And I don't think it's fair to ignore Lily Bergamo and Guilty Gear Xrd since both of them are 2014 titles. Sure, they aren't TPS or FPS games, but one of them is an established top tier series within it's genre and the other is a new IP in the barren character action genre.

Diversity is good.

No one is ignoring them but Xrd is on PS3 and probably a better platform to play on if you want a bigger community and already have an arcade stick and as much as I love character action games, I can't get excited for anything from Grasshopper.

Granted Sony haven't really brought a dearth of excellent exclusives so far, the outlook may change after E3 though, who knows.

But there will be plenty of multiplatform games this year to look forward to, and the cross gen games we get will still be superior versions. The difference between BF4 last gen and this gen is just one example.

Anything announced at E3 won't make it this fall. I would say BF4 is the poster child for cross gen really hurting PS4/Xbone games. Sooner it goes away the better so people can get what they paid for and expected out of the new systems.

Well, in the other side without Kinect Sports Rivals launch delay, Sunset Overdrive would have been the first MS game of 2014 in September.

You didn't see Titanfall?

MS without or Without KSR had a decent 2014 lineup. (if the rumours are to be believed)

PvZ Garden Warfare (Timed)
Titanfall
Sunset Overdrive
Forza Horizon 2
Halo 2 Anniversary
Halo 5 Beta

The Order made sense in August before Destiny , once that couldn't be hit I think it made the decision to go beyond the holidays easier. In general I don't think enough people will care of this game launches in February rather than November because they will be too busy buying "next gen" consoles for the newest AC, COD, BF SWAT, Far Cry, Batman, NBA2K, Destiny, and Evolve possibly if it scratches a Left 4 Dead itch. The holiday is completely stacked at this point and may get even more stacked after E3, shoving an original IP in that mix could be sending it to die. Something Sunset Overdrive will have to contend with also, and honestly wouldn't surprise me if that slipped out of this year.

I can see a similar situation with Tales of Vesperia. Capcom will regret it, but I would not be surprised if they did something stupid.

I highly doubt Vesperia's budget was anywhere near what a DD2 would cost to produce, not to mention porting between PS4 and Xbone is a lot more straightforward than going between PS3 and 360 was.

Also, consider Vesperia's exclusivity in the context of what else MS was spending at that time, where's the Lost Odyssey equivalent?

Can't wait to start the list war can you? Ok, ok, you win.

Why would the Xbone all of a sudden overtake PS4 because of this delay. I don't get some people. The price drop will close the gap, but it's not like either console has loads of exclusives coming out this year. Come on.

I'm sure the extra wait for cinematic third-person shooter # 842319 will be grueling for all the video game consumers out there. It's not like there are any alternatives to such a highly obscure and scarce genre.

Oh man, I'd totally buy a x1 for tales of vesperia 2!

Will it ever get a sequel? Would it's sequel have to be MS exclusive?

Titanfall and PvZ aren't Microsoft games and are multi platform.

Outside of the Tomb Raider and TLoU ports, what cinematic third-person shooters on PS4 or XBO are shipping this year?

Well, in the other side without Kinect Sports Rivals launch delay, Sunset Overdrive would have been the first MS game of 2014 in September.

We're talking about Sony, they gave their console the strongest exclusive support last gen and really made their 1st parties shine in the last few years. These "dark years" (2012/2014) with extraordinary weak support will be problematic if it goes on.

My bad I figured we were talking console exclusivity. Then yeah, Sunset overdrive would have been the first.

Titanfall was the system seller with or without exclusivity, It was the reason to buy a Xbox One earlier on.

and dont forget counting a beta lol. Has a beta even been announced?

Leaked along with all the other stuff (You see the part were I said "if the rumours are to be believed"

I included it because for some it's a sales point. Getting their first chance to play Halo 5 multiplayer in 2014 is something interesting.

Let's hope TLOU remaster do not push back accordingly.
Also Witness, another big one I want to play so bad.

I'm starting to feel skeptical on the Witness releasing this year, actually.

