The OP was having connection issues like 13 hours before PSN went down. That was unrelated to what's going on right now. That was his/her own specific problem. Check the times of the posts.

OP you're going to need to wait for dust to settle on this then check your status then re-post if still an issue I fear.

It is a real downer. Before people say I'm overreacting this is why.
This was a day one £400 console. I work 50-60 hours a week with 3 children. 2 are disabled. So barely play it. My wife could see I was shattered so bought me fifa 15 and called my boss to say I'm not coming in. I wake up with an empty house, a note explaining she's out for the day and to enjoy my ps4 for once. And brilliant, the network is down.

It those lizard fucks again? I thought they said they were done DDoSing. I noticed their twitter page got suspended too. An outage like this without Sony saying anything prior means it wasn't meant to go down. Those fools claimed to have brought down Destiny a couple days ago too I think.

Wait, so I remember the outrage about MS wanting to do this and Sony actually did it and no one said anything? This is the first time it's down like that but I cannot launch any game or app right now (all my games are digital).

I have been having PSN issues as of yesterday morning like 3 am EST it has been sporadic with the PSN letting me sign in and use it then booting me I gave up at about 5am (10/1/2014). I pick up Shadow of Mordor today and play it fine no issues till about 7 pm
I take a nap and get up at 3 am and the PSN is doing the same exact thing so my problem is the same as the OP. I don;t however know if anyone else has had the same issues so maybe the thread did get jacked idk I feel though most people are OT.

Go to settings, network, and uncheck 'connect to internet'. I'm able to play digital games without a connection.

Me too. So I settled on a bit of Resogun and guess what? I blitzed my previous best of 35mil and got 90mil. Also finished it on experienced level and got the 1cc trophy.
But cos psn is down I can't see where I am on the leaderboards! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! It better register that new score when it finally connects or I will have a fit.

Down for maintenance in UK it seems (that's what it said when I tried the PSN Store). So Destiny is down too for PS4 players. Bungie have a note up saying they're aware of problems so this doesn't seem scheduled.

Is your PS4 set as the primary system for your account? Otherwise you can't play digital games offline.

It is, I never had this problem before. I have 3 accounts and even on my primary account everything is locked.

So just to confirm the only game that's playable for me right now is the only game I own on disc, Yakuza Ishin. All the rest of my digital games are locked.
So is this shit for the players? I can wait as I just wanted to watch some shows in Netflix but I absolutely had no idea this shit could happen for offline games too.

When you're offline, none of the categories on the XMB display their content, no trophies, no profile, no store, no friends, no messages, no game icons, it's scary how in-your-face useless the console becomes in this state without the internet, at least the ps3 didn't look so empty on OS level, you could still look at your trophies, messages and listen to music and watch videos stored on the hdd.
It doesnt for me, i never have issues with my games on my primary ps4. Im signed in on ps4 in the uk have been all morning plenty on destiny and on my firends lists.
Restoring licenses may help

Before this outtage my account was set as primary, I could play all my games with my other psn ID' too.
Will try to restore licenses when the servers are back up but this is scary.

Some maintenance was definitely planned for SOE maybe it is related to this downtime as well.
This. It's a forsaken desert. I would at least expect a cache to display something when connection is lost...
I hope this issue gets sorted out soon... even the browser verison of the store isn't loading for me.

I thought you could access all content on your console so long as it was set as the primary?
Hope restoring licences fixes it, understandable what you'd be scared. I'd probably be freaking out as well...
Happened for me once on christmas PSN outage with Battlefield 4. Couldn't accsess the game even though I was playing on my primary account. Restoring license helped.
Locked out myself too.
Got my console set up perfectly, share the account with my brother where we download games and pay half each but get 2 copies for the price of half of one.
No matter how its set up this SHOULD'NT be happening.

My brother was on Destiny this morning and was having serious lag issues and now nothing. I think it's a DDoS or some sudden unforseen fuck up.
And just to add I am the primary account holder on my PS4 with PSN+. My brother could play this morning fine. But now none of the accounts work, including mine.

I've been trying to add the DRIVECLUB-GAF tag but it times out, PSN US is not connecting for me now. Haven't tried my UK account.

The funny thing about this is, my ps4 is not my primary. I share account with my little brother but I am able to play all my games except for Pier solar hd, and destiny. I can load velocity, TLOU and others. Really weird because it says I can't connect to servers right now.
