Titanfall still fun!!

I agree with OP

It's still a blast. New maps are great, new modes are fun and the new features really add to the game. Burn card black market, custom titans and players etc.

I think this is the first console shooter where I don't care about K/D ration, or how many points I score. I just care about having fun, that's it.

Have to check back in a month to see if I'm still having as much fun as I am right now.

I bought it a few days ago and have already played 8 hours. But I wanna play CTF more - apparently no-one else does! So I just play hardpoint

Own it on PC and haven't picked up the DLC because I'm worried nobody else has it (on PC). Nothing more frustrating than buying dead DLC. I really wish MS offered the player count like COD so I could have an idea if it is as small a base as it seems from my anecdotal evidence. Luckily from what I hear the DLC is pretty uninspiring barebones map-packs which is too bad for those of us that hoped it would be a chance to fill out the game a bit. I do have it on XB1 also (gifted), but FPS's and controllers are something I prefer not to use unless I have to. Looking forward to the sequel and hopefully a more meaty game or at the very least a real single-player mode.

See I disagree. As a new player to the game and a long time UT player, I think the game feels more like UT or Quake than COD.

I didn't stop to ADS with a shock rifle in UT though. 80% of the time the fight ends the same way they would in CoD: With someone standing still or crouching while aiming.

Found myself bored to death by it after 10 horus according to Origin. This thread actually made me install it again. Hopefully it's more fun now.

I have had Titanfall for a month or two. For the first 30 hours of gameplay I was convinced that it is an amazing game. But, at around 30 hours I started to get bored. Don't get me wrong, I still think it is/was a really good game. I just think I will tone it down a little and wait for Destiny.

Yes, i felt the game was more UT than CoD, but marred by ADS. I thought the player movement would benefit from the removal of that mechanic in favour of pure aiming.

That's just me though and was a major factor, alongside matchmaking and no server ownership/community, which meant i slept on a purchase of the game.

I've been playing a lot of X1 lately because once Destiny hits (my PS4) the X1 will be hibernating for months after.

I've been playing Titanfall and PvZ Garden Warfare. I stopped both about a month after they came out and returning to them has been fantastic. Titanfall seems to be more balanced. The new game modes don't really blow up my skirt but the game in general is more fun now than when it launched. At $25 currently you'd be crazy not to try it.

PvZ shocked me when it came out by being waaaay better a game than I expected. The engine and gameplay are rock solid. Playing it now there's been tons of stuff added for free. Characters, game types, weapons, maps, you name it.

Good times!

Lol, of course it is. I still play it at LEAST once a week, and more recently every day at lunch time, I'm so glad it exists. And I'm still having trouble getting over how awesome the controls (and everything else) are. It's so unlike anything. Amazing job Respawn, can't stress it enough <3

I can understand the pleas for more content when compared to other games and their millions of unlockables and cosmetic customization, but it's not something that personally affects me. If the gameplay is good, i'll just keep playing forever. And I haven't even touched anything other than Attrition mode in TF, so I don't even want other modes or anything.

And the fact it has regenerating health. game needs more guns that you can change on the fly to be an arena shooter. Instead its cod with poorly implemented arena mechanics. Its up there with Rome 2 with biggest PC regrets for me.

I mean really, there's something to be said about a game where you're having as much fun regardless if you're winning or losing.

The whole game just feels like a chain of fun actions, and even managing to escape in your dropship feels like winning, even though, technically, if you have to do it it means you've lost the match :p

I still play the game regularly, don't own any map packs as I never really buy them unless I have a huge reason to.

it has flaws but for a mindless shooter to play for an hour or two at a time I enjoy it.

The rampant incompetent players on my team make it unfun.
This is why I stopped playing it. Or even the rampant incompetent players on the enemy team.

With so many people playing the game poorly, anyone that takes just a little bit of time to learn the mechanics will absolutely dominate and the game becomes unfun without any real challenge.

The scoreboard at the end of almost every game showed pretty much 1 or 2 people carrying the entire team, with the other 4-5 being dead weight.
Call of Duty rewards the carriers with killstreaks, which many people find entertaining enough. Titanfall has no such thing, since everyone gets a Titan.

Also, Challenges suck and are completely unfun. They ruin the dynamics of team-based play.

With all that, I still greatly enjoyed the 100 hours I spent with Titanfall and it's still my second favorite game I've played this entire year (Not counting TLoU: R). The long term appeal just isn't there, though.

