Majora's Mask 3DS announced!

If Zelda U has even an ounce of the feels and atmosphere that MM has, I will melt my face off from the awesome. Holy balls.

That is rad as hell. I'd love to read a Majora's Mask comic like that.

Now you've got me thinking about breaking out the watercolors tomorrow...

Do eeeet! :D

Actually it is a remake it says right in the press release.

"Remake" and "remaster" are often used interchangeably, especially in PR, but in this case it would be far more precise to use the latter term. MM 3D is just a version of the game adapted to the 3DS, with various tweaks and enhancements. A remaster. Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen, on the other hand, are actual remakes - built from the ground up for the GBA.

This is just semantics, really, but in a discussion where we're trying to judge the scale of the project and making all these different comparisons, it's useful to keep in mind.

I was only talking about the first Kingdom Hearts.

Better is subjective. This was something that was programmed in assembly for the N64 sound chip and has its own unique sound as a result of that. If the music was done with an actual band you would not have the same sound at all. There are many notes which actually aren't possible on instruments.

It would be a completely different thing, not just higher quality audio.
OK, and? Your second point is still incorrect for 3 of 4 redone games and your first point doesn't even apply to BbS. Though to be fair, mostly everything with BbS was already done with live band.

Well of course youre not going to have the same sound. That's the whole point of redoing it with the live band. I don't know, the Majoras Mask movement they did for the 25th anniversary sounded much better than anything they did on the N64.

Man, its always weird that as a child, I played and loved OoT so much, still is one of my favorite games of all time to do this day, but for some reason, I just never got excited about MM and never played or bought it. I even remember a few months after it came out, was sleeping over at a friends birthday party, and someone was playing it and we were all watching him, and it just didnt interest me at all. As a young kid, it just seemed like a cheap cash in, though I had nothing to base it on. Its funny years later hearing all the praise it received, and how some consider it better than OoT, I always intended to play it eventually, and when OoT 3ds came out, I figured it was just a matter of time before MM would get the same treatment. I'm glad I waited, and am eager to play it for myself after all these years.

I saw it as a cheap cash-in as well. Though the real truth was that I was afraid of the game, because the commercials gave me existential angst. :C

It's a very different type of Zelda.

Between this and Valkyria Chronicles PC, it's like all my non-Panzer-Dragoon gaming dreams are coming true.

Really though. If I buy this through Game in UK will it not work on my Ambassador 3DS?

Also a bit off topic but I ordered Halo MCC from Game as well to get the LE. First time importing anything outside the States. Will I have any issues running that on my XBO?

So what place is most likely going to put up preorders for the LE package?

And the game looks exactly like I expected it to. But that Artwork I did not expect at all, it blew away my expectations for that.

That boxart is awful! Looks so off, and not the proper off way Majora is supposed to look haha. For once I am totally rooting for some kinda change for NA.

Those screenshots really need some form of AA. For some reason I thought the game would look better than this.

The game does, and will, look better than that. 3DS screenshots (and even videos) are notoriously terrible compared to how the games actually look on the 3DS itself.

The special edition is nice and I'm gonna get it, but its not that amazing. I guess the allure of official Mojora's Mask items no matter how small is alluring for long time fans. It's just a pin, a poster and an okay looking steelbook to me, but I'll still get it (as long as the price is right)

That trailer really reminded me of how weird and creepy Majora's Mask was, especially in comparison to the traditional Zelda fare. Great that it's getting a second life, hoping maybe this will do better than the original release. Always thought it was a shame that it did so much worse than the average Zelda, such an interesting title and experience.

It's becoming harder and harder to convince myself not to buy a 3DS. This announcement has pretty much secured a 3DS purchase in the near future.
