I saw that. After seeing Bananaken vs Matoi at Evo, I'd rather his Kokonoe than LK's.

I wonder why he chose LK.

LK's got more experience in this kind of situation, at least based on my limited knowledge and LK speaks Japanese so it'd be easier to network with JP players so they can practice.

FChamp had an interesting point about one of Dormammu's negatives. People can afford to blow x-factor to kill his Magneto, since with Dorm's big hitbox he'll have a hard time avoiding the incoming mixup.

That goes for any big body character. Dorm has an air dash so he has a possibility of escaping unlike the other big bodies besides sent.

I mean, if it's zero or Vergil, you're probably gonna get hit anyway but excluding those two, dorm and sent got it easier than the other big men.

Just because LK lost to Crazy Ape doesn't mean Crazy Ape or Pops are the better players. I've already seen enough people on twitter complaining about the pick and I've seen enough people explain why it's probably the best pick he can make.

I've been holding out spending the $ on the ultra upgrade on PS3 since the PC will be coming up shortly.

But fuck it. It'll just be me and a case of beer tonight so I'm going to download it.

I'm not very good at SF4 but if you want to play I'll probably be on around 7 CST until who knows. I'll be getting progressively worse as the night goes on. PSN:

I was counting the minutes until your reply.

Also, I was making a joke. I have no issues with SG's choice.

Isn't Pops a pad player? It wouldn't make sense for him to go. Maybe Banana Ken has school is the reason he can't go

BananaKen is in graduate school getting his PhD. Which means he could've gone if asked.

I figured but I wanted to say something anyways because it's been all over the place today. I know you don't like me but there's actual things to talk about here so I'll talk about them *shrug*

I truly wish more people believed this. Tiers and tech are helpful as part of your overall toolset, but nothing replaces simply outplaying your opponent.

You'd be surprised how many people are not honest with themselves and blame their losses totally on tier lists and not their bad play and decision making.

This to the greatest degree. I body Sagat's and Juri's on the regular and that's suppose to be a horrible matchup for Gief. Surely its difficult, but not impossible. You just gotta outplay your opponent.

Ok cool I also beat pocket or mid level Kenshi's and Bane's with Kitana and Catwoman, both considered to be terrible matchups. I win bad matchups all the time. Yet I struggle to win games against my local top Bane. It's horrible. I almost never beat him at our weekly tournament. I guess I just need to level up?

I agree with the basic concept that players, especially mid to low level, are quick to blame matchups and tiers. However the idea that they don't matter is a fantasy.

People like to pretend that they have control that they really don't.

I wish it was true that tiers and matchups don't matter.
MKX's character variations seems like it would do a nice job at giving characters more tools to deal with bad matchups, should help character loyalists like you a lot. Unless you decide to be a variation loyalist too. ;p

The thing I'm looking forward to when GGXrd coming out over here and everyone being over hyped on it and shitting on BB is the moment when those same people get their dreams crushed by Faust and Zato

Yeah it's exciting. I'll definetely be a character specialist but use all 3 variations.

All I can say is that after EVO if anyone streams Blaz Blue I am watching. I need to learn this game.
There's a Team Stickbug tonight.
Arturo's streaming it.

I'm sure the systems will work in Bridget's favor, and it'll be easy enough to deal with them.
Mahouko for best Xrd.

From what I played of it, I don't see it working out the way you are imagining it.

Just let the dreamer keep on dreaming. I'm still waiting to get my ass kicked in Xrd. Since it will be my first Guilty Gear game even though I do play a fair amount of anime games. What's the overall impression of Bedman?

I lable him as a pretty solid hybrid character. You kind of fish around for a set up with his projectles. Once that's going around you can start to fuck with people. His 8 way air dash is fairly unique, you do a double jump input *but only for half a second press any longer and he just goes up* which makes him float after that you press the direction you want him to go. He has a crazy fast walk speed but his forward dash is REALLY bad imo. It's basically a full screen dash not a run.

His normals are a little wonky and take some getting used to and his combos have some pretty strict restrictions on what works and when from what I could tell. But basically once you get a set up going with him you can literally go ham.

This has some good bedman footage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvJ4I2l3470

One thing I like about Marvel is it's not too dependent on matchups, unless you play Haggar.
Match ups matter it's just team vs team rather than character vs character. Haggar will lose to Magneto 1 on 1 but if it's 3 characters and one of them is Haggar versus solo Magneto then that is almost as bad as 3 characters (one being Magneto) versus Haggar. Magneto can't rush down a Haggar on his own terms and in that sense Haggar is excellent at maintaining a life lead because of Lariat.

Also my statement about "skill is everything" was a half joke... it wasn't meant to be taken seriously. It was a joke from DOTA 2 when Alliance's Loda said "Kills Mean Nothing, Towers mean nothing.... Throne Means Everything." which is also a meme that came from Batman Begins "Training is nothing... will is everything".

Of course match ups/tiers matter however I still feel skill is the most important factor in pretty much all competitive games.

Ok.... Well I was speaking about Street Fighter. I don't know how balanced characters are for other games. Of course some match ups that suck so not much you can do about it but I was speaking more among the lines if there is a will, there is a way. Now if the matchup is 9-1, which sounds like it is in your case, I wouldn't insult your intelligence or reads, just insult the game's balance.
