All Elfheims are completable when you find them. It's just that some are balls hard.
I just beat it this morning, so the strategy is fresh in my head. I used Scarborough Fair on both arms and feets. Hold every input as long as possible for extra damage.

I just did these exact combos:
PKP x 3
KKK
P or K, I don't remember which you get 7 of.

Finished it, gotta say it was disappointing. This game is just cheap at too many occasions. I already didn't like the rating system counting deaths on your first playthrough in W101, but here it pretty much equals giving you the finger, considering that 80% of the time you'll get stone because of shitty QTEs and other trial & error sections. Just adds unnecessary frustration (while in something like God Hand I couldn't care less whether I die 30 times in a stage, since it wasn't cheap and insulting). Haven't played the original DMC, but other than that, this was probably the weakest Kamiya game. Many setpieces weren't that memorable (or, like the whole ending, done better in W101) and enemies were kinda meh. Not many types and often not that fun to kill. Witch time is cool, but I prefer other battle systems like Ninja Gaiden 2 so far. With this bundled release, I also care even less for a NG+ playthrough (in which the biggest problems would again be memorizing dumb QTEs and the likes, since in battles I already had a silver-gold average, with many platinums...). I think I've enjoyed the story more than several parts of the gameplay, lol...

I'm hopeful for the sequel though, the demo was better than almost everything in this game.
Same here, I haven't played the original until I got it with the second game on U and I'm not really all that wild about it. I do think it's fun overall but it seems like the instant QTE deaths are terrible. I wonder if they go away if you play on Easy as I almost would rather play it like a mindless button masher than die repeatedly because I didn't hit Y or see the QTE prompt in time.

If it's your first time playing go to normal. Normal is hard for beginners lol
I already finished it in normal and unlocked the hard difficulty.

From the get go you get two of those electricity/fire tiger-type enemies and one of those dog-types. They are super aggresive too.

Buying the parry accessory is a must.

Normal was pretty easy for me in the beginning but now I cant get through a chapter without a death

In rodin's shop the weapons, accessories and treasures are mainly for second playthroughs unless your spending time in the challenge rooms where you can earn a lot of halos. Focus on purchasing techniques and items only. Techniques will make the game so much easier. Especially the bat within.

I always hesitate to buy items because I tend to play a bit more recklessly when I know I have some extra health stashed away. Plus you can find materials to make many items anyway.

Though expensive (200,000), the Moon accessory is a must buy, first play through, as soon as possible. It affords a larger amount of breathing room when you are getting swarmed and against certain later enemies, it is very beneficial. Being able to counter enemies effectively, along with dodge-cancelling keeps you engaged non-stop which I find helps keep the fight in player control. However, I also approach the game by spending the next 100,000 halos on Gaze of Despair - before I even buy any additional techniques - as that accessory forces you to get good fast but also rewards you handsomely.

Ugh, I think they fixed the kilgore glitch :(

Oh well.

Edit: Nvm, it's still there, I was just doing it wrong. Woo!

Most importantly, I hope this is gone in the second game. Or significantly dumbed down. W101 also had QTEs, but iirc they at least gave you like 20 seconds to react.

I'm up to chapter 12 of Bayonetta 2 and I haven't seen any instant death QTEs like the ones in the first game.

If you're good enough you can on first playthrough. :)

Alfheim 12 is complete bullshit and seems impossible when you get to it. I actually got he 5 Torture Attacks requirement met by the time the Grace and Glory at the end popped up and thought all I needed was the 5TA.... but NOPE Grace and Glory took out the one hit I had left, and after 2 more hours of trying I haven't even gotten close to being able to complete this shit again. I'm just constantly taunting to build up Magic and dodging when I can which allows me to get 2 taunts off usually and then using Torture Attack on the enemy. It's just so god damn hard trying to dodge every little hit while constantly taunting and taunting. I gave up, 2 hours wasted repeating this same shit over and over was enough.

Yeahhhh I'm going to save up for the parry, dodge offseting is really hard to get accustomed to in this game compared to Rising. Rising it was a lot more streamlined (you could do it whenever you wanted to, basically). Might be awhile until I get the parry, though. I only have like 37k D:

Going to do at least one runthrough of this before starting 2; I beat it on 360 when it first came out, but just once and that was the last time I played it. As far as the Moon accessory, that just allows you to parry right? Isn't that the same effect that the Link outifit has built in?

Link costume has parry.

What he said lol.

I only did my one playthrough so didn't touch any high level stuff in the original release, what does the Gaze of Despair do?

I think you need to do this one on hard in order to get a crow.

Let's just say that I still have one crow missing on my PS3 save ;_;

The constant KACHUNK KACHUNK KACHUNK noises coming from my Wii U's disc drive during cutscenes are a real drag. It's not such a big deal, since I'll be skipping them all on subsequent playthroughs, but the whole reason I'm replaying Bayo 1 before I jump into 2 is to catch up on the story and my Wii U's trying its best to drown out all the dialogue. I've heard these noises in other Wii U games, but never just solid grinding for minutes at a time.

