If QLOC is porting wouldn't they go the extra mile to unlock it, as they did with RE4?

Yeah, it could well be that it would be easier to offer a 30 FPS mode and a separate 60 FPS mode than unlocking it completely.ID Tech 5 is very particular about how it handles framerates. The console versions of Rage and Wolf both would dynamically lower the screen resolution to maintain framerates. It's no simple thing to unlock.

No comment, basically. But at least they're cool people over there.
It isn't an ideal answer but at least they're feeling the pressure.Calling them out huh?
Edit: "working" on just being able to give technical info? Dude.....what, i really hate this industry.

Yea. My money is floating in my Steam Wallet but I need closure. It better be before the point of no return for pre-order refunds, otherwise it's still fucked.
Devs capping framerates on PCs is just poor business decision. People pay for hardware to get as much performance as they possibly can afford. You should give PC gamers the option to cap framerates (because there are very good reasons to cap yourself) but not enforce it.
people get all up in arms over something that turns out to be nothing, which is becoming a bit of a troubling trend with PC gamers.

but these commands and changes are not recommended or supported and we suggest everyone play the game as it was designed and intended for the best experience.
Console commands then, alright. Was that so damn hard to say?
What's the status on the game's framerate and aspect ratio?
Shinji Mikami and the team at Tango designed The Evil Within to be played at 30fps and to utilize an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 for all platforms. The team has worked the last four years perfecting the game experience with these settings in mind. For PC players, well provide debug commands on how you can alter the framerate and aspect ratio, but these commands and changes are not recommended or supported and we suggest everyone play the game as it was designed and intended for the best experience.
Hate to be negative but this is all i need to know.
bethesda said:Can I run it on a card with less than 4 gigs of VRAM?
Yes. Please refer to the minimum requirements above. You wont be experiencing the game at 1080p and youll likely need to turn off some features, but you will still be able to have a great experience with the game.
That's just covering themselves as it was not designed that way, just like Dead Rising 3.
It has those absurd system requirements and it only runs at 30fps? How shit of a port is this?
Ive played through the game and Ive also seen the game played at 60fps on a PC powerful enough to handle it. It looks great, but personally it didn't look right to me. I felt like I was seeing a "soap opera effect" and that took away from the atmosphere and feel that I think the default setting captures.
I just hope it isn't like previous id tech 5 games where unlocking the framerate destroys the game. That's just covering themselves as it was not designed that way, just like Dead Rising 3.
I blame using idTech 5. Framerate unlocking has always been dodgy, and them modifying it to work with 30FPS probably indicates that it will totally break the game logic if unlocked (basing this on previous idTech 5 games).
Wait, the game is built/locked for 30fps AND letterbox 2.35:1...? What the hell is this shit?
Yeah, I know, but the idea that you have to be running something like a 780 or 970/980 to play a pretty good looking game at 30fps is absurd. I just got my 970 and I'm left with the feeling that the ps4 version'll still run better.
Well that settles it then, another terrible PC port.
Not really. More like "another terribly designed/programmed videogame in general".

We'll have to wait and see. Typically, v-synced games on consoles have much stabler frame times so it might be smoother.
Someone from Bethesda did sort of confirm that 60 FPS might work, he just stated that it looks like the "soap opera" effect. Hoping that's just his perception and not the actual game being bugged to hell with unlocked FPS.
Did you preorder or plan on doing so? I'll bite now that they finally gave out important info.Grief you're now keeping your pre-order aren't you?
I haven't heard anyone use that term since 2007, and it was almost always in relation to motion interpolation on on Blu-rays and HD DVDs.
