Koji Igarashi's new game teased during MN9 panel at PAX?

This is great, looks like a true "Castlevania", missed those since OoE.

Now watch it being a mobile title.

Bloodyvania! I didn't even notice the Castlevania looking screens when Jose tweeted it. Those actually looks really cool. I just thought it was something about witches or Slipknot. LOL

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of this and I got $100+ for Iga if it's on Kickstarter.

IGA: Being 100% honest, we'll be focusing on those fans who primarily are on the console and are looking for console experiences or your traditional handhelds. Those are the people that we're going to focus on first and foremost. If I get to a position where I absolutely have to do mobile like the rest of everyone else due to funding issues, then I'll do what I have to to survive.

Hot damn, I expected Iga to take a lot longer to start actual development, let alone tease the his game. So ready for that shit!

Of course it's not Castlevania, Konami has the rights for the series. But really, Aria of Sorrow starts in a Japanese temple and the main character is Japanese (unlike the translated version would have you believe).

And that just touches on a lot of what I loved and hated about the "Sorrow" series.

For Aria of Sorrow to have gone on the tangent it went, it could have effectively been a brand new IP telling an all-new story and utilizing an entirely different setting that was farther removed from the Castlevania mythos. Or at least, it could've taken advantage of that 2035+ AD setting better than it did. Beyond the likes of perhaps the Positron Laser (though goofy/anachronistic weaponry certainly isn't unusual to CV), you could easily forget it was supposed to be in the future.

If anything, I felt like being bound by the CV storyline was a thing that limited what the Sorrow series could have done. Perhaps whatever this new game IGA's making could be a second chance at that.

Those "screens" are displayed on old Sony Trinitron CRTs... So can we assume this Would be a non-handheld affair?

So we got a European village with clock tower, and a Japanese garden area with terraces... Anything notice anything else in the "screens"?

So we have:

not-Megaman
not-Megaman Zero
not-Final Fantasy

And now not-Castlevania?

I'm happy to abandon classic franchises, now that they've been drained of all life, if it means we get new games under new IPs that are closer to being true sequels. Better that than games that are related to the classics in name only.

Has there been ANY attempt to translate those runes into something more readable? I'm disappointed that there doesn't appear to be any code-crackin' going on!

"yeah, that is going to be the game on the Ultra 64."

What does that quote mean? Is it just supposed to be a joke line or something? Obviously, we all know that the Ultra 64 became renamed the Nintendo 64. Is this a hint at a console? Obviously not the n64, but is this a hint that the game is coming to Nintendo?

I am really excited about this game. It will probably another metroidvania without the castlevania name. Kinda sucks that he had to leave Konami =/.
Why? We wouldn't get this (potential) game if it weren't for it, Konami's shit and it'll be a long time before they touch the Castlevania's IP again, if ever, and even then it's quality would be far from guaranteed. Iga was just kinda sitting there nowadays, Konami would probably never give him a relevant project ever again, and that's why he left, the suits from that company don't give a shit about anything or anyone that isn't Metal Gear or Kojima. I'm actually really glad he left, I was just waiting for it to happen since it was basically inevitable.
