I appreciate that they are doing something artistic and different, not the same cookie cutter concepts (or just teaser concept because sm will end up doing something completely different) we are getting lately. I do think that the pink tape concept was more solid and interesting, but i'll take this over sexy concept after concept. Don't get me wrong, I can (and also do) enjoy that, but this is so refreshing...
I mean:
I also think that a key factor for this generalized hype is that they have consistently released great music since Nu Abo.
What makes them "an exaggerated artsy attempt"? I'm not sure who the photographer for these is but SM has employed multimedia artists and photographers in the past for f(x) teasers and other groups (Like Shinee) who are artists in their own right and bring their own unique styles to the teasers. For example Hasisi Park's work for f(x) in the past.

Thank god we're on a new page, that page felt like a triple Feist megapost... my computer, all of it's 8 cores and 8GB of RAM was suffering like a fat pig.
Anyway, to catch up...
New f(x)? Hell yes! I wanna get excited thanks to the teasers but I've been burned bad enough by Pink Tape's teasers so I'm gonna temper my expectations until release. They are interesting, to say the least.
And that Hye-sun/Ailee thing I mentioned before... my waifu definitely doesn't emote that much in her songs, but check out her English covers in the various Immortal Songs... glorious is all I can say. I'm pretty sure J Rabbit's indie factor is letting them do pretty much whatever they want with their music, whereas Ailee has some restrictions for better or worse.

Did she really though? Hyomin isn't solo material at all.
Sunmi was the last person I would have ever thought would be solo material back in the day but her concept/music/choreo has been on point.
Because Sunmi wasn't solo material back in the day. She's been out of the group and trained with the express purpose of a solo debut assumedly for awhile. That's pretty different to members of idol groups doing solo activities as cash grabs in between promotion periods.
Luna teasers so good, probably the most underrated member of f(x).
Luna has always looked pretty consistently good imo, but she seems to get overlooked a lot. I really liked her shots for Pink Tape.

It's also nice to hear an Ulala Session song with Lim Yoon Taek again, since this was recorded before he passed away
The photos aren't bad, for example Luna ones are great, while many of Krystal's photos looks just a mess, it's because its for a (k-)pop release, and because the real concept will most likely not be related to these photos, if so, what's the point to have those photos, just for the eyecandy?

Not bad but I agree, Jiyeon > Hyomin (I mean the song).
What's the point of any art? I mean would you prefer they just stood around in their stage outfits on plain backgrounds or something? I appreciate that SM is doing something different and getting artists involved in the process, it's way more interesting than the alternative.
These photos are usually used extensively on the packaging and booklets as well.
I still don't see why they seem like an exaggerated attempt at art.
