UPDATE

I CHANGED THE DL LINK, PLEASE INSTALL THIS ONE , SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIANCE.

How? Whats your GPU?

I'm on a 670.

So, first grab Windowed Borderless Gaming .

Launch the FFXIIIlauncher.exe (Steamapps\common\Final Fantasy XIII if you disabled it) and put your game on windowed mode.

Start the windowedborderlessgaming.exe and then FF. The prog should be somewhere on the taskbar, right click it and Add Window (or F3). Then open "game setting".

At this point, you should see Title FINAL FANTASY XIII... in the Section part. Put 1920x1080 (or whatever your resolution is) in the resolution boxes, save then apply.

If you get a black screen, close FF and relaunch it. It should now work as you wanted.

If not, search for the config.ini located where you installed Windowed Borderless Gaming and add this after the Global_Config tab:
Code:
[Title:FINAL FANTASY XIII;Class:SQEX.CDev.Engine.Framework.MainWindow]
Style=348782592
Process=ffxiiiimg.exe
Width=1920
Height=1080

Again, change the 1920x1080 line as what your monitor is.

Hope it will help as much as it did for me.

However, I don't know if it will cause problem with Gedosato, for now, everything seems stable.

Thank you for this! Do I have to change anything on GeDoSaTo?

Well, looks like texture dumping crashes the game at the moment for me at least. I also seem to have the problem some others are having where the render resolution doesn't get overridden, it's just looks hell of pixelated. Going to troubleshoot that one a bit.

EDIT:
Well, I may have found something about that.
It seems like on lower resolutions, but still downsampling say from 1440p to 1080p, post processing completely destroys the iq. Both the post.fx and aa. Additionally, I'm seeing weird "spikes". It doesn't look like normal aliasing to me. Am I just crazy?

[img]http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2014/283/2/1/spikes_by_majorparsnip-d82bkcf.jpg[mg]

Maybe it happens at 4K as well but the higher resolution masks it?

Also a minor bug report, I think Grief was talking about not getting full sized shots earlier. It seems like takeScreenshot doesn't seem to work at all, and takeFullScreenshot acts as takeScreenshot. Hudless shots still come out at full resolution.[/QUOTE]

If you look at the bottom shot it's not that you have spikes it's got a repeating grid that runs both vertically and horizontally every so many pixels that then shift several pixels in upwards and to the left of each axis. I've never seen that before. Then again using any GeDoSaTo screenshot function for me causes a crash so it seems everyone has different quirks at the moment.

is this similar to what you are seeing here?

I'm getting this weird diagonal tear, easily visible on snows jacket here

At what resolutions are you guys getting a stable 60?

On a 780 3840x2160 was stable bar battle transitions and tutorial pop ups (anything with alpha effects caused a slight dip to mid 40s) and pushing to 5120x2880 was similar except some effects in battle and DOF in cutscene would cause a few drops but was a consistent 60 in the field. Of course running 7680x4320 might bring the average framerate down to 30, it stays there and looks an awful lot cleaner so I can more than live with that. But hey choices are always a good thing.

No that's completely different. No idea what that is either but it's just that back part of his jacket by the looks of things as it doesn't follw a straight path into his arm and looks like it stops fairly shortly.

Is there a way to just turn off the depth of field effect completely? All that blurriness just makes it look terrible

Also of note, I snooped around a bit inside the actual game data. I'm no expert, but with the tools that were built for PS3 version, you can kind of sort of get in there, though not quite. I'm not sure if the quickbms unpacking breaks it or if they changed the formats a little, but either way textures come out really weird colored when viewed through Noesis, and it also can't view the models like it does for the PS3 version. Sounds extracted fine it seems (ogg vorbis 128kbps average, yuck), so maybe they changed the models and texture packs in some way that Noesis doesn't quite understand.

Also, as far as I'm aware there's no repacker for the data. So even if you were able to extract fully functional stuff, you'd not be able to put it back in. quickbms does data re-import, but its limitation is that it can only re-import data that is of exact size or smaller than the original. So replacing models or having higher resolution textures that way wouldn't work, unless someone writes a proper repacker.

So at the moment it would seem like our only hope is GeDoSaTo texture dumping and overriding.

the line tends to go the entire diagonal cut in most moments during gameplay, it literally looks like ur average screentear during gameplay, except diagonal

There's no config.ini in my folder :eek:
But yes it was in Borderless Fullscreen.

