt. Rockstar has been doing open world since early ps2, and a lot of people have high expectations and rockstar understands that and pushes for the best. It stills blows my mind that when I played Table Tennis I never thought id see those types of visuals in a huge open world game. But Rockstar proved me wrong. The issues with ubisoft is they try to push these games out so quick they don't get the care and love a GTA game gets. A lot of these publishers don't understand that some of us would rather wait years for a fantastic game than a kinda fresh game every year.

I've been playing and talking on GAF about this game for like two days straight. When I close my eyes I see Watch Dogs. Hope you don't end up disappointed in the game!

But at what point does being complacent and accepting all of that as just being part of the industry end?

I just go with the flow. Can't say I have ever been to bothered by things in the industry. I just want to play games. I really don't bother with stuff like micro transactions, dlc, graphics, whatever seems to bother some people, etc.

If a game looks interesting I pick it up.

Guess thats just me.

That's a shame.

Oh well, at least I can feel more like Sam Fisher instead.

I was about to say...I felt more like a hacker in Chaos Theory than anything in Watch_Dogs so far. Remember that cool numbers hacking minigame in CT? Yeah, I felt cool doing that. Again, I don't feel anything like that in W_D so far.

Gameblog review: 4/5 - Very Good - 'Must-have' label

The good:

  • The density and content of Chicago
  • Online play in the solo campaign
  • The progression in Aiden's skills
  • The fine blend of hacking, infiltration and action
  • Original online play...

The bad:

  • ...but not deep enough
  • Lackluster scenario
  • Underdeveloped enemy AI
  • Soemwhat generic music and sounds
  • Playing rough sometimes seems to pay better than infiltration and hacking
  • Aiden and his lack of charisma

....what if the game already takes place inside the animus and the ending is just another mindf*ck like AC2....

Absolutely explains why we can see all this info about people with the profiler in mid air - Animus twist secret ending confirmed. AC Unity tie in also confirmed.

Holy shit, wonder how far we are in the future now..

Anyway, I like Assassins Creed storyline and its cool that they kinda share the same universe... I just wish I could get more present day Assassins Creed story/background, instead of trying to get rid of it.

Any impressions of the PS4 version yet? I just wanna hear about the graphics and framerate.

On the fence here.

To sum up most of the summaries of the PS4 version in this long thread - good graphics during the day, exceptional graphics at night and a rock solid framerate that appears to sit at 30 all the time.

^ Difference between a demo that's just showing of organic gameplay and a demo that's completely scripted. Which one seems more interesting to watch and get the crowd hyped up with? It's just the way the industry is. I only have a problem when the final product is NOTHING like the actual demo. Which isn't the case with Watch Dogs fortunately, i'd even wager that the gameplay now is better than in 2012 because they streamlined phone commands and polished the animations.

No no you guys don't get it. Ubisoft aren't a bunch of plebs. Watchdogs will end normally but then after 3 hours of credits the real ending will happen. Aidan will step out of the Animus. Desmond will help him to his feet then he'll be like "how was France?" and Aidan will give him a gruff reply. Then Adian will tap tap a keyboard, some pictures of ACU will flash by, then a spooky pyramid will appear, and link 3 spooky symbols together referencing the next 3 Watch_Dog titles. Aidan will say "Yes now I understand what I have to do." and put on his wrist blade. After that the rest of the credits will roll.

Seriously though, like it or not eventually Watch_Dogs and Assassins Creed will merge stories I can feel it.

I like how batshit that sounds.

I honestly wouldn't mind it. The game looks like fun, but does anyone actually think they'll give a shit about Watch Dogs lore to the point that this scenario wouldn't be worth the lulz?

Is this thing about people with digital uplay copies being able to play the game early true. Some guy on gamefaqs is arguing you can, but is providing no proof...and its gamefaqs...so yeah. I got a NVIDIA code, but its not even in my library. Thought it was just reviewers, retail copies, and pirates on it right now

sorry if this has already been discussed

Glad to hear the positive impressions. This is the game that made me jump to next gen on day one. Can't wait to finally play it after the delay. On my way to Akihabara. Will pick this up for ps4 when I get there.

I love the fact it releases at 12am EST tomorrow night on PSN. I'm PST so that's 3 hours I save waiting. Woot.

I would love for the Assassins to be introduced in the next game. 4 waring factions The Templars, CToS, Assassins and Aidan's newly formed Anarchist/Revolutionary group. Templar and CtoS are allies and deceptively put you, and your group, against the Assassins for the first act. Later you team up and push both out of the city. I really want Aidan to attempt to take down the Templars, but only if he forms a new group. Having him become an Assassin is the lazy way out.

Gamefly is sending me the game. But USPS has been taking forever in sending me stuff. My Wolfenstein still hasn't arrived. At this rate I'll play the game next year.

How could this happen to meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I've made my mistaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaakes

Hope it's more than just stories. would be glorious because the stealth in assassins creed fucking sucks. There are some skyscrapers that need to be scaled. :)
