Well seeing as the thread is decending into madness now is probably the best time to post this. PC Gamer's website just got a bit of a make over and a feature I haven't seen in a while has returned, Show Us Your Rig, where they have a Dev or someone in the industry to show off their set up. This instalment features Josh Sawyer from Obsidian (Icewind Dale, New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity). Might seem modest to some folks but Sawyer definitely knows what's up when it comes to displays, keyboards and mice.

you can't be serious... or are you?

That was interesting, nothing mindblowing (in hardware department), but section of his favourite games is rather shocking. That's the first time I see Darklands mentioned as someones favourite game, I think, at least in modern times (><)

I saw the Borderlands Banner and went
"Steamos? Why the hell is that in spanish"
Then I realized it meant SteamOS. Summon forgot you aren't supposed to capitalize it all.

Of course. Dell don't make that many bad monitors and a U2412M was a corker for its price. At the time the WFP line of monitors offered best in class colour accuracy. Though asides from being bright they ran stupidly hot and sitting front of just one for the better half of a day in a stuffy office was almost enough to cook you alive!

Plus I've seen some of the awful monitors you lot use. It's the main component that displays what you're playing and more often than not folks cheap out on a monitor.

Right now the Dell U2414H is one of the better 24" you can buy.

STEAM | October 2014 - Can Uplay now?

Hehehe, well done. #Scrap or Improve Uplay

I'm actually cool with Origin these days, and I support GOG Galaxy, but not Ubisoft's concoction.

Going to organise some more DOTA2 this weekend. If we don't get enough for a full 5v5 GAF game, we'll roll as a stack and hopefully do better than last time.

Earlier time this week!

With all the Alien Isolation and Evil Within hype. Mostly everyone forgot about The Legend of Korra.

I didn't! It's the game I'm most hyped for next month.

"We've been playing some Tribes at work but, unfortunately, I'm no good at it anymore."
Sad.

He has an eclectic taste in games and would fit right in SteamGAF. You're right those do seem rather modest to me. That keyboard, talk about a blast from the past.

Anyone has recommendations for conquest games? I want to have a map with different areas and I want to conquer them one by one. This can be a risk-like game, something deeper like the Total War games or even something like Saints Row IV. I just want to conquer shit.

Games I already have: Risk: Factions, Total War Games, Divinity: Dragon Commander, Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron, Crusader Kings 2.

Sounds like you should diverse into 4x games. Explore and colonize planets, research tech trees, build armadas, take over enemy planets, get sideswiped by alien tech you didn't prepare for, negotiate, re-build, destroy!

If that sounds like your thing, let me/us know. The easy recommendations would be stuff like Galactic Civilizations but there are many other options.

If I was to buy a monitor let's say tomorrow Dell wouldn't even be considered!
My fist choice would be ViewSonic (pro series), then would go NEC or Eizo.
I wouldn't even let you to call my Samsung plasma awful, but that's not really a monitor, I only use it as one.

nope, not buying that

I hate the '2nd chance' QTE in Mordor, just let me die and respawn from my base yeesh.
Put some more hours into the game and seem to have cleared 25% of the non-combat collectables.

Enjoying the game and despite it's simple concept it's a GotY contender for me.

Lol. Ah well, I can't blame the programmers working there, they are doing their jobs. Stuff pops up all the time and delays happen.

I can, however, blame the business managers working there, because "doing their job" means purposefully degrading consumer experience in order to advance Ubi's interests

I love the thin bezel on them but at launch they had a bug where connection over Display Port would show up as a TV not a monitor as you would expect. Now on Nvidia cards this would do the stupid thing and switch the RGB colour space to limited but being Display Port even Durante's tool would sort it out. Don't know if that's been addressed but it was the reason I passed up on one. AMD has the ability to change your colour space setting in the driver but Nvidia still haven't last time I poked around Colour Management.

All depends on your use case I suposse but considering I do colour critical work day in day out I'm not touching a ViewSonic or NEC with a barge pole unless I want to get the sack. And no way would I pay Ezio tax for what they offer.

Sure a plasma TV offers great static contrast levels that you'll only get with a VA monitor but the input latency on some TV's is just hideous that the make most IPS panels look lightning quick. Then again as I've lamented before the perfect all round display just doesn't exist... yet.

True, but they will never listen to us, it's a business after all, same with Valve or any other big company in many different cases. You just have to hope that the guys developing try to ease the pain for everyone.

Pretty much every question in the forums have their Community Manager trying to appease everyone, I feel bad for the guy but there's so much work to be done if they want people to stop complaining.

Anyone beaten Mordor yet? How long did it take you? Seems like if you do SOME of the side stuff it'd take you around 10ish hours or less?

Today I got to know that Dell, I have no trust in with reasons, is favourite of steamgaf?
The more you know... less you like it. (><)

I'm about ten hours in and just got to the second area. Relatively little side activities other than messing around with the nemesis system.

Isn't that just video content and not 3D content which has always been the issue? It's been something people have been nagging and nagging Nvidia about for years that I would have thought they'd have made a big some and dance about it.

Now that I think about it...there's this big door at the south of the map
It opens up to another a new area I take it?

You guys should try the new Wendy's Pulled Pork Cheeseburger. It taste pretty good for a fast food place.

Go hit up some shawarma or doner kebab instead, bro

Ah, you are correct. There seems to be some workarounds.

The kerning on that Borderlands 2 banner is way to tight.

COMING TO STEAMOS!

That's because that is what is says and how it is written. Even Valve don't seem to sure on how to pronounce it. SteamOs breakfast cereal or John Stamos are my favourites while valve have used both Steam O S and SteamOS (similar to DOS). I like them all, they make me giggle

I'm even not sure how to react to this, seriously, Viewsonic pro series monitors calibrate admirably even for CMYK, grey balance too for years, to the point of being the best for their price and other monitors not even worth considering for any colour sensitive work. Oh well, that's not really steam related talk anyway, so we can stop now. And I'm pretty sure that we are too set in our ways for discussion to change anything. ;)

Hahah so come on then why don't you like Dell? Is a company wide thing or just their monitors?

Ya company, or brand to be more precise, don't know much about company aside of couple of stunts that were pure comedy gold.

I had one the other day. It's pretty good, but it would be better without the coleslaw.

I wish I knew where to get pork buns. I am not a whole man.

Also, I need to finish Sleepy Dogs one of these days.

Valve missed a real opportunity to name their OS GLaDOS. If Microsoft can put Cortana on Windows phones...

You can pretty much go to any Chinese buffet or asian supermarket. They're very easy to find.
