Leaked AC Unity gameplay videos up in the wild (edit: re-uploaded)

They should look into makig a new zombie game. Thats an impressive number of npcs. Maybe zobie dlc or something.

The city, crowds and animations are all super impressive. Not sold on the actual game yet though, what is my pirate ship equivalent that stops this from being another basic AC.

For me it is the customization that is a great new feature. I just hope the changes in gear actaully compliments your playstyle instead of it just being a gimmick.

Are they really? The majority of the posts I read did not think that AC2, Brotherhood and Black Flag were terrible.

Things just turned to shit with AC3 and a lot of people tend not to forgive Ubisoft for that.
They have a lot of appel. They're all extremely gorgeous graphically, have an excellent design (although... assassins should try not to dress so showy), they have really nice and interesting setting and it's nice to explore the game counterparts of old real cities. The presentation is top notch.
Most people like to story too.
But the gameplay do lack a lot. Combat wise is just terrible, with enemies that take ticket for the turn to be slaughtered. The collectible hunt is atrocious. The stealth is bad. The parkour is kind of fun but it gets old fast.
They have merits... but they're far from being good games.

Yet they sell.....alot.

As does justin bieber.

I'm pretty sure that the hour of judgement passed ages ago, if the majority of posts about the game recently are anything to go by.

Should of said final judgement..

But I wonder if there is still time to fix it, as when I was play the... I noticed
certain issues with the npc
, but I'm bound by NDA so i can't say what they are .

No longer really true. At least in Black Flag I was killed in combat quite a few times because enemies no longer stand and wait for you to kill them.

Nope, pretty sure the final judgement has passed too. For some people that's before the game was even announced just because it's an Assassin's Creed game.

FWIW I appreciate your saying that, it's a good reminder of why I never preorder games.

I get AC invented the whole tower climbing thing, but after doing it in Far Cry, Watch Dogs and multiple AssCreeds... I really hate it.

Mordor copied it, but at least there are not so many and the side content is more varied and fun.

man, why can't developers at least code a fade in where pop in occurs ?
super distracting, but environments look great at least

No. Nemesis was better, but the actual side missons were as run of the mill as you could get. "Cut down nondescript white men from poles 23 times." I completely disagree. The fort missons and legendary ships were much better than anything SoM had IMO.

Lol just stop.

Look at the jungle gameplay demo from TGS. I haven't noticed any pop-in. Also Kojima said before he showed the Afghanistan demo to the public that it is still in early stage and he didn't really want to show it yet but he did it for the fans.

Just compare the E3 and Gamescom demo. In the beginning of the E3 demo behind Ocelot there was a flickery shadow. That was fixed in the Gamescom demo. So yeah don't judge a game when it's not even finished yet. They are constantly working on the game, unlike Unity which already went gold.
We'll see
I'm curious to see how the game will hold lod at same movement speed with same kind of heavy loaded of ai driven asset keeping the camera in front the caracter if possible (but i'm pretty sure the game won't feature this kind of context. it will probably be empty in comparaison)

You can't see a lot of popin on camera controled demo of acu still in development.

11 minutes of nighttime gameplay. No ambient music pretty much confirmed at this point, so let down.

No ambient music makes absolutely no sense. One of the only things I routinely remember about the AC2 games (which I liked) was the great music while I traversed the city and countryside.

Do they think the setting is too serious for background music? Is there any chance we're reaching false conclusions based on limited evidence?

I can't remember the last game I played with that many interactive NPC's around. I wonder how much loading the game will do between map segments or if there is any whatsoever.

Game looks really nice, regardless of the resolution. It's definitely my most anticipated game between now and the end of the year and I really cannot wait to play it.

Great time to be a gamer right now, especially for fans of many big franchises.

Looks decent graphically but highly immersion breaking in places as usual.

I highly doubt in a few months time we will look back on ACU as a technical marvel or showpiece for next gen capabilities.

Sincerely it looks like an AC2 clone. Which is fine by me, that is the best template for an AC game.

