So is this a good month for the Wii u? Seems better than last but still bad as MK8 is already dying, hyrule warriors flopped
Hyrule Warriors flopped? It's the fastest selling Musou ever in America. It also did better than TWWHD I believe.

This is the opposite of a flop.

The PS4 selling over 550,000 units is remarkable. It's clear that banking on Destiny was the right move.

Agreed. It's time for Microsoft to step it up, because at the current rate, the Xbox One is losing more than just market share. Mind share is incredibly difficult to regain, so Microsoft have their work cut out for them. It's going to take a lot of work to keep up with the PS4.

Let's see, first/second party games takes time, unless they are in the oven 1-2 years ago, MS can't magically make more.
Could buy more third party exclusive that plan to release in 2015; weekly OS update instead of monthly?
Free 3 games instead of 2? More price cut? More marketing budget?
Lots of options.

IMO, the only chance that they have, is in the U.S. & the UK. Xbox One is already on life support outside of those two regions, & by next year, no one outside of the U.S. & the UK will care about Xbox One anymore.

Did not see Destiny (standalone) selling more on X1 at all coming. Pretty impressive especially since Sony has a significantly larger user base.

Glad to see great games deserving to be up there such as D3 and Shadow of Mordor.

Bundles and digital don't count, and the free game promotion on Xbox was a physical copy. Smart move for them.

Even with marketing deals for CoD, AC: Unity and their own MCC?

Don't think the marketing deals for CoD or AC: Unity are as big as people make them out to be.

Before getting its price cut on the Xbox One, CoD was selling better on PS4. At this point, the larger userbase of PS4 matters more, and this creates momentum as friends of friends go to pick up a console.

The master chief collection isn't a game changer. It's selling to a fanbase that is already on the Xbox One.

November sales will be determined by supply (in the case of PS4), and how desperate Microsoft is willing to go in terms of Xbox One deals. Xbox has a chance of winning November, but it will take a lot to overcome the PS4's momentum.

WAIT WAIT WAIT....Didnt Pachter predict the PS4 to sell 250,000 units in September?

And the PS4 sold nearly 550,000?

I know this isn't his job, and he doesn't spend a lot of time on his prediction, but he was wrong by nearly 300,000 units. I would assume that's one of the single worst predictions, at least here on GAF. I would bet nobody has swung and missed on any of their predictions as badly as Pachter did this month....

WOW, talk about him completely spacing the Destiny Bundle, he straight up slept on it....

I just find it a shame that consumers aren't buying the console that has superior content, online, OS and controller. Come holiday the gap in content will become more apparent which should move millions of units so I will just play the waiting game.

Superior Content is so laughable. 148 games vs. 92. Odds are something will appeal to you in the PS4 games department unless your criteria for liking games is "On Xbox One".

Which, for you, it quite clearly is.

How? XB1 is at what... 6 million sold through (correct me if I'm wrong)?

PS4 at about 11 - 12 million sold through.

Still a big gap.

The 10 million mark shocked everyone. Even the best estimates had the number maybe not even in the 9's. It was 10 in August. So the sales WW of August + September and so far this month. Could easily be another 2.5 million sold WW so far.

Don't really even think X1 is at 6 yet. 7m gap may be pushing it. But its getting there pretty quickly.

I like to know where did 550K for PS4 come from?

All we know is this month sales nearly tripled August sales (190K), so less than 570K.

What a odd thing to say.

It's crazy considering the "come back" the PS3 had, but to be fair - it's Hindle.

I honestly think if Halo MCC doesn't do anything for Microsoft it might legitimately be "game over" for this generation. I mean it almost is already but I personally think think the Halo brand can do work.

If halo 5 doesn't do it they will have one last thing.

Apparently a Venturebeat article but I just think they've done the same maths as everyone else but just spat out 550k. Only 1 or 2 ways to find out...

Cream or Aqua plz

Possibly. The last figures for XB1 were sold to retailers, not consumers so it's hard to guess. Maybe my 6 million was being generous.

Good sales for the PS4, although if it did sell 550k+ units that would be higher than most people's predictions which concerns me a bit. While selling this fast is good for Sony it also means the PS4 market will be saturated much faster. Just like how it broke records at launch but after the hype died down, sales crashed and it sold under 200k for much of the year.

Thinking more about this it's really similar to the Wii vs. 360 situation. The Wii started off cheaper and more popular, but eventually everyone got one and lost interest. The 360 eventually caught up in America even though the Wii was routinely outselling it 4-to-1 in 2008.

Right now the One has more room to cut price (cheaper parts and bigger war chest) which means it'll eventually be cheaper, and its big hitters like Halo 5 and Gears are still to come.

The PS4 is doing great now but there's no way it'll be able to sustain this kind of momentum. I'm curious to see how the two consoles perform in 2016.

So now selling too fast is bad? I won't even begin to break down why your insinuations are backwards.
