Final Fantasy XIII PC |OT| Lightning must not be forgotten

First time playing this and I wish the English subtitles are a little bit more complete, some minor dialogues aren't translated, as well as the battle cries. I feel like I'm missing out some of the nuances in this game.

Can't understand why they didn't include English audio in the Asian version as well since the NA version got both audio in the end.

Subtitles pertain to the English version.

They aren't word for word translations of what's being said in japanese on screen ,but its close enough.

God damn it, why is Masashi Hamauzu always doing music for Squeenix games that get universally panned. Guys is a genius, on par with Sakimoto and Koshiro, yet he's known mostly for things like Unlimited Saga, Sigma Harmonics, Musashi - Samurai Legend or Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon.

Loved his work on FFX, and I love love love his work on FFXIII.
Pity he couldn't co-compose FFXII with Sakimoto. :

//EDIT: Anyone who's saying the game looks like crap needs to check The Durante's Returns thread and/or have their eyesight checked.

FFXIII is universally panned now? Okay then....

Anyone know how to get Force AA to work on Nvidia? 16x AF seems to work but I can't get any AA to actually enable.

Also, Does anyone get frame drops in battle when alot of effects r going on

I don't know if this was an anomaly, but after messing with a couple of settings, I was able to play for the last 30 minutes at a near constant 60 fps at 4k. It occasionally dipped down to a minimum of 50 FPS during battle transitions only.

The two things I changed - Forced triple buffering Vsync in the Nvidia control panel, and in the default GeDoSaTo config, I changed presentHz from 60 to 59. Hopefully this helps other people.

I asked this earlier, but didn't get an answer.

How do you tell when you've maxed out your Libra uses for a particular enemy?

EDIT: Just got the tutorial for Libra in-game. Apparently we are supposed to press a button during battle to show weaknesses (it isn't showing the actual button in the tutorial) and I get a checkmark next to creatures in the Datalog (every single enemy is currently checked).

Yay! Finally validated account!
So is this where all the popular kids are at? All 20 of us?
On topic: the game is stuttering every second for me, it doesn't seem like normal lag because of bad comp. Is there a fix to that as far as anyone know?
Also: you XIII fans are the best, you all have cracked me up at many occasions :)

Press R1/RB during a battle to show the enemy info. Usually 2 libras is enough.

A librascope reveals all the info from all the enemies at once.

There is a huge fps drop at this location, under 30fps and the gpu usage also drops (to 4% !)

2500K @ 5 Ghz
GTX 970

And the GPU is under 30º (watercooling)

It's trying to apply some kind of post-process effect to the background, that seems to tank the FPS whenever that happens as well as lower the fidelity.

With the way her hair looks, it definitely is not paradise.

I am not surprised at all that the PC version is a shitty port.

Also it's to my understanding the game is a 50GB download, even with those mega compressed videos?

What a joke.

Yes, 2nd picture was a joke and posting of a known issue, but it was NOT with GeDoSaTo,

It's using anything beyond a 2x2 ratio of any kind. Not just with GeDoSaTo

There must be something wrong going on there.
Mine is working great and i haven't had any problems yet.

Again, this issue is introduced entirely by the user thanks to whatever reason within the game not liking a ratio larger than 2x2 for rendering of anything.

Probably a silly question but yesterday people mentioned to set the options in the Nvidia control panel to high performance instead of adaptive.

Is there any disadvantage to leaving it on high performance? Like will the GPU overwork itself for no good reason when doing non-gaming stuff?

Even at High performance, still issues. Should use High performance anyway. No major issues

Sorry, but this is completely false. The game explains what l'Cie and fal'Cie are in cutscenes within the first two chapters. I never understood this complaint.

Some people just can't use their brains to wrap their heads around any kind of reading comprehension.

I'm a dirty (single player) cheater, haha.

Like I've told others before in the thread I've been messing around with a memory editor. The crystarium level (as I assumed) is just a value between 1-10 and if you find it then you can change it to unlock all levels early. It's nice to be able to grind like in every other Final Fantasy.

I'm surprised Square didn't put in the superhax like what they did with VIII. (9999 hp, etc)

THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING.

Welcome.
About the stuttering, it could either be your GPU is sleeping and you need to switch it to max performance or you don't have a controller which the game is constantly checking for, causing stutters.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
Can you use downloaded saves for this? I really don't want to play the first 8 hours again.

Man I still get fps drops into the 30-40 range during combat. Doesn't matter if I'm at 4k forcing max GPU performance or default 720p.
Maybe my PC just doesn't like Lightning?

Here's the situation: I have XIII and XIII-2 on PS3, but I barely played the first one. Does Durante's fix make it worth the $16 & 60GB to play this version over the PS3 one?

EDIT: Seeing all the stuff about frame drops makes me a little weary, since I really want to play this at 60 fps.

Durante fixed DoF and the mini-map. Now I can finally play past Chapter 1.

I'm excited.

It's possible to get it running at 60fps 98% of the time, with some tinkering. Whether you're the tinkering sort or not will tell you if it's worth the expense.

What kind of tinkering?

AMD isnt getting anywhere near 60 FPS consistency, Nvidia users are having much better luck

Can't get enough...Fuuuuuuuckkkkk. 4K, so good. I knew this game was a beauty in Audio and visuals. But man, on the PC...WoOt!!! Looks like I'm finally going to beat this game after this years. Shit, this game shines on my Yamaha's HS50's

Got this badboy at 4K/30fps locked, no dips.

I am not even able to play this damn game as it apparently doesn't work with the Xbox One controller which seems ridiculous to me.

I don't want to use my DS3 with a wrapper, I hate using DS3 especially since the Xbox One controller drivers were released..

Any solutions to this issue? Am I the only one with this issue of the Xbox One controller not being recognised by the game?

I've had absolutely no problems with using the Xbone controller on the game.

edit: 5760x3240, 9x the resolution of 1080p at 30fps.

Daaaaaamn!
20fps this area...

I love vanilles strategy to just hug it out when things look sour. (im pretty sure she quits doing that pretty early though)
I love Vanille. Screw the haters, she's great. Need that positivity to drown out the whining from the other brat. Is that an isle of man accent?

So adorbs. And doesn't waste time worrying, just fights when she needs to. Zen master.

I just use GeDoSaTo and it locks at 30 most of the time, only goes to 45 or so for some videos. It's weird. But it's definitely better mostly hanging at 30 than constantly going all over between 30 and 60.

This has to be one of the worst optimized PC games I've played in a long time, 13% GPU usage (on prefer maximum performance mode, forced 16xAF etc), 40% CPU usage, and it never seems to go over 30fps (it hits 60 when facing back the way i came) - and I've seen it drop to under 25 in battles. This is without the Durante mod, i mean 720p for god sake and it still drops to under 30fps!, it just doesn't want to use the other 87% of GPU + 60% of CPU i have ready and waiting.

Is it at least maxing out one of the cores?

From what I hear easy mode is literally press "x" to win

Not really. Getting killed is still a possibility.

One of the goofier things I've noticed about this game. While running around, if you move forward and backward rapidly your character will stop and do an animation. It's like "cut that shit out already."