So far the Wii U version's been better than my 360 copy in every aspect except this one. What makes it worse is it's the kind of noise you can't just tune out like you could with a noisy fan or whatever.
Glad to hear its not just my Wii U making that horrible noise constantly during cutscenes, it really does get distracting after a while, wish I could install my disk onto the hdd to minimise the disk drive noise.

Buying accessories makes it even more fun since it opens up so much. I'm saying wait for second playthru for those who don't want to spend all their halos and also for those whose pride may feel like its kinda of like adding kid gloves for those who can't get the timing right.

I personally feel that way, so I make my first playthru all about honing my reaction skills and combos while finishing the story. Then for the second it's all about opening that gameplay depth.

For my first playthrough, I focused my meager earnings on techniques and witch hearts. The higher my max hp, the less I would die.

For those wondering, it is possible to turn off the Miiverse icon in game. You'll have to go into parental settings on the Wii U main menu and restrict Miiverse. I don't like that design decision, basically making players have to pick and choose but at least it's possible to turn it off.

Had $10 credit from the Digitial Deluxe program, so decided to buy the first Bayonetta since I've never played it.

Finished the first chapter and I can already see the appeal of the gameplay. Story is kinda, whatever, so far.

Which enemies are giving you trouble in particular?

The wheel enemies were terrible, but now I have a strategy to beat these things.

Now I'm up to chapter six and the game definitely gets harder on normal. I even had to tone the difficulty down to easy in chapter four because the boss was tough as hell...and that's the problem I have with games made by Kamiya/PG. I don't play this specific type of game often and at first I suck...and now I have the choice.
I play the game on easy and I think I'm a "loser" => The game is not fun.
OR I play the game on normal, I die often and get stone statues. => The game is not fun.

That's why I've played TW101 only two times.

Ok, I'm going to say this: I absolutely do not enjoy this game... at all. I loved what i played of Bayo 2 but this... man i wanted to like this but it's nothing but frustrating. I just can't get the hang of it. Every time i think i know how to play the game it just says: fuck you, for this fight we'll deactivate witch time cause fuck you thats why... oh but we're not going to hint at the fact that an integral mechanic will be arbitrarily deactivated for no good reason.

I don't mind learning boss strategies and timings, but this game just goes out of the way to make bosses as unpleasant as possible...

I really hope that this game will grow on me, cause i feel like i wasted my money quite frankly.

Yiissss completed Bayonetta.

Aside from Chapter VIII (cause really, fuck that shit hard) I enjoyed the game a lot. There are some questionable gameplay designs, but clearly Platinum made the game to be replayed a lot and mastering it's quirks into perfection. Just like Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe before it. Going to replay it soon enough, but now I'm going to play Bayo 2.

Lol, just heard the names of the girls who are going to "miss" Luka... Claire, Trish, Silvia and Ammy...

Made to Chapter X tonight. This game has many surprises and unexpected moments. I'm loving it, gameplay is fun and the story is hilarious too.

This scene at the airport made me laugh a lot!

Uh, did I totally miss something at some point or how on earth was I supposed to know that for the QTE at the very very end of Chapter 2 I had to hold Y? Literally just had to continue 10+ times there because I was trying to either time the button press or mash it at various points thinking I was doing something else wrong. Actually pretty infuriated right now, just sunk me from a Platinum easy to Stone.

You press Y once at the right time.

It's a bit like the statues you lift and dodge at the right time to activate witch time, you see a circle getting smaller and when it's the size of the button, you press it.

I apparently have no idea what the right timing is since I tried that for at least the first 4 or 5 times and it wasn't working, so then I started thinking I had to mash it or something. Have zero problems going into Witch Time, so I dunno man.

The same thing happened to me, though I got mine from ebay, so less surprising. The ebay listing pictures were all official ones, so I thought I was good. Then I found out the damn thing had a 3 hour battery life. I checked the back of it and the nintendo logo actually read "Niniendo".

Just finished the game. Had a total blast overall; great battle system, music, and tone. If Bayonetta 2 is supposed to be better than this, I'll be very happy :)

Just fnished the game, at the congradulations screen now, boy what a ride, makes me excited to see the even better character models of these characters, one thing im noticing is there are 1 or 2 enemy models I didnt see in my playthrough (one that looks to have the model of those big "angels" with the baby face but has dark skin and seem to be carrying laser guns) are they just concept art they wanted to throw in or are do they appear on
higher difficulties?
Also
I know Rodin is secretly a lumen sage/angel but I forgot how you get him, I may or may not try to 100% whatever I need to get to him,I just want to know.

Chapter 5 boss was so fucking hard, died so many times. It was only when I forced myself to try dodge offset that I was able to get through.