And anyway, I highly doubt we'll hear ND push back. With the exception of TLoU, they're masters at hitting their release timings, and I can't see them not hitting summer when they've already committed their word to it.

Anything announced at E3 won't make it this fall. I would say BF4 is the poster child for cross gen really hurting PS4/Xbone games. Sooner it goes away the better so people can get what they paid for and expected out of the new systems.

Not really. It depends on the publisher/strength of the IP brand.

The problem for Sony is that they've pretty much exhausted all their established IPs that they can 'announce and release within the year.'

GT was last year. Ratchet was last year. GoW was last year. Killzone was last year. Uncharted is already announced.

Pretty much only LBP and TLG are left in terms of games that can afford to be announced and released within the same year.

That is only because of the cross gen games. Take those out and well it is wasteland. To be honest I could careless about 99% of the cross games. I buy next gen systems day 1 to play games take advantage of them. Basically we will get knack ,drive club and killzone in year 1 from sony that makes me shake my head. They should of moved a few of those last year PS3 games to the PS4. This generation was 3 years late there is no excuse to not have software yet they had a long time to plan this out.

Same for the beginning of last gen, though. At least on 360, the only non-cross gen games were Condemned, CoD2, Amped 3, Kameo, PDZ and PGR3. Plus the cross gen games are a lot better than last gen's, which was mainly full of sport titles.

PS3's non-cross gen launch games: Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom, Ridge Racer 7, Resistance, Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire and Genji.

So I'll say PS4 had a solid launch, not in terms of exclusives but quality of games. Same for Xbox One, although Condemned is a GOAT launch title.

people are over estimating the interest in Order 1866. 99% of the moms and kids doesn't even know that this game exist. The fact Sony has a bad Mktg helps a lot when there are delays. No one knows that this game is supposed to come this year and no one will care when it doesnt come.

Every one is simply buying PS4 because it plays COD, BF4 at a better frame rate than Xbone. That is all it is to it. They just need to make sure Madden, FIFA etc play better on PS4 and they will be all set.

Was it? Is it even the best selling XBO game? Did it even outsell KZ?

To make things worse, the insiders have been scarily quiet save for the news that The Order was going to be delayed. This might be the opening lines for a bad E3 for Sony.

I think we left behind the Titanfall system seller argument after last NPDs.

Nah, it probably has more to do with the projet beast leaks. If they don't tease and something esle leaks it will not be confirmed asap like beast souls was.

Well, 4 major titles in a year ain't awful, just post-launch.
As I said earlier, it was a poor timing for many studios too, because they just released stuff (ND, MM, SSM, PD come to mind).

Titanfall and PvZ aren't Microsoft games and are multi platform.

Well and SO isn't either. They don't even have the IP. MS Studios output is rather flimsy. F5, KSR and KI. Nothing on the horizon apart from maybe Halo remake. Although I guess people have higher expectations when it comes to Sony's 1st party.

I honestly didn't even realise The Order had a release date. I thought that would be the news at E3, out of the loop I guess. Good news that it's not too far away.

Maybe I worded that wrong. I don't think Titanfall was a system seller. I didn't play it after week 2 and no one I know did. It sold relatively weak for all the hype.

But pre launch to MS and lots of other people Titanfall was going to be THE SHIT it was hyped up all over. It failed terribly but it was a reason to give a shit about they system

Forgot to add the most excellent dead rising, gears of war and saints row 1. I am sure there were other games to.

I would say fight night round 3 blows away every single cross generation this time around and it is not even close.

Hmm, it could go either way. The PS4 audience is dying for a good fighting game and it could convince people to get a PS4 since all upcoming games will be on PS4. I think it'll have more PS3 players in the beginning though. Especially since BBCP, Persona 4 Arena sequel, and UNiB are all on PS3.

I'm giving Grasshopper the benefit of the doubt because I always loved the "extended human body" concept and artstyle is great. It should be at E3 if it's still scheduled for 2014, so we should see some gameplay footage. Believe!