I initially felt badass, like I was racking up kills and doing well, but then I realized all the guys I was killing were just bots. Bots that stand there and I am in little to no danger of being killed by.

I "Titanfell" back into this game 3 weeks ago and haven't looked back. It's the best MP shooter released in a very long time in my opinion and I really hope people have given it enough time...I thought I was done at lvl 26...Two and a half weeks later, I am on the edge of Gen 3 and having an absolute blast...

Do the new maps appear on the regular playlists if all the players have the maps?
Yes, if all players have the maps then it will cycle them into your rotation. My group generally plays "Variety Pack" and are put in new maps with the same frequency as any other map.

That's great to hear! I hope it doesn't repeat the old maps too much.

Dunno man, recently I've been getting matched into quite a few extremely competitive matches where everyone knows how to play extremely well. Those are, of course, the best.

EDIT: Ah - things have matured considerably since then IMO. A lot more people skiing and using wall jumps effectively to evade getting shot rather than standing still.

My experience is from playing on PC during the first 3 weeks after launch (and the Beta, of course). I haven't touched it since then.

I'm not disappointed in the game, though. I got what I wanted out of it, I'm the sort of person that moves on from game to game without lingering on any one thing for too long, anyway.

It mostly lived up to the hype for me, but I could still rattle off a laundry list of complaints I had about my time with it. So, the sequel should be the best thing ever, right?

Going into TF as a big mech fan, the lack of unique feature for each Titan Chasis was a big let down to me. I was hoping for each titan to have its own unique weapon/ordenance/tatical abilities since they were advertised to have completly different roles. I guess they decided not to do that so the game is easier to balance.

Other than that, I still enjoy TF a lot. Nowadays I play it more often on XBONE than PC due to better MM, I just don't see myself playing TF for over 200 hours compare to BF3/4 and teamfortess though.

Titanfall is hella fun. My issue is the servers.
I don't know how it is on X360/one, but the last time I played on PC I was waiting for ppl to join the lobby for about 5m. Its not just one or two or three times. Its always like this.

Other than that, I really enjoy it a lot! If it wasn't because of the server issue I would purchase the season pass.

But they do. Especially when you're core ability is charged. Playing in an Ogre is not remotely close to playing in a Stryder. Ogres soak damage, Stryders avoid getting hit in the first place and are great for quick hit and run attacks on the flank, while Atlas titans are of course the general purpose damage dealers. A skilled pilot in any titan can beat any other titan of course, but it depends on what type you like to play. I always roll with a Stryder myself, since I find the flanking ability great for dividing the attention of enemy titans from the main group.

Is the PC community still around and about?

Yes.

Boom! Bitch-slapped!
I double dipped but play it mostly on X1 occasionally with the Brehs. Marked for Death was a great addition to the game, I hope it stays given all the positive feedback it has received.

Fwiw - there are a number of matchmaking changes coming up in (what should be) the next patch that are meant to help frustrating situations like what you're seeing, and others. It's in testing now and we'll be tweaking it once it's live.

I tried to get back into it, but the PC version is completely dead (by my guess) based on me never being put into a match.

Edit: Maybe everyone's on the DLC. Not interested, personally.

Edit 2: Above may be an answer to my problem. Already uninstalled it though :(

Got bored of it 24 hours in. Complete lack of content makes it boring.
A 5-10 hour SP campaign would have kept you playing Titanfall for weeks/months on end? A few more maps? Some cute decals for your Titan? What?

If the core gameplay is solid, people won't get bored. Look at Counter-Strike: People still just play de_dust2. Like 10+ years later, people are still playing the same map, with the same spawn locations, same bomb sites, same weapons, and everything. Just with better graphics.

When people say they got bored with Titanfall because of "lack of content", I just see a demand for more window dressing and gimmicks. Which they would quickly get bored of, too.

For longevity, I think Titanfall could have used a playlist that gave you access to all unlocks and used a skill-based ranking system. The objective and elimination gametypes are already intense as hell, and Respawn would have benefited from actually pushing that esports angle.

*Sigh* Maybe Titanfall 2.

I have it on PC. Just bought it and the season pass a couple months ago. I had some issues finding campaign games but I've never had an issue finding games super quick on MP attrition. I actually think having the DLC is why I get games so quick. I've seen the new maps a lot now. Seems to be a pretty active community.

I love the game on PC.