I was just thinking that too. Aside from some fancy lighting and more crowds, one would be hard pressed to tell the difference. That being said I played AC2 on the PC, so I already benefitted from higher graphic fidelity.

And being French instead of Italian, of course.

I don't think so. At this point I've seen 13, 7, and 11 minute videos of freeroam and none of them had ambient music. This is AC3 all over again.

There was a huge backlash thread on the Ubi forums because of the lack of ambient music in AC3, they fixed that in Black Flag but it seems they decided to keep it out of Unity again. Hopefully I'm wrong, but right now all signs are pointing to no ambient music.

They probably think their city is so lively and dynamic they don't need music. Very disappointing if true.

I don't think being annoyed at a stagnant series or Ubisoft's audiovisual lies is unwarranted.

They lied because they didn't say it was 900p? Apart from that I don't see how this looks worse than the official gameplay video.

When he kills that guards it only takes one or two attacks. Must be invested in the combat skill tree. Pop in and frame drops are also less frequent in this video. Also confirms that the blood splatter on the wall wasn't an e3 specific effect.

Looks like some good old-fashioned AC to me. But definitely prettier.

The new tech is pretty impressive. But after playing Shadow of Mordor, that combat system looks just completely flat. Definitely not a day 1 purchase, but I'll play it soon.

man, the lack of ambient music really is a bummer.

remember this shit? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwVvkf5CeJU

gawd damn.
So goddamn good. AC Brotherhood is the pinnacle of the series and the soundtrack is a big reason why.

If you are talking about graphic difference is huge. I made this AC2 SS and they look blurry even on PC

Yves, you break my heart. Tell your composers to write some ambient music and have your devs code it into the game before release, please.

Ubisoft fix this please!

That video looks good but the lack of ambient music is a shame if true because the music on the recent b roll footage sounded good.

Pretty much. Some people seem to have these romantic images of past games on how they look until they revert back to it.
Indeed. People claiming that Unity doesn't look much better than last gen AC are just nuts. I don't know if they just have rose tinted glasses, or if it is part of a crusade to slam the game every chance they get. The difference is absolutely huge in every single way. The scope, the crowds, the amount of detail in the world, the animation, the lighting, everything. Regardless of resolution and NPC pop-in, the game looks stunning to me.

That's not true at all.

Also, the stream going on right now has ambient music.

According to the leaker there are ambient music at some locations and some times.

It confirms the leaks of the soundtrack.

It looks pretty spectacular to me. And I LOVE the setting. But after seeing all the same gameplay tropes again, syncing the towers, the plethora of collectables, I'm completely turned off again. I wish this came out right after Brotherhood, when I still had some interest in the series.

I second this notion. AC games (like some of the other gaming series out there) seem to get a lot of unnecessary flack because it is the popular thing to do. As I've gotten older, i understand more and more what i like and to ignore the negativity that some people project. I look at reviews but at the same time, take them with a grain of salt (because opinions are just that...opinions). The game looks great and I can't wait to play it.

Oh hell yeah, didn't realize you could get equip-able rifles in this game. For some reason, that has always been my favorite weapon in the past few AC games. Picking one up off the ground, getting a quick shot off, taking down a couple guys with the bayonet... awesome stuff.

Also the rain looks awesome, glad they carried that over from AC4.

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
Ok i decided to post screenshots i made from AC2 to ACIV just to compare graphics. Unfortunately i don't have any AC1 Screenshots. All images are from PC version and improvements are noticeable with each game.
The big graphical jump in the series came when they introduced a new engine in 3. This game is the second big graphical jump in the series. And watching the stream now, love the transitions from cutscenes to gameplay. Quality is god awful though, PS4 streams usually look bad but not this bad.

A lot of people confuse it with music that plays when you get close to a viewpoint, side mission or main mission music. We're talking strictly free roam and exploration.

Thanks for the link, watching now and they're on a mission, hopefully some good freeroam will be shown before the stream gets taken down.

Edit: and it's down.