Weird, try to create one.
Code:
[Global_Config]
AutoSetResolution=never
DefaultDeskTopWidth=1920
DefaultDeskTopHeight=1080
AutoSetOffset=never
DefaultPosX=0
DefaultPosY=0
KeyBind1_AddWindow=72
KeyBind1_ForceBorderless=73
KeyBind2_ForceBorderless=73
ForceKeyCheckTitle=always
ForceTriggerCheckTitle=always
AddWindow_Confirmation=never
ForceBorderlessKeyEnabled=always

[Title:FINAL FANTASY XIII;Class:SQEX.CDev.Engine.Framework.MainWindow]
Style=348782592
Process=ffxiiiimg.exe
Width=1920
Height=1080

Change the resolution lines if you need to.

Durante, you got serious shutouts on GT Time on Game Trailers (24:55 mins in) for your skills if hasn't already been mentioned.

I tried an older build with a config.ini with this time... and I have the same config.ini as yours... except it's not working... :/

alright..so update, I bumped the sample resolution up to 4K and I dont get this line anymore, I was using 2560x1440. However my framerate is garbage at 4k, on an R9 290

I've tried all manner of ini tweaks but I still get a crash to desktop anytime I try to start the game with GeDoSaTo enabled.

EDIT: Found the problem. If I run my monitor at 144hz the game crashes, if I change it to 60hz the game doesn't crash.

This fixed my crashes(running at 92hz). Guess it doesn't like odd refresh rates. Though somehow my color depth got changed to 16 bit, and they continued :p. Realized it was at 16 when I rebooted, changed back to 32, no more crashes.

4K running great aside from the randomly changing frame rate issues it hold solid 60. Going to try 8/16k next.

I made a mistake with the DL link, so uninstall the BorderlessGaming you used, and install this one instead.

I'm sorry.

I tried both links. Unfortunately, neither one worked. It was worth a shot though! I appreciate the effort. I'm at one of the save spots in Bresha Lake right before a big behemoth fight (the libra tutorial). That battle destroys my fps. My 680 drops down to the 30s.

Oh, man, what a clusterfuck. I finally understood what was causing my gamepad woes: my Logitech G13 and my HORI Fighting Stick. Now, it's not the first time that I have issues with my G13. In Dead Space, for example, having the joystick enabled would make the camera spin uncontrollably. But disabling it via the Device Manager was enough... Not for Final Fantasy XIII, it seems. I have to physically unplug the gameboard from my PC to make it work. Otherwise, the 360 gamepad doesn't work. The same goes for my HORI stick: if it's plugged in, it makes the cursor go up and down like crazy.

I can play at 4K>1080p/30 FPS with no other issues, though. I guess I'll wait until the game is more fixed, either by Durante or SE (ha!), before playing it seriously.

Strange. What's your GeDoSaTo settings?

I don't know why it worked for me, and not you. :-(

It worked for me :)

Thanks a lot!

I'm not getting exactly locked 60, but 55~60 at 4K using lanczos on a 680 is more than I would expect if the port was good, so no complaining from me.

I might turn it down to 3200x1800 to see if I get locked 60 that way.

Final fix I guess. This fixes the AMD issue, HUD and missing backgrounds.
Grab it here.
YAY

Now to get it 60fps and we'll be all set.

I'm not sure about the windowed mode trick for me since that kind of trick is usually a forced refresh issue and my monitor is 120hz.

Thanks, I was starting to believe that I had screwed up something or somewhere, ahah.

Glad it helped you. :)

Okay I'm like 99% sure my framerate issues (the drop to 30 cap and back to 60 cap) is related to the 'floating combat text'. The damage numbers.
Whenever someone or something is attacked and the damage numbers animate, it's dropping the framerate to a 30 cap and when the numbers are gone, the framerate is quickly climbing back to the 60 cap. Maybe the numbers are an overlay of some sort and it's taking precedence over the other things in the 3D environment.

^^^ Still bounces around all over for me outside of battle.

Okay the borderless windowed mode thing works in terms of getting me borderless windowed fullscreen, but I'm still solid 30fps with GeDoSaTo and all over between 30 and 60 without it.

I'm okay with functional 4k 30, 60 would just be icing on top.

I should add though, I already had Borderless Window installed, my version is 1.1.1.4, judging from the ReadMe file.

Well, maybe it's because it was already installed. I'm on ver. 2.0.0.0 for info.

I first tried downsampling from 4K, then at 1080p (no downsampling), and then completely off at 720p. Same results at each resolution..

Did you reboot your PC? If no, try to and see if it works.

8K runs fine. Could probably hold 30 fps on the one gpu it uses. Can't get GeDo to take SS so had to use Precision X for the time being.
Gotta love this little guy ^^

Sadly 16K was unplayable even though it shouldn't have been. 1 frame every 5 seconds :(
